Wow! What a powerful ending! This movie was so pure and graceful. When Miyage arrived at the house in the white saree without borders, with her head shaved and a white bangle on each arm, I have to admit she had me raining tears. Also, you will notice in that scene that Sandhya switched back to wearing a white saree without borders as well. Just an incredible movie that was so harmonious & genuine. Well done to everyone connected to the film!

Such an AMAZING and TOUCHING movie. I watched it not knowing what to expect, but I was NOT disappointed. It made me smile, and it made me CRY. I had not realized that Miyage had shaved her hair in a display of her love and devotion to Snehamoy as I mistakenly thought her lack of hair was an after effect of the chemotherapy. It has been more than three hours since I finished the movie, but even reading the comments below have brought back tears to my eyes. A movie I will NOT SOON FORGET!

This is a really nice movie. The story line, writing, acting, scenery, costuming, all were very well done. What is nice about foreign movies is that we get a glimpse of what life and customs in other countries is like. The actress that played Miyage was breathtakingly beautiful, way prettier than say Marilyn Monroe. Sweet, quiet, gentle movie. Hollywood hasn't a clue how to make a movie such as this because the people in the movie industry are shallow, jaded and corrupt.

It's a true love, touching love but not sensible and practical love whom two human have never met in their life. Love is not just the matter for 2 of you, love is the bond that will continue and extend to your children and family folks. Since you can't realize it because of distance. So LET GO AND NOT BEHOLD. That's what the philosophical advice of Buddha the enlightened one and the scholars of philosophy would put it. So, the so called 'TRUE LOVE' of Snehomoy and Miyage is actually a wrong match by destiny AND in Buddhism 'FLOWERS IN THE MIRROR AND THE MOON IN THE WATER' that one will never grap it!So wake up and face the truth and reality said by the enlightened ones.

It’s creating a vacuum in young people’s hearts and hopefully when we come out of the pandemic, we will remember that we all desire the simplicity of connecting to another human being below the surface attributes.

Is this base on true to life story? I have lived in Japan for a long time and I can tell the wife situation is very real. If you go to any province in Japan that's how Japanese women live. They are very old fashion, honest and kind. They value family trait. Some of the old-fashioned women they just continue their family lifestyle alone until they get old and die. I am not familiar with the Indian culture but this is a very touching story and very realistic. Tumbs up for the writer.

@@litzadey1482 - There is several hints about the period : Miyage had sent him _an e-mail address_ in a letter ( 1:00:10 ) but the village is not "connected to the pipe". So it's probably around the mid of the 90s or at the beginning of 2000 when the e-mail system got popular. IMHO the director makes this story sounds timeless on purpose : The choice of a remote village and the discreet wardrobe give the movie a universal appeal.
The news relating to an event (? maybe an Indian person could help) & the ad on the TV screen, the Metro free newspaper (start @ 1:21:23 )
Long distance calls were so expensive. Thanks now we have several tools like Skype, FB... But one needs an internet connection and _a cabled place._ Internet cafés are popular in some countries : it's a pity we have lost them in Europe because it was an nice place to meet people of all ages and social classes, make direct connections...
Most of us valued frugality back to the post war period as you noticed.

Sad but really amazing the faithfulness of each one of them even though they did not see each other. Beautiful story.

This came on my recommendation and I decided to watch it and I think that I did the right thing. This film made me see the innocence and pure love between people and that caring for others still exists.

This was such a beautiful movie. Wish the subtitle was in some other color bcoz yellow was a bit difficult to read since it was hard to see in bright color but overall the movie was superb.

Frustrating to follow when you are relying on yellow coloured subtitles that can't be seen
