It's incredible engineering, no doubt. But I don't know about limited space. If you have never been inside a C-17 or seen them in person, its hard to describe just how ungodly huge this plane is. The first time I walked up the back ramp into one was one of the few times in my life I've been literally speechless.

That carrier is massive.
Apache loading and unloading is a piece of cake. A cobra or Huey has to have parts removed and are on skids. Jack up wheels and manpower

Just look at those luxurious, 1st class style seats, sometimes with extended leg room!
I bet these are fantastic at putting stuff in a car, garage or shed. I’ll never fail to be astounded by a helicopter being amputated of bits off it, put it into a huge plane, then put it back together again

A reply to John. I did the math it's cheaper to fly the ah64 to it's combat airfield then to fly it halfway around d the world. Everytime they use the c17 to move equipment they save money with it's 96% reliability they save money.

Pretty sure you're kidding. The aircraft itself is larger than the interior when completely assembled. Have to partial disassemble to get it in and transport

this is not Japan
that would require additional R&D to design a robotic system that unloads the chopper. that would also require a "decent" amount of budget to be spent.
