- In this 2000pts 6th Ed batrep, Sylvania is under attack. The Empire have found out about the aristocracy of the night and have called upon their Dwarfen allies to aid them in their destruction. Sir Dragislav Von Curze, a Vampire of the Blood Dragon bloodline, leads his legion against the Dwarfs.

59:00 your direwolves are unit strength 2 each so it wouldn't have crumbled. That's what makes them such a good unit for vampire counts. Only 3 are needed to affect a flank charge / remove ranks etc.

Just for your future games Stos, turn 2 vamprie charges. The Knights should not have made contact with the grudgethrower and the thunderers. You shouldn't have 'closed the door'.
Warmachines don't have flanks like regular units. You measure to the warmachine, make your one wheel allowed in the charge then move straight forward. The crew models then come forward on that same battle line, so you don't get to clsoe the door and bring the second unit into the fight as there is no need.
Indeed mate. This was miss played. Thankfully the knight's would have blown through the crew and overrun into the Thunderers. So pretty much the same result.
@@rogueelementgaming If it hasn't been mentioned either. The gyrocopter isn't a large target, so your bats probably couldn't have seen it over the unit of skeletons to declare the charge. They can charge 360, but only at what they can legitimately see.

As a follow-up, if it had been a legal multi-charge would Thunderers have been able to stand and shoot? @rogueelementgaming fysa; EDIT: Found the page reference for multicharge in one of comments, will research on my own. Agreed! Awesome energy from Nick - a natural warhammer presenter, especially as RNGesus only answered one prayer!!
Couple of pointers for Nick for future games. Better positioning of gyrocopter as he could have positioned gyro so that fell bats could not have made the charge. Behind grave guards for example on turn 2. Units block line of sight against gyro. Also thunderers could have stand and shoot against blank knights as it would have counted as charge against them. Best place for war machines is in the middle of infantry units to protect them. Cheers.

Beautiful! Stos really outperforms for two matches in a row (last one being that green symphony against the Vampire Counts). It happens only when a general knows his armies intuitively and has a thoughtful approach to army creation. Some details that differentiate this channel from all the others are: high attention to detail, production quality, great storytelling, and the right amount of effort being put into the plan on how to outmaneuver your opponent without losing sight of respect for your playmate. Great guest, great host, and the best battrep content on TH-cam. Thanks ladz, it was "such a spicy meat-a-ball-a." P.S. That dwarven cannon really needs to be repainted or something to start working properly.
Those VCs look awesome. I especially love the paint job on that Blood Dragon, and I think the more fleshy colour on the zombies and ghouls is 🤌
Finally the VC army is ready for battle! My favorite army. Cant wait to see more of these dead guys.

Great report. I have been on the receiving end of similar thrashings against the Vampire Counts many times. Regarding the unit strength of war machines, refer to Warhammer Chronicles 2004 page 114.

It was a wonderful report, you have been two cheerful mates and you had a lot of horrible/good dice rolling :) Love that you report your errors made in the game in the video! And about the paint curse? Well, you had a curse... A "von Curse" ;) Two minor things about your vampire list: 1. Why do you deploy your zombies 6 wide? You either use them as a necromancer bunker or as a tar pit. Thus, 5 wide would suit them better (I know it's 4 wide ranks in 6th edition, but I also play all my units 5-wide, as I changed everything for 7th edition back in the day and it looks much better XD) 2. I would deploy skirmishers (i.e. your Ghouls) in numbers of (4x + 1), so either in groups of 5, 9, or 13, as you have the best value points wise to pass panic checks. Kind regards FA

But I wonder if some day in the future will you do a larger battle or a 2v2 battle cause I personally played those kind of battles and it was very fun

Very nice battle, well played sir. But I have to say that the dwarves are always grateful victims for the vampires. Their great strengths, fire and solid infantry just don't pull against the undead.
1. The shelling is great for spreading panic among the enemy. It doesn't work against the undead.
2. Although the infantry is stable, it simply does not do enough damage in close combat to win a battle, since the undead in particular are usually numerically superior.
3. If you want to concentrate on banishing (master runesmith) you don't have a dwarf king and therefore nobody who can stand up to the vampire lord in close combat....
VC are becoming the antagonist of this channel

Vampire turn 2: could those fell bats really see gyrocopter and thus charge it? It seemed to me that the skeleton unit between them blocked the los.
Also black knights charge on the catapult would not have closen the door. The crew would have lined up to the direction the knights charged and the knights would have maxed against them only.

Only at turn 1 VC atm, but remember the Black Periapt allows you to keep a dice from any magic phase, i.e. you could have kept one of your dispell dice from Stunty turn 1 and added it in your VC first turn. I've also heard some keep their opponents dice too as the wording does not specify it has to be YOUR unused dice, though that might be more open to argument :)

Great battle report as per usual. Something to remember for next game, black knights have killing blow as well. Wouldnt have made a difference in this game. But could be useful in future.

Also, hey Stos, I know it's very challenging getting guests to come on the show, but I was wondering if you had ever considered doing a 2v2 or even a 1v1v1? Would something like that interest you? I think that would be pretty fun if it can be arranged.
When the ghouls charged the flamme cannon, here, we always put the highest number of fighters as possible in contact, so in this case, you would not have choice to clip the other unit on the side. This is the only way to protect the cannon from skirmishers.
In this case how it works? The ghoul engage all 3 units? 1 front and two on the side (ghoul side vs dwarf side)?
@@tizianomoreni6035 It depends on how wide tthey became. The cannon had three crews, so we need to put five guys in front of the cannon. If the five attackers are wide enought to touch other units, yes, the other units are included in the combat. So, we expend the front egal to the number of attackers that are able to reach, as a normal charge.
And in fact, a cannon contains three crew skirmishers. If you charge from one direction, the crew aligns and so on. So, I thing that, in that case, you could clip with one side if the attackers would wanted it.
I love the energy and I don't want to be a moaner, but the freehand shakey camera gives me motion sickness (may just be me!)

Bit confused on how the black knights double charged. Do you have a page reference on how that works?
Would have thought you'd have to actually hit the machine in order for the crew to come out but that may mean you arent maximising on the thunderers as per initial charge declaration.
So, this was handled a bit incorrectly as the Canon crew act like skirmishers and so would align to the knights rather then the knight's closing the door into the Thunderers. The rules for multiple targets/charges are in the appendix page 265. Thankfully in this case the knight's would have punched through the Canon crew and overrun into the Thunderers, so largely the same result.

Dwarf player need some more games, not moving in his first and second turn is a very bad decission, he can not protect his warmachines or threat the necromancers...
Some rules mistakes:
- dire wolfs are unit strengt 2, the combat against the cannon is a tie
- when you charge a warmachine, the crew acts like skirmishers, so are they the ones that forme the line against the enemy, and the enemy don't close the door (because everyone is in base contact). In any case, you can not charge two units at once
- I think bats can see the gyro when they charge him, but remember, none of them are big targets and can´t see over other units
- gyrocopter is unit strengt 3

-Totally right on the Canon crew aligning with the knight's and not the other way around. I completely forgot that about "skirmishers". However charging multiple units is definitely a thing. Page 265 Multiple targets.
-In the OG blue Dwarf book that I use the Gyro is unit strength 1.

We are playing here that they could. And, in fact, we always said that the dwarfs are waiting to shot that they are near, so the dwarfs player would have touch a lot more.
Totally fine with it but, why do you tell your rival the magic equipment you re using?
Zhe Flame cannon is so good lined up to shoot the Wolf and the cav.
Also why not use the grapeshot from the cannon on the cav
I once witness at turn 1 win by dwarfs vs vamps on a tournament.
The dwarfs shot all the Artillerie against his unit. He failed 2 Look out sir Tests. He lost 2 wounds against the cannon abd 3 against the Rock.

"Rules of the Runes" section 4 pg. #19: " Master runes are so powerful that they cannot be combined on the same item or used together on the same battlefield. For this reason Runesmiths describe these runes as Jealous Runes."
I've always been under the impression that only 1 master rune may be used in an army (battlefield).
I'm going to be thoroughly peeved if I've been wrong this whole time.😂
No you can have multiple different master runes across the army, you can only have each master rune once no matter the combination of other runes and no item can ever have more then one master rune on it, even if theyre different
@@Ed-xo9pc Just curious, I don't know the dwarf rules that well, but based on the wording above - "Master runes ... cannot be used together on the same battlefield" -- implies you can't have more than one master run on the battlefield. Was there some clarification on the rules in an errata (or whatever they're called), or is this just how you play it?
@@trisbane4086 rule 4, it says no master rune may be used more than once per army and no more than one Master rune can be inscribed on an item. Master runes are so powerful that they cannot be combined together on the same item or used together on the same battlefield. The wording is meant to indicate that two master runes can't be used at the same time . The prior wording indicates you can have more than one, at least that's always been my understanding
Rule 5 says apart from master runes (which can only be used once) other runes can be combined as you wish to produce varied effects.
The whole passage indicates multiple master runes are ok they can just never be combined in any way
@@Ed-xo9pc Yeah, the passage that precedes the other one seems to imply multiple master runes (just not two of the same type) can be used. Otherwise, one would think they wouldn't have included it at all and just said "only one master rune per army." Alright, thanks for clarifying mate!

Unless I remember it wrong you at least in 7th ed. have roll for leadership to avoid going over the board after over run else the unit is lost.

@@rogueelementgaming I checked the actual 6th editon rules and the chasing unit that runs overboard is simply removed and then placed back to where it ran over in the next movement phase and it's treated as being moved for the turn it returns to play.
Isn't the vampire book the item that after each use must roll a d6 and with a 1 lose its power?
