Always wear eye protection while using a weed whacker/eater as well as long pants and sturdy shoes or boots, as someone already mentioned. Wear hearing protection if you are using a 2 cycle engine weedwhacker. Also be careful to not endanger other people or cars nearby with flying debris you may be creating. Pay attention 👍😊
Yesssss. For example of how hard stuff hits you when your doing it…I thought I was just getting hit in the arms with debris, turns out I had upset a yellow jacket nest and was getting stung (it was about the time I was fighting them off and letting the weed eater stop that I got something shot into my eye as well cause I was dumb and not wearing eye protection (Florida humidity makes it hard sometimes)).
@@vinceliav4577 It only takes a second of carelessness to cause long term issues. The older me is more careful ☺ I use a helmet that has a face screen and hearing protectors attached for weed eater and chainsaw. Medical bills aren't cheap. Take care and God bless
I didn't have anyone around to teach me these things growing up. Even though I'm a middle-aged adult now, I'm still learning. Your videos are informative and useful. And I share your dad jokes with my friends lol
Hey, I know I am one of many but I just want to say thank you. My dad died when I was just 14 (I'm 18 now) and for the past year this channel has helped me help my single mom and grandma around the house. Truly, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I purchased a weed eater and used it till it ran out string. I followed instructions but couldn't get the string refilled. Thanks Dad for the visual instructions I've already reloaded my string with your help👍😄👍
thank you for this, truly. my family isn't the best and refused to teach me anything then gets mad when I don't know how to do it, so thank you for being the dad I needed.
It's like you knew that I had stopped weedeating because I couldn't figure out how to refill the string...😅 Thank you for being there when nobody else is.
I started following you before my dad passed. This is just the dadvice I need. I inherited my dads property (my childhood home) and the lawn has been uhh.. wild to say the least. Thank you for this content!
hello, i just wanna say that your content is super helpful, especially for kids who grew up without a father. thank you for everything you do. i thought that the internet was just a complete horrible place, and then i found your channel :]
Beautiful yard ❤ we appreciate you. Best part is gow you don't assume we already know something and you explain everything. I'm one of those that HAS QUESTIONS LOL I'm sure annoyingly so. I watch your videos and feel confident I could do it. You are a gift 🎁 as always I appreciate you ❤
I teared up and struggled not to cry watching this... my dad passed away last August and he was the one that always taught me how to do things so I would never have to rely on anyone. I had to feed line into HIS weed eater today to do my own yard for the 1st time ever (Im allergic to grass so I never had to do it) and I had no idea how because he always took care of that stuff for me. I remembered this account existed right away. This video plus all the "figure it out kid" skills my dad taught me in my life together were enough for me to work out how to do it for a weed eater not exactly like these but a little bit similar to the 1st one. Even with this being an older video, you helped me not break down today and to get it done what I needed to also. Thank you for being her for those of us without a dad to do it ❤
This came up at the perfect time! I just bought my first ever weed eater and have struggled to get it strung properly. I’ve never lived anywhere where I had to take care of my own lawn until now so I’m still learning how to use it properly. Slowly getting the hang of it.
Mate, even though I do have a dad, I just want to say that what you're doing is incredible, you are a truly amazing human being and you deserve to know that, thank you for being you and I hope you know that.
Thanks "Dad"! I'm one of the folks who requested this How Do I. :-) I have a Ryobi weed eater too, but a lower price point than yours (18 volt battery). My unit takes pre-filled spools of .065 line, just one line coming out not two, and it advances the line each time it stops (no bouncing). I'm learning to use it as an edger as well (turning it on its side), but that seems to use a lot more line; maybe hitting against cement chews the line up? One warning I could give is to be careful when replacing the line. Like you mentioned @18:00, it trims off any excess line first thing once you start it. When doing this, make sure that you're holding the unit away from your body (like you did). I didn't think of it, and that little piece of flying line gave me a nice cut on my leg. Nothing that a band-aid couldn't fix, but so easily avoided. And yet another reason to wear eye protection with these tools. :-)
My dad died of Nasopharyngeal Cancer when I was 14 and I still haven't learned much from him but you have filled the void thank you Dad,How Do I!? Love From INDONESIA🇮🇩
Thank you! I have so much yard work to do and my husband has medical issues so he can’t do the work. You have given me the knowledge I needed. Thanks again!
Omg!! You have no idea how helpful this video has been! I have literally destroyed one of my weed whackers because I didn’t know what I was doing. The second one would’ve also been destroyed. 🙌🙏
Been watching since the very first video. Very useful. My dad left when I was in 1st grade so learning things from dad didn't happen. Glad to have you around
Thank you, I appreciate all the help and support you do for all of the people you have helped. Although my father is still alive, I still approve of you as one of my biggest helpers, I truly am so appreciative of your work, Thank you again.
Enjoyed your tutorial. I use a weed eater as well, so strongly suggest wearing the clear safety glasses. The weed eater will kick up stones, etc. Protect your eyes. Also, wear sturdy shoes, long pants. 👏👏👏
What a coincidence! I was just talking to my own dad about his weed wacker (that's what we call "weed eaters" over here lol). Anyway, the machine broke and he went in to see if it could be repaired. The people he spoke with said it wasn't possible and that he should just buy a new one. Instead, he checked the manufacturer, went online, found the specific part that was broken and replaced it himself! Saved $150!
I’ve followed you for a long time. I’m home for the weekend and my sweet mom needs her backyard fixed up. Knew you’d have a video for my situation. ❤️ thanks Dad!
Oh my gosh thank you! My husband passed a while ago and my Dad lives a long ways away and I’ve been so lost with many of these things! Love you from Iowa ❤️
You are cool man, actually, I don't have a good relation with my old man, I haven't talk to him in years, discovering your channel was the best thing I could do this year, keep doing this kind of videos!!! You are the best

I swear every time I need to do something that idk how you post a video explaining exactly what I need are we on the same page or what?! I literally just got a weed eater and had no clue how to do the plastic wire thingy. I don't have a good relationship with my dad so it's not like I can just give him a call I appreciate you.

I would love to ask you some "Dad How Do I" questions, but there rather inappropriate... That's okay though, you've helped me a lot. As a 14 year old, from the bottom of my heart thank you. Keep doing what your doing.
I myself would recommend a gas weedeater, if you do go for gas, I would highly recommend Stihl. That's what most of the landscapers use, and they have a wide variety of models to fit your budget. That's also what chainsaw I'd say at least 95% of anyone who uses a chainsaw professionally uses, they are just know for being the best at making small engines.
Just bought my first weed eater and am a little intimidated to figure out how to use it. First thought was, I wonder if the dad on youtube has a video for weed eaters? You came through! Thanks for all the solid tips!
