    Thank you for sharing this and for the time you’ve spent finding the cause of the issues. I’m just building the very same truck so for now will lock it in the low gear I think

      You're welcome, Paul. I must stress that many people have had absolutely no issues, so you may well be fine, but this was my honest experience.
      I'm doing the same. I won't miss the 2-speed.

    What a frustrating issue!! I know my friend is having issues with his 2 speed as well. Time for Gmade to step up, start listening to their customers again, and fix this issue!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

      - Maybe I can help... !!? 🤔
      I have tried "to help" the RC Scotsman.
      ... But he does not "get" exactly (all) the things (ideas) "from experience", I have "laid-out" for him !!! 😔 But I own my own (GS02F) by Gmade, but I do not think everyone can interprate "what I told him".
      🙄 Just leave me your issue, and I will check my TH-cam account, for I coming messages in the comment "REPLY" section of this chat & channel. 😀👌
      - I do not have the ability to do all the chat stuff, but I am willing to help, and I know a lot about "design, physics, weight distribution, layout, technical performance, and most similar areas !!!!
      ... Please feel free to leave me a question or comment, for I usually (can) "figure-out" your/the issue or problem !!
      - Thanks, Paul 💪🇺🇲

    Sorry to hear you're having issues :( I have the Komodo DC and Bom both GS02F versions and i have had drivetrain issues with the Komodo but not the Bom. I think the main culprit is the aggressive overdrive. The front driveshaft seemed to come off after runs but the Komodo is mainly a tow rig and sees a lot of high traction surfaces like asphalt or concrete. Meanwhile the Bom is kept strictly off road and never experienced any drivetrain issues. Since I didn't have any issues personally with the 2 speed trans on my trucks, I put in the Zero Overdrive gear set from Gmade into the Komodo and that resolved the issue for me. I think theyre still good trucks but unfortunately there are some "quirks" of being an independent and small company unlike Axial (Horizon Hobby) or Element (Thunder Tiger/AE)

      Thank you for the information, that's very helpful. Nice to know other people's situations and what seems to tip it over the edge and what doesn't.
      I have since rebuilt mine and fitted new slipper pads, so am looking forward to testing it without the 2 speed. I'm happy to give that up. I do want to keep the overdrive at the moment, so we'll see.
      Thanks again!

    @RCOffRoad76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The shifting on my Bom was very temperamental, sometimes it would shift most of the time it wouldn't, in the end said sod it, locked it in first and put a servo winch in place of the shift servo, with the overdrive there more suited to slow rock crawling than fast trail running I think, would definitely say your problems will be over without the 2 speed 👍

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's little more than a gimmick, really. I'd be much happier with a winch, as well. We'll see if everything works out OK! Cheers!

    I'm massively tempted by a GS-02F (probably the BOM) but have seen a few people have issues with the diff gears breaking down. This video is a really interesting diagnosis. Have you been able to put it through its paces with the gearbox locked in 1st yet? Is it holding up?
    Thanks for taking the time to explain what you found, really helpful video.

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phil. Thanks for dropping by.
      I've finally gotten to the bottom of everything and will soon be doing a video explaining what went on. In short: it's a really good truck, but my issues were caused partially by the 2-speed and partially by my own error.

    , but hasn't broken anything yet, although I run junfac hardened driveshafts from new,I will now watch the video 😁😁and see if you get similar.Edit to add, cable tie ing up the gear shift in Low is by far the most reliable mod to the gearbox if want to go faster use 3s ,...

      Yeah, I'm hearing more and more of that.
      I might add a cable tie, in-addition to the e-clip. Save the poor gearbox from that awful shunting! I've been using 3s the entire time!

    Any progress on the 2 speed? I’ve reached out to Gmade… and specifically mentioned your video. They said it was a bushing (plastic bearing) and it was the lipped one that needs to be addressed.
    This was not my issue to the binding you are experiencing! Do we have a fix yet?

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ethan. Yes, some progress has been made. I'm hoping to have a video out in the next few days explaining it. In short; Gmade are correct. However, there was another issue with the front bevel gear. Keep an eye out and I'll try and get the video done asap!

    • @ethanmoore8157
      @ethanmoore8157 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking forward to watching your video! Hopefully the fix works for other users and myself. I had my lipped bushing oriented correctly.
      Also looking forward to hearing about the front bevel gear issue. The two securing post I have around the bearings inside the diff cause friction between the diff housing and the small bevel inside. I have not tightened them to tightly as the manual says and no mater what I do… I get this friction there.

    Interesting. I thought in your original video it sounded like the dogs were slipping in the two speed, but hadn't seen how this one goes together. Is there any wear on the selector or the two gears? How about the gearbox bearings? It wouldn't take much mis-alignment or wear on the mating surfaces for you to have, instead of a gear selector, a nice impact driver with the clutch riding up over the opposite surface in the selected gear instead of locking in place.

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No wear at all! Bearings are all good, too. Honestly, after 5, or 6, gearbox rebuilds, I couldn't see any visible wear, or issues.

      Hi there. Unfortunately, I still haven't solved mine. After another rebuild, locking-off the two speed and tightening the slipper, it was still doing the same thing. I've ordered some new slipper pads, in-case they've glazed and are slipping, causing the issues. I'll let you know!

    Very dissapointing with Gmade. Same vibes as the Jumpshot MT. Had the potential to be fantastic but poor quality materials let both down.
    I have a Gmade GOM, with a 2 speed and similar pumpkins on the Axle and the 2 speed on it, is pure cheese as well. When shifting it frequently likes to go into neutral between gears.
    Did you shim the gears in the axles as well?
    Considering the price of these trucks, you'd think the build quality would be similar to some of the bigger competitors.

    • @TheRCScotsman
      @TheRCScotsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it is a shame. The GS02 was such a tank! Apparently, so was the GS01.
      I didn't shim the axles on the GS02F, because the tolerances were spot-on. I can't see that being the issue, though. I only shimmed the GS02 axles, because they were notchy. The GS02F axles simply have to put up with so much more load and abuse.
      Hopefully, Gmade respond, as they have done, in the past.
