I love my 07 Si coupe !! got it @ 18 in 2012 and had always loved it since. Funny thing is I actually thought the 8th gen civics were ugly when I was in middle school when they came out. But one day, I was shopping for a used car and I was set on getting a 06 RSX type s but once I sat inside the civic I knew it was the right car. I learned to drive manual with it. The only thing I had to change was the CMC like 2 times already but that the only thing. no check engine lights or anything. I got it with 74K miles and now it has 115k and this year it's getting painted since my clear coat is trashed by socal heat :/. Although my car has its imperfections wish I would have bought her new but I would never get rid of my car I have a strong bond with that thing lol
Picked up a 9th gen at 29k miles in 2017. 0% experience driving a manual with clutch. Test drove it, then made it home without a scratch. Made it my daily driver.
FOSSILGHOST Damn the market for them really sucks near me then because I can’t any within 100 miles of me under 13k. Found a 15’ with 53k miles for 16K. The one and only 9th gen I can find. Sucks I really wanna get into this car.
Steven Snow ig it depends on where you live, in my area i got my 2013 si for 17k with 60k miles on it, 2 years ago. They still go for 15-16k with same miles now and are hard to find
Hmm... No. I’ve owned Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans (specifically maximas) and Nissan can’t touch Toyota or Honda in terms of reliability. They did themselves in when they merged with Renault. And I sure as hell wouldn’t buy any other Japanese brand... say Mitsubishi.
enjoyed the review and its nice to see this car getting some recognition, they've been overlooked for years with the other manufacturers throwing boost at their engines and getting bigger numbers. you can make these cars fast of course, but what i love about them is how visceral and balanced they are from the factory while still being completely reliable, practical and cheap to own. its very easy to put them at their limit and the overall experience is so much fun. these are the last of their kind and kinda special as Hondas go, only the S2K, NSX, ITR and the 8th gen Si got the high revving VTEC/6spd/LSD combo in the US. Honda will never make an engine like the N/A K20 again for us Average Joes due to emissions and the horsepower wars, so go experience one of these while you can whether its just a drive or owning one. i'll have my 2010 FA5 for as long as possible.
I bought my Si new in 09 with 7 miles. It has 247k now. I just came back from a 1600 mile round trip. Solid car. I have it tuned as well. I get about 350 miles on a full tank opposed to the 280-290 or so.
these things looked goofy when they were new (especially the coupe, even more so the split tier dash) but they look in place with today's over styled behemoths
Loving this review, very cool owner and a sweet little car too.. very clean for it's age and miles in Michigan. Keep up these reviews.. would love for you to be able to hunt down an Acura TL with the 3.2 and manual transmission or even a Type S.. the Reliability he claims with over 200k miles makes me want to go out and find me one of these cars!

My favorite place to be, the interior of my 2010 SI.. Most reliable car I have ever owned. I have about 250K KM on my car, around 150K miles or so.. Bulletproof. Great car will miss it when I no longer have it.
This was my first car, didn’t even know how to drive a manual when I got it. I had to practice a couple of times in the parking lot 😂 bought mine at 96k miles and drove it for 6 years up to 170k miles without a single problem.
Mine currently has 255k miles. Redline it daily and the only issue I had was the EPS rack die but never had a check engine or any other issue after 12 years of ownership
This was a great video! You know, since you already make videos on new cars, I’d suggest that you create a segment for reviewing used cars as well! I know you’ve filmed a few older cars, but I think it should be done more often. I’m sure you have a lot of younger people or teenagers that watch your videos or are subbed to the channel that are looking to buy their first cars used & I think reviews on those would be helpful to them. Plus, it would be interesting in general to see on the channel too! I love these videos of older, used, higher-mileage cars!
I bought that exact same Si but with Nav in 2008, loved it, wish I still had it. Those mods are completely unnecessary. More torque was what that car needed, handling and braking were spot on right off the showroom floor and maybe summer performance tires depending on where you live or two sets of wheels and tires like I did.
Oh man the feeeeelss...I used to have an 07 FG2. Love those wheels guy. Get yourself a Tri-Y race header and you will fall in love with you car again.. Also, there is a way to actually use the Defrost mode vents without the A/C compressor running so it doesn't rob HP but keeps windows nice and clear. Google it!
I am selling my 2014 Accord Sport, which has been the best car I’ve ever had, and I am getting my Wife’s 2008 Civic Si with only 13 K miles on it. She ordered a new Carolla Hatchback and was going to sell her Civic Si and I couldn’t let her do that. I will miss my Accord but I love the 8th Gen Si so much. It’s black too, looks great. I am going to put different wheels on it though.
I miss my 06 Si. An amazing car exceot for the paint problems and leak issues. Other than taht car was super solid and ragged it out. Sold it at 100k miles and bought a mustang GT. The seats in my 06 Si were awesome too. Most comforatble seats ive ever had.
@@axebeard7677 Thanks. Biggest issue that I have with 8th gen is the body shape and poor visibility. Also the drive by wire, but I'll have to test drive first. I had a 7th gen which was awesome except for some of the reliability.
Haven't watched all of the video yet but I owin a 2009 Si with just under 210k and I can say with confidence that it takes redline everyday like a champ! Completely stock except a stock hondata tune and a short shifter and exedy OEM clutch. It is such a blast to drive!
Truly enjoyed this vid, about time someone showed this gen SI some love. I own a 2009 sedan with 12K original miles, purchased new after my son suggested I try one; the money flew out of my wallet the instant the clutch left the floor on the test ride. Odd as I’d owned many considerably higher performance/expensive cars but the SI instantaneously impressed me and continues to do so. The engine /transmission is pure magic, the chassis comfortable, competent, and tight as any BMW I’ve experienced. Car&Driver voted its 2.0 engine one of the top 10 in the world a number of years ago, I agree completely. I usually move cars quickly but have held this one longer than any other, honestly I’d only sell it for a 911. It is completely stock and original to include the battery, no rain or snow ever, and shows nicely wherever it goes to include dealers selling German cars, where oddly enough, many mechanic/sales people have come out to look and made offers to buy. Enough gushing, you get the point, grab one if you can and you won’t be sorry but incredibly shocked at the performance and quality on offer, the inexpensive cost the frosting!!! An under appreciated gem for sure. Be well.
You know, I think thought about it. The thing is since it was my first manual car, I did not know the difference and I guess I got used to it. Now the car is at 248K and I think maybe its too old.
Everyone freaking out in him ripping on it, chill that’s what this car is made for, as long as you keep up with maintenance like this owner does then you can rev it out all you want😂
I had an 08 sedan for 7 years. Beat the piss out of it, had it supercharged, and finally killed the engine at 175,000 miles. Definitely a car that is more than the numbers suggest.
If maintained right those honda Vtec engines stay strong. I had my old integra GSR up to like 177k miles when I sold it and it still screamed like it was brand new, stayed door to door with RSX type S and Si civics, pulled busses on my friends EP3 Si
My 09 so currently has about 92k I've put about 20k on it in the last year or so. All I've done so far is fluid changes and a new air filter. No problems at all. I know it hasn't been long but I'm excited to do some basic bolt-ons and eventually a Merc racing 1320 supercharger
Will the new Si last for 214k miles? Probably not with that turbo engine. Honda should've went for a more powerful N/A engine instead of a turbo engine.
OldNewSweetRides definitely love the torque on my 10th gen I have plenty of other vehicles if I’m worried about high rev’s top speed Honda’s are definitely more focused on track times
I just bought a 07 si coupe with 112k miles on it. My first Manual car. Drove it for about 15 mins to learn stick then drove it home over 6 hours away. It’s not really the “1st gear is the hardest” it’s honestly knowing when to downshift when taking a slow turn or corner. Especially the steep hills because I live in a hill country. You have to adapt pretty fast. It’s intimidating at first tbh.
This was my first car. I learned how to drive stick in it... I taught myself everything I know about spirited driving from that car... Bad 3rd gear synchro scared me into selling it a few years back and I have ALWAYS missed the high-revving instant throttle response... I now have an accord 2.0t and it is fast, but has NOT EVEN CLOSE to as much character as this thing had....
Picked up a 2011 si sedan with 142k miles first impressions I love the car great on gas runs great and very peppy with so much potential I love the vtec crossover and the 8000 redline for this to be a 2.0 liter na 4 cylinder it’s quite strong
My time spent in my 8th gen si way back when is what ultimately led to me rolling the dice and trading in my mk7r for a brz ts, 6 months in so far I have no regrets.
Funny, I had a 98 Integra LS also. drove it to 180 or so. sold it to my friend and he drove it to about 240 but than it got totalled. never had a problem. I really liked the steering on that car. i really felt what was going on in the car and it had a great view of the road with those thin a pillars that would never pas any modern crash test.
I have an 2009 Si sedan, very rock solid car. Currently I'm at 122k miles with not a single issue. If you're even considering buying one and find one in your area, don't sleep on it! They're becoming harder and harder to find and owners hardly ever want to part with them.
You don't feel vtec in the new cars because it's only on the exhaust valves like every other car with variable valve timing. There's no more true vtec (intake and exhaust valves).
Hey! I am in the market for one of these and how oddly coincidental that you have a review of one right now! :D And yes! I do agree with you. A shifter does make or break a car. Especially a sports car. For the longest time I have been fond of everything about the 86/BRZ EXCEPT the shifter design and feel and that has put me off on buying one for years. Especially after driving cars like the Miata (all generations) and the S2000. I own a newer BRZ now but I still find the shifter to be one of its lowest points relating to the drive.
Vtec is addicting on this. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was on it all day everyday. The sound is amazing. I agree though. The only drawback is the lack of power down low. These need to be revved out if you want to see the full potential.
damn son... the guy learned to drive manny on his test drive and drove it for 100k miles. I tried to drive with the manny for 2 weeks and ended with quivering anxiety and depression.

Did you ever get the valves adjusted? My maintenance minder is telling me to do it but not sure if necessary.
Thanks
For real? Or u swap new engine on?
Jesus
Jesus and i might be getting a 180k mile one and I’m wondering how long it might last me. You give me hope lol

@@Fifthcell sort of xD, didn't notice that..
One thing for sure is all previous 8th Gen owners loved the car and still miss it today. I know I enjoyed mine everyday up until I sold it. Wish I still had it.

Thank you for the review of that beautiful Civic!! I will post it to my page!!😊
6:36 holding on to the "oh shit" bar
Been a year since you posted this comment but that shit was hilarious 😂
Yooo facts he was prolly like CHIIILLLLLLLL
He reved the shit out the motor. Now let me drive your car. Lol
This motor was designed to rev and it does it well.
Shit breaks, better to have some fun with it. Been trying to kill my little EM2 work car with 243k miles so I can have an excuse to buy a K20 for a swap but no dice yet. Damn thing refuses to die so all I can do is wait
@@SpudEater you could cold start rev limit it for a few minutes, but that'd take a few months for it to die lol
@@IsaacPoopsAlot The D17 is a damn good little engine for sure, should've never replaced the damn valve cover gasket, spark plugs and coils in the damn thing, I would have the K swap sooner lol. I cant imagine ever separating from this trusty little car, it's way more reliable compared to my WRX lol. I'll drive it until the wheels fall off, I DID have a wheel fall off actually and had the hubs replaced. Just a damn good little car and it would be a shame if I ever had to get rid of it.
I'm a little late but just bought this car as my first manual and I'm loving it! so cool to see a car with nearly 150,000 more miles than mine and it looks like it drives just like mine!
My honda civic 2008 is almost at 200,000 miles. It’s still going strong.
I’m aiming for 300,000 miles.
Have 181K on mine......300 would be nice!
What you gonna do after it hits 300,000 miles?
@@andypichardo6146 maybe new engine
My 08 si is at 250k kms (155k miles) & it's been having that cold start chain rattle for about 2-3 years now & still runs like new, I really don't wanna spent $1200 to fix haha, I'd rather buy a new engine with low miles for that price
With proper maintenance....It Will never die 💀
I have the 2010 Civic Si sedan sitting at 132k miles on it. No engine light so far. The steering and capabilities this car can handle will make you think it’s a rear wheel drive. It handles corners quite well even on stock suspension. Lot of people sleeping on the 8th gen.
132k is low mileage for a Honda
is it really? I have a 07 si 120k miles
I have a 2009 at 136 miles. It still drives like new!
I have an 08 SI too. 72k miles, great car. First time I test drove it I knew I had to have it.
This man said he has a Volkswagen GTI as well?!?!?!? You are great my friend.
Picked up a 9th gen at 29k miles in 2017. 0% experience driving a manual with clutch. Test drove it, then made it home without a scratch. Made it my daily driver.
For how much $ if you don’t mind me asking. These cars are pretty hard to come by now.
@@steven8375 Approximately 19k. The price has significantly dropped since then. I see them go for under 13k with less then 50k on the odometer.
How many times did you stall it when you started and just took it home?
Japanese reliability!!
T Kh Japanese reliability in a car that was assembled in Canada! Lol
Still Japanese
most of the parts are made in Japan including the engine and transmission
Hmm...
Fifthcell I have my dealer tag from my si 70% made in Japan (engine, trans) and 30% made in Mexico
enjoyed the review and its nice to see this car getting some recognition, they've been overlooked for years with the other manufacturers throwing boost at their engines and getting bigger numbers. you can make these cars fast of course, but what i love about them is how visceral and balanced they are from the factory while still being completely reliable, practical and cheap to own. its very easy to put them at their limit and the overall experience is so much fun. these are the last of their kind and kinda special as Hondas go, only the S2K, NSX, ITR and the 8th gen Si got the high revving VTEC/6spd/LSD combo in the US.
Wow still looks new
ikr!
you wanna see new i have a 08 si coupe in black with 47k miles
these things looked goofy when they were new (especially the coupe, even more so the split tier dash) but they look in place with today's over styled behemoths
quirky yes, but i wouldn't say over styled @@ShaiyanHossain

Loving this review, very cool owner and a sweet little car too.. very clean for it's age and miles in Michigan. Keep up these reviews.. would love for you to be able to hunt down an Acura TL with the 3.2 and manual transmission or even a Type S.. the Reliability he claims with over 200k miles makes me want to go out and find me one of these cars!
I’m ngl bro I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse my mom has a regular civic sedan not sure if it’s like the dx or whatever has the 1.8l VTEC and ngl i have more fun doing pulls in my moms car
Man watching you drive makes me question everything, now I feel like Im not driving my car hard enough
My favorite place to be, the interior of my 2010 SI.. Most reliable car I have ever owned. I have about 250K KM on my car, around 150K miles or so.. Bulletproof. Great car will miss it when I no longer have it.
This was one of my favorite Si models. Awesome cars.
Bought and learned manual on an 8th gen fa5. Love this car it is practical fun
Honda Civic Si sedans are always a fun car to drive~
Had a 8th gen SI and now have a 9th Gen SI, tbh I would take the 8th gen every single day!
One of my few favorite youtuber :)
Thank you for your high quality videos
Last of the true high-revving n/a Hondas
This guys got about 100k miles on mine; im supercharged and im never bored of the car. no issues aside from maintenance and the damn starter.
Google it!
IVE GOT THE EXACT SAME CAR BUT IN BLACK & A BODY KIT
I LOVE MY CAR ITS SUPER FUN TO RIP AROUND TOWN IN ...
PERFECT TORQUE DAILY DRIVER...
The fact that I bought a 8th gen si sedan with 149k miles for 4,300$ makes me feel better about my first car with less regrets after watching this
Any hiccups yet?
I am selling my 2014 Accord Sport, which has been the best car I’ve ever had, and I am getting my Wife’s 2008 Civic Si with only 13 K miles on it. She ordered a new Carolla Hatchback and was going to sell her Civic Si and I couldn’t let her do that. I will miss my Accord but I love the 8th Gen Si so much. It’s black too, looks great. I am going to put different wheels on it though.
I got my SI with 8k miles on in '15... only put 6k more on it since then. I baby my baby.
Look at all those buttons on the center console!
Ah this was my first car..many great memories. Bought it with 85k and drove until 125k absolutely no problems. Doesn't get much more bulletproof
For a 17 year old design the interior looks surprisingly modern
I miss my 06 Si. An amazing car exceot for the paint problems and leak issues. Other than taht car was super solid and ragged it out. Sold it at 100k miles and bought a mustang GT. The seats in my 06 Si were awesome too. Most comforatble seats ive ever had.
Which leak issues? I'm looking to buy one
@@mckricks1 had a minor leak on the sunroof that was quickly repaired at the dealer. I wouldn’t let it prevent me from buying it
@@axebeard7677 Thanks.
I thought this was Sofyan Bey for a second. Sounds like him too!

Why does that name sound so familiar? Must be from a car review video here on TH-cam.
lol!!
Howard Johnson his channel is Redline Reviews lol been watching him for years!
Same

This and the 6th gen have the best sounding high-revving 4-cylinder engines ever
Be well.
The whole is greater than the sum of its Parts!- Aristotle. A Wise man
StrongsvilleGUY yes indeed my friend, concise and to the point!!
3:25 didn’t even know cop was behind u 😂
A hondadata flash pro, even with a base map, really wakes up the engine in this car. Surprised this guy doesn't have it.
I got hondata right away to get rid of that of rev hang.
adamra187 how do you do it ?
You know, I think thought about it. The thing is since it was my first manual car, I did not know the difference and I guess I got used to it. Now the car is at 248K and I think maybe its too old.
Everyone freaking out in him ripping on it, chill that’s what this car is made for, as long as you keep up with maintenance like this owner does then you can rev it out all you want😂
Man I've got a '91 Civic wagon with about 180000 on it. I forget how lucky I am to have a 30 year old car with less than 200000 miles on it.
this was also my 1st manual car...to this day was the most amazing car i've owned...
bought my 8th gen civic si 2 weeks ago and cant stop driving or thinking about it lol
Those cars so under rated, miss mine
I love these so much. My '07 has been such a fun and easy car to own

I think anyone who buys a civic si will never sell it until it dies
Love Honda , can't wait to get my own Si ✌🏽
Hopefully🤟🏽
My 09 so currently has about 92k I've put about 20k on it in the last year or so. All I've done so far is fluid changes and a new air filter. No problems at all. I know it hasn't been long but I'm excited to do some basic bolt-ons and eventually a Merc racing 1320 supercharger
Will the new Si last for 214k miles? Probably not with that turbo engine. Honda should've went for a more powerful N/A engine instead of a turbo engine.
You joking?
Wouldn’t meet any of the new fuel economy requirements
@@nickc6570 They forget that it gets almost 40mpg
A v-tec engine would last BETTER than a turbo! Honda should've stuck with the v-tec
Seeing you drive on 275 makes me miss living there, until I hear all the damn potholes.
"Shifter can make or break a car." Totally agree!
Picked up a 2011 si sedan with 142k miles first impressions I love the car great on gas runs great and very peppy with so much potential I love the vtec crossover and the 8000 redline for this to be a 2.0 liter na 4 cylinder it’s quite strong
How much did u pay for this car?
idk how people can talk shit about hondas , any REAL car lover respects any car . btw i have a 2008 si too sitting at 87k miles ! project car ;0
My time spent in my 8th gen si way back when is what ultimately led to me rolling the dice and trading in my mk7r for a brz ts, 6 months in so far I have no regrets.
I have a 98 integra coupe with 198k miles and she drives better than anything else I've driven
StrongsvilleGUY I do need new cv joints but it's all bone stock 5 speed
I have an 2009 Si sedan, very rock solid car. Currently I'm at 122k miles with not a single issue. If you're even considering buying one and find one in your area, don't sleep on it! They're becoming harder and harder to find and owners hardly ever want to part with them.
You don't feel vtec in the new cars because it's only on the exhaust valves like every other car with variable valve timing. There's no more true vtec (intake and exhaust valves).
i think i got one of the last ones :) 2012 it sure sound the same and it is fun to drive
Hey! I am in the market for one of these and how oddly coincidental that you have a review of one right now! :D
And yes!
