Martha Summerhayes, author of "Vanished Arizona", described how Native American women came to her aid when she gave birth to her son alone after a difficult delivery. She described how she lay exhausted, unable to care for her son, when through the door came the wives of the local Native American chiefs. They washed her, the baby, tidied up the cabin, put the baby in a hanging cradle next to her, fed her and then left. She wrote she shed tears saying goodbye to them when her husband's tour of duty ended. Kipling was right when he wrote "Judy O'Grady and the Colonel's wife are sisters under the skin."
He rhymed Lady with O''Grady, of course: "When you get to a man in the case, They're like as a row of pins - For the Colonel's Lady an' Judy O'Grady Are sisters under their skins"

I never heard of this film before. That's probably because it was a German language production, filmed in South Africa and released exclusively on German television. Anyhow, I saw a Swedish film series ages ago with a similar tone and narrative that took place in the same timeline as this German film. It was The Emigrants (1971) and the follow-on film The New Land (1972) with Max von Sydow & Liv Ullmann. The movies were based on a book series by Vilhelm Moberg and were about a struggling Swedish farmer who, in search of a better life, moved his family to the Minnesota territory in the 1840s. Both films were excellent. So much so that they were both nominated for multiple Awards, and both films won the Golden Globe for best foreign film. And to top things off, ABC Television in 1974 made an Americanized show based on films called, The New Land, which starred a very young Kurt Russell. You are partially correct. The diffusion of European (white) technology across the continent was a long process. The French and Indian War was fought in the east, long before natives farther west had traded for guns. That said, horses and guns moved more or less together, so if a tribe had horses and knew how to ride them, they almost certainly had seen guns. And by the mid-1800s (when this film was set), all the tribes out west had access to guns. Whether they also had access to powder and bullets is another question.
This particular gun is a Howitzer. Howitzers work differently from other guns at the time. It's more of a cannon and mortar. The Howitzers didn't make it out West till later.

Yes! Deutsch-Lakota. LOL
Hello.. Where I can see this movie? Please
Tupi
There were natives that could speak Spanish,French,English and Russian in the case of Alaska.
Yes give the captive girls a rifle. As if she wouldn’t use it on someone who captured her and threatened her. Terrible plot hole.
Where I can watch the full movie? Pls I need to know
Son muchos y luchan bien.
Creo que el rifle es de un disparo.
The girl would only have 1 shot, and both her and those natives know that if she really did that, the rest would brutally kill her.
How much ammunition in it can kill 10 braves?

American Mini Series "Into the West" Covers one family through several generations. It begins with the trappers going west going through westward expansion and ending with somewhere after the railroad, gold rush, land runs etc. It covers the entire history of what happened to the Native American people. It's an eye opener and I feel that everyone should watch.

Or watch it?
It is a movie called "Wild Land" - "In einem wilden Land" (Original Title)
I watch it at tubi
The movie title makes me feel wrong. I’m not Native American but North America wasn’t wild land. To the settler - it is best put as a conquest. To the native - they r being robbed. Maybe I’m just reading too much into this.
To the settlers it was wild, I guess. Of course the natives had been living there since the Ice Ages and took such great care of the land that it was practically in pristine condition.
The native Americans took territory, possessions, lives, slaves, against other tribes, just like the rest of the world’s civilizations did to others.
@@stuartstuart866 okay sure, whatever you need to tell yourself to feed your conscious.
@@bryanalejandro7323 That's true, there was differents tribes and some were at war with each other. Kinda like in Africa, where different tribes were at war with each other and captured rival tribe members were traded with the Europeans. Africans sold other Africans as slave. Africans played a big role in the slave trade, they were the biggest slave traders of the era.

American Indians kidnaped women and children from pioneer families, from wagon trains, from colonial settlements. They suffered their own trail of tears by the thousands.
How exactly are they befriending? A guy Put a knife next to their throat?
Westerns always have some music playing in the TeePee out of sight
So do all movies. Darth Vader was followed by a whole orchestra.
