In case no one explained this yet, he's called Kage because he ISN'T Evil Ryu. Evil Ryu is Ryu consumed by his Satsui no Hado. After Ryu learned Mu no Ken and got rid of his Satsui no Hado, it manifested into its own form in the same way Omen from Killer Instinct, who originally was just evil energy corrupting Jago into Shadow Jago was expelled from him and gained its own form. Kage is essentially a way to have Evil Ryu in the game while simultaneously killing off the character since he plays like an altered Evil Ryu.
@Viszlát Nyár Evil Ryu was always there to show what would happened if Ryu ever got corrupted by the Satsui no Hado and was always going to be killed off since by Ryu masters Mu no Ken by 3rd Strike. As of SFV, Ryu has at least learned Mu no Ken and doesn't have to worry about getting consumed by the Satsui no Hado, meaning Evil Eyu is no longer possible, so Kage was created as a way to keep his gameplay around. If you're familiar with Blazblue, this is the same reason Lambda-11 was created in Continuum Shift; to replace Nu-13, who died in the previous game, and keep her Sword Summoner gameplay around.
You know that moment when Ryu mastered the Power of Nothingness in Story Mode? Well that pretty much removed all of the Dark Hado from him, which ended up becoming Kage as a result, a literal shadow of Ryu no longer bound by the very individual he's been inside for so long.
That trick for the trials worked immensely, managed to do them eventually too, thanks for sharing! It also works for his immediate air fireballs too, input the motion to fireball then jump and hit the punch button (works for Akuma's air fireballs too). TURKEY NECKS FOR EVERYONE!
