Wow, those ridiculous themed program windows on the desktop actually make me a little nostalgic for the very late 90s. To think there was a time we thought it was cool to have apps shaped like jelly beans. (It was kind of "gas leak year" for the entire shareware\freeware industry...)
FUN FACT: The developer of this software is Wayforward, who are still developing games to this day and are responsible for games such as Ducktales Remastered, the Shantae series, Double Dragon Neon, and so much more
9:20 _The Road Ahead_ was the book that famously made no mention of the Internet whatever, since Gates and Microsoft didn’t see it as being relevant to their business plans. Until a hastily-appended addendum was tacked on to the book to try to remedy this glaring shortcoming.
6:52 I always thought that "Lose" was put there to be the opposite of WIN, the commonly used command to start Windows in the early 90s. Anyway, this was a fun trip down memory lane, remembering seeing this in stores.
I played through every single bit of this when I was a kid and I loved it. I still reference some of the Campus Cam videos to this day. But I've never been accused of having good taste.
Microshaft Winblows 98 is basically one of those flash game windows parodies you'd find on Newgrounds, including the dumb start menu jokes and weird programs. Except this is a commercial game. It sold for money.

I got this and 2 other Parotty programs at a dollarstore long ago. One was a Star Wars parody, but I can't remember its name. The other was a parody of Myst, called Pyst. They were about the same quality as this one.
This looks like the perfect definition of "having the ability but not the talent." Now, if it was a copy of Michaelsoft Binbows now, we'd be talking something hot

I had this and another Parroty Interactive parody called Star Warped (obvious Star Wars parody) I had bought from a local dollar store years ago when I had a Windows 98 computer. Definitely campy with the humor both were attempting to pull, especially with Winblows running things into the ground with the Windows puns.
Microshaft Winblows 98 sounds annoying, but at the same time, Microsoft was in court for the antitrust case in 1998, because they were monopoly, so seeing a program that is essentially making fun of Microsoft is pretty funny.
I remember this! All the way down to that microshaft exploder music and the "where do you want to go? TODAY?" haha. Yeah it was lame and like a lot of parody, didn't age very well. But I was a kid and always appreciated this kinda stuff, I thought it was great.
"Monty pythons complete waste of time" is a funny software for windows 3.1,I recommend trying that on your channel. it has a very British taste of humor (you may have guessed from the name).some people may not feel its meanings.
Keep that windows98 installation CD and reg number. I just used an old Windows98 Installation CD to find a problem on an install of Windows 7 hangup. It is easy to access fdisk from booting the CD, as well as some other utilities. This was on an old laptop that ran Windows Vista (so you know why I was upgrading it) and had started hanging during bootup. I cannot tell you how much I hate Vista. Anyhow, I have my Windows95, Windows98, Windows XP, and Windows 7 CD's along with a couple Redhat Linux CD's. Always good to keep them on hand. You never know when they will come in handy.
1:23 In much of the world, they would be pronounced differently, too. Yet not in the US? I’ve wondered how you tell the difference between, say, “waiting” and “wading”? As in “I’ve been waiting for a while for the flood waters to recede” versus “I’ve been wading ...”.
reminds me a lot of going to the cinema and enduring the first Deadpool film... I never saw the followups, because, no I do not want to expose myself to that torture again.
Around this time period I was just a little kid but hooked on a Dilbert game I got at the store. I don’t know why I liked it so much it was all office humor.
Did some reading on this program. Apparently WayForward (who later made the Shantae series) helped out with developing this program
