The Ending Credits sequence is honest to god one of the best I’ve ever seen for anime. Most anime EDs have some happy beats, chill nonsense or some awesome cool spectacle happening with some nice animation, and good beats you wanna vibe with, that I honestly tend to usually just skip over altogether. THIS ED however. It told a story. A character’s emotions, neon settings depicting the mood and atmosphere of the moment, the haunting sounds of the music that also reflect very well to the characters and events, and how it hints and eventually adds up to something. And adding how finishing the show re-contextualized that whole ending sequence, makes that ED sequence absolutely crushing. Mai Yoneyama’s direction here was absolutely stellar, and Dawid’s performance throughout the whole track was breathtaking in really settling you on what kind of emotions it wants you to have on the story. Truly, nothing short of iconic.
Composer here. Sometimes I need to listen to a piece a few times before I begin to fall in love with it, other times it happens on the first listen. This song - both the original and this cover - fall into the latter category
I love this song way more than the “stay at my house” one or whatever it’s called. It’s a great song too don’t get me wrong; but this one just hits the feelers more. I feel like others get sadder from the other one, but I feel like the vibe of this song embodies the sadness of the ultimate conclusion of Edgerunners more. The feeling it creates is the feeling that I imagine Lucy is feeling. Such a sad and tragic, but beautifully and brilliantly crafted love story. Lucy got to the moon and fulfilled her dream thanks to David, and David’s dream was Lucy fulfilling her dream; so in the end… even in death, he fulfilled both of their dreams.
Your music was there in some of the darkest days of my life. It was there during some of the best days. I have loved every second of listening to Samuel Kim Music.
