We loved working on the set with this film as a Military Advisor. It was a true joy to bring so many of our colleagues over to Alcoa and help. We watched the film in the theater for the day of premiere in Charlotte, NC.
What a beautiful message of God’s promise to all. It is amazing that His unconditional love is there for the very ones who continue to scorn Him. If the intolerant Christophobes would turn their energies from their rageful hate of Christians towards doing good, giving back and loving society the world would be a much better place.
Just spent the night watching this movie on iTunes and researching the true historical account of the events. It looks like the makers of this movie stuck very close to what really happened, aside from a few theatrical additions in order to keep the viewers attention. What was especially of interest was the personal accounts of the two girls who's stories are followed closely, Barbara & Marie. Google "The Narrative of Marie le Roy and Barbara Leininger" for their recounting of their captivity as written down by a British officer who welcomed them back from captivity. Fascinating! If this movie "truly" portrayed what these particular "Native American Tribes" did to them, we would be talking much much worse than Abu Ghraib atrocities and it would have to be rated triple R. I do believe the makers did a great job telling the story with a difficult subject matter in our politically correct culture today. Hollywood execs would "never" make a movie like this because they are too busy trying to make movies that assuage white guilt from the many atrocities that do exist in our history concerning the treatment of the Native American. Little Big Horn comes to mind here. However, this movie is a refreshing look at the other side and possibly why white anglos mistreated Native Americans in many cases. I am not excusing the many evils of white settlers but I am simply pointing out that there are two sides to the story. Oh what evil reigns in the heart of any human being, red, yellow, black or white, when they are not surrendered to the Prince of Peace! It is also a true accounting of America's roots, that there were many people of faith who fled European oppression of those who would not practice their faith as the state dictated. Tens of thousands of people fled the oppression of European state sanctioned denominationalism to the freedom of religion that existed in America. Tens of thousands of people were looking for freedom to practice their Biblical faith as their conscience dictated without the state telling them how to worship. This is something else that Hollywood execs would never produce as it cuts against the modern narrative that all of our founders were not men of faith but were drunken deists. The movie correctly portrayed how the French would not let anyone other than Catholics settle in their land yet most of the colonies sought to settle any "Christian" denomination including Catholicism. Thus at our founding, there was not "separation of church and state" as is interpreted today in America by the masses but there was "separation of the state from the church" in that no one wanted a 'state' sanction denomination that would Lord over all of the other Christian denominations. But our founders recognized, (with the exception of Thomas Pain and maybe 1 or 2 others) including our first president, that we were doomed as a nation if the God of the Bible was not our foundation for our constitution and our laws. Just google and read George Washington's inaugural address if you do not believe me. We were to be governed by the God who made natural law and He bestowed certain rights that government could not grant nor could they take away. So, the people have a right to throw off any government or governing authority that denied those God given rights. Those are the facts all-be-it politically incorrect according to today's narrative but a simple reading of the original writings of our founders and not someone's interpretation of them clearly paints that picture. Great job on the movie guys although, I understand why the masses will pretty much hate this movie. All the best.
I heard this movie is coming out on DVD, April 21 of this year. I so can't wait! I didn't get to see it in a theater!! I am so proud of this... I am a Christian and just found out on Ancestry and help of a relative, that Barbara Leininger is my 5th great grandmother! And of course, Regina an aunt. So happy to know that I will se them in Heaven some day!!
This movie must be powerful to engender such insane hatred from those whose father is the god of this world. The total budget for this film is maybe one billionth of the entertainment industry's total. Yet the Hunger games movies engendered very little abhorrence at a distinctly American culture, albeit a futuristic one, that had children fight to the death.
this is just my take- just my opinion but I do take issue in the fact that in this flick or at least in this trailer there is no mention of Jesus Christ whatsoever.
I suppose we're supposed to believe that all Christians are pretty just like the 'perfect' specimens that were chosen for this film. Christian films are so lame because they are so worldly. I would not cross the road to see this. And neither should you. Instead, read a book called 'Puritans among the Indians.'
I agree with you. Not all Christians are 'perfect', in fact, none of us are and many of us are lousy examples of the Christ we're supposed to be following. But just as you shouldn't judge all Germans by Hitler's example, please don't judge all Christians by the bad examples you have seen. This movie happens to be a good example from what I can tell.
I have read the real history from Puritans who were honest enough not to lie about it. And you can see by my calm decent composition that I am more decent than you are, and therefore the one telling the truth. The Indian scalpers forfeited their right to the land, and now we rule.
Well done! I look forward to seeing Alone Yet Not Alone.

I saw this movie in 2013 when it came out. The movie was so well done, I loved everything about it.

Would be a better place without people killing and persecuting people based on old books full of torture, rape and murder and evil "gods".
Gales99 From what books are you talking about? The book this movie is based on is a true story.
+Arlin Miller I think he talk to the bible!
The Lie Detective did someone not drink their bottle?

This is about my family lol... I'm a leininger
Stereotypical portrayal of the British officer.
Not racist just history...so terrible what the government did to the Indians
So terrible what the two sisters went through. They were just kids. But what great faith they had to endure the years in captivity.
No kidding!

Does anyone know when this will be released on dvd?
In theaters 13 June 2014. No date set for DVD release.
¿Está prohibido votar por una película? Es la primera vez que me lo observan.
Isn't this production affiliated with Christian Reconstructionism and Doug Phillips?

Oh crap a big brown bear taking a shit in the woods.... Shit movie too.

The story is true and the girls were from Germany. They cast people who resembled Germans. Always amazes me that it is OK to criticize blondes.
Arlin Miller I'm criticizing the makers of the film, not the color of hair. Read carefully and you won't make a fool of yourself the next time.
The bad Christians were usually the false ones, like the Roman Catholics. As for the Indians, they forfeited their land by their savagery upon it.
