This is why I love my University's basketball program. 2 Coaches in 44 years. Sure we haven't won the title yet, but the consistency of winning games and the Big Ten has been so great to watch. I was in the same year as "The Baby Boilers" class of Hummel, Etwaune, and JaJuan. They are legends just as much as anyone else in this program in my eyes. Boiler up!
I've learned I don't have the crying emotion for happiness, rather I just yelled BTFU extremely loud in my living room lol. Lets finish this thing and bring home the Championship!
As an IU fan and what we've been through, for almost 24 years now, I'll admit I'm jealous that Purdue was able to seamlessly transition from Keady to Painter. I know it's taken awhile, but we all knew that Painter was a good replacement for the success that Keady had. Purdue has had just 2 coaches in over 40 years. IU has had 5 since Knight and our current coach might not last that much longer. You have something special, Purdue, enjoy it.
Painter should be in the conversation for Coach of the Year based on the basketball stuff. But if it accounted for being a good human and building the program the right way, he wins it hands down.
Husker and Creighton Bluejay fan here. Purdue fans seem like great fans and hearing this kind of passion from players and the coach is really cool. I was in Detroit for the Sweet Sixteen games. I have been rooting for you guys in the tourney after the tough upset last year. Wish we could have got to see a Kalkbrenner v Edey matchup. Excited to see Edey v DJ Burns and hope to get to see Edey v Clingan.
Huge Purdue fan, and I appreciate this comment! We are a knowledgeable fan base that respects other teams. We’ve been on the receiving end of crazy horrible verbal abuse by other team’s fans, and to hear this from you gives me faith in college basketball fandom!
Purdue c/o 2004 here, I also appreciate this comment! I wish more fans showed respect for other teams. You guys had a great year (both of your teams), and those Huskers sure put a spanking on us in Lincoln! We've been so close, from the year Hummel tore his ACL, to Haas getting hurt in the first round I believe it was, to one rebound away in 2019, and then the most embarrassing & disappointing 1st round loss last year, this just means so much to us!
Hugely appreciate it. It has been a rough year of ridicule because of how last year ended. After every win people always just said 1 and done in the tournament. We have had faith in this team and they are all stand up guys. Edey spent hours after every home game including senior night signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. Who does that? This is a truly special team and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I appreciate all the blood sweat and tears they have given. It's been a ride.
I am a Proud Boilermaker!! I Chanted Robbie Hummel at games when he played . Paint deserves his Flowers, He is a Great Leader of great men . I have been Diehard since the 3 amigos. We are PURDUE!
ive lived indiana my whole life, not far from bloomington, but always cheered purdue basketball.. this is long time coming for a great program..very happy for them all...
I’m going to be listening to this clip over and over until Saturday. Purdue University is such a great school and I really believe it has the best people.
What I wouldn't give for a video of this. While I love the audio and can get the emotions it is something I want my kids (especially my sons to see). Men, guys they know, showing emotion and appreciation to the ones who helped you stand up and be who you are (both ways).
There are NOT too nicer guys in the World of Sports...than Robbie Hummel & Matt Painter🤗👊...and for ALL the ex Players & Alumni...what a great, well-deserved moment ! But NOW--it is time to BUTTON UP & Go Get MORE ! One Game at a TIme...👊🤜
I cried at the end of the game! It just means so much as an alum, being so close so many times, and having so many disappointments in the tournament in recent years (none bigger than last year), and even though I was never a part of the basketball program, I was a part of Purdue University for 4 great years of my life, so I feel much more connected to this team than any favorite pro team. Of course I really hope they can win 2 more games, but finally getting to a Final Four is just so big for this University and this program, and coach Painter - a class act, and a program full of class and character! Love this team, and so proud of those young men!
I was and am a huge Robbie Hummel fan. A Purdue fan since I graduated from Purdue in the early 80’s it’s great to hear this interaction between former coach and player. Congratulations Purdue.. you’re not finished yet. We have a little more work to do…. Boiler Up!
Born and raised in West Lafayette! This is a great moment! Went to high school blocks from Mackey, this is a special team and a special moment! We are rolling! BOILER UP!
As a true college basketball fan you absolutely have to love this. Gene keady. Glen robinson. Cuonzo martin. Todd mitchell. Troy lewis. ❤❤❤ thank you for entertaining me for all these decades
Thank you Carolina Tarheels for the astronomical number of Final Fours and numerous National Championships. I could never imagine what it is like to be a Purdue fan.
@JTH-hm8ew I'm a unc fan too, def feel blessed...4 chips (!!!!)since I've been a fan and 5 total in my lifetime is kinda crazy..plus consistency throughout the decades with no real lull..
Hardcore, long time IU fan. Big congrats y’all. I know what your experiencing, been quite some time ago tho. Bring a title to our Indiana home, and hang a banner in Mackey. ISU Sycamores do the same.
Good grief…all the feels. Love it. Thankful for everyone’s blood, sweat, and tears getting to this point. Not just the current team, but I think about watching Purdue growing up, all through college, of course the year that wasn’t with Robbie’s ACL, the Virginia heartbreak, last year’s humble stew we had to simmer in all year. Now Let’s stinking get it all boys.
I am an Illinoian, but I hope Purdue wins a National Championship! It is about time either Illinois or Purdue wins one! Maybe the real “Indiana” can celebrate!
This is an incredible moment ya'll captured, thank you for sharing this audio. Hearing these guys get choked up just gives me all the feels. Love my Boilers! In failure and in success. Love being a Boilermaker! Ever grateful, ever true.
The continuity make this run mean more as an alumni during the early Painter years. The players change every year but there’s something about feeling connected that makes it more special.
The amount of Purdue games on TV Hummel has called the last few years is crazy. Mostly because he is very good at it and gets the best games, which usually involve Purdue. He is so good at staying unbiased that I bet he hated that he cracked today lol, but I imagine 99% of people listening understood and was happy for him.

Purdue will be fortunate not to lose by more than 25 points to UCONN.
As a Spartan fan this was super dope to hear, go win it all Boilermakers
I'm a Indiana fan and agree with you. Im happy for them
It has been wayyyyy too long for the Big Ten since your Spartans won it in 2000. Hopefully our Boilers can get it done this year!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Purdue will be fortunate to come within 25 points against UCONN.
@@JTH-hm8ew oh, ok. Guess they should just skip the games and hand UCONN the trophy, huh?

Thank You. Nothing in the regular season touches Purdue vs. Indiana (which made the 1979 NIT Championship Game hurt even more my freshman year).
I'm happy for Robbie Hummel. He is my favorite broadcaster
Hummel & Benetti are the best!
Me too! Go Green still forever! #SD4L 💚🤍

I guess I am spoiled being a Carolina fan but I take Final Fours for granted since UNC has the NCAA record for most Final Four appearances at 21.
@@JTH-hm8ew think of it like this... it would be like UNC making the college football playoff (the one we've had with 4 teams, not the new one)
