Just picked up the limited edition empyrean that comes with 2 upgraded cables for 2800$, truly a great deal, I absolutely agree that 3000$ for just the headphone is a-bit stretching. Love your reviews and I think you’re spot on on the empyrean with its superb enjoyable sound, quality soundstage, and imaging, I can put these on and just enjoy the music without analyzing every detail that comes out of the headphone. Keep up the good works!
I stumbled across your channel and must say other than Z Reviews no other headphone reviewer has actually made me laugh and appreciate the details and language at the same time. All other headphone channels are boring AF in comparison. You combine emotion with a blooming sense of technicality.

Taking into account all the fricking headphones that have passed through the channel like a drive-through whorehouse EMPY still has a special place in my heart I can’t wait to bring the elite in for review, keep an eye out, but you will not be disappointed in this force

One headphone that does it all - that was the common theme amongst reviews that led me to buy these. I'm comfortably off, but not to the level of having a collection of 4-figure headphones. Still waiting on delivery, so maybe watching reviews is a bad idea. It's funny to me that some reviewers like yourself swear by the Alcantara pads and say the leather ones suck, but I've come across almost as many that say the opposite. So there's definitely a difference there. and clearly one that appeals to different tastes. Also, while comparing these to the Susvara is a little unfair, there's about £2 - 3k difference in price, the fact that these don't get utterly pissed on from a great height can only be a positive thing IMO. Ultimately, what swung it for me was getting 10% off and 0% finance over 3 years, meaning that these cost less than some mobile phone contracts. I was quite tempted by the Warwick Audio Bravura, but, again, double the price. Maybe next year...
I think there were too many drawbacks with the leather, it really does not sound good But they corrected this mistake with elite, the best of both worlds

I have the Arya, Focal Clear and the Empyrean and I agree with you on Meze being the all rounder aspect. For example, there are some points when arya sounds meh, specially metals without any bass slam and thin vocals. I have just ordered LCD 4. Hopefully the bass on those are truly better than the already amazing meze. Also, excellent analysis on the horrible leather pads. They sound like some sort of gross filters are turned on. Wish meze offered both of their silver and copper cable & exclude the horrible pad. That would justify the 3000$ tag
Incidentally, I did and use the silverplated $500 cable, It just didn’t seem that important in the actual review itself but I love these headphones if it wasn’t for susvara I don’t think they would ever leave my desk, so sad letting them go
@@ConvinceMeAudio I have just received the silver cable of meze. Previously I bought the copper upgrade cable with my empyrean order. To be fair I had wow factor after using the 250$ copper cable with Alcantara pad by ditching the stock cable and horrible leather pad. Both subbass and mid bass improved further while making the mids smoother. Unfortunately, I am not being able to justify the silver cable's price. I also agree with each and every caveat of the leather pad. Btw the susvara is my dream HP too. But the amp requirement is simply too high for me. Hopefully, by next year, I will be able to get the susvara & some decent amp to drive it at its full potential and call an END to my headphone journey 😌

Sooo i am really late to the party but i am on the fence about these. I am looking for a high quality headphone for all kinds of genres, but mainly EDM type music and Soundtracks (the synthesized kind more than the classical kind) and i could pick these up for around 1800 used. I'm worried they might not punch hard enough (looking at LCD-2C/2/X otherwise), but as i cannot listen to them, i cannot say :) I love the design of them for sure. Thank you for the review, it was very enjoyable, even though i am over a year late to this :)
I think these are better for all around genres, and more comfortable, otherwise LCDX 2021 is fantastic for the genres you want What made a look on the used market find a used utopia 2021 That’s another fantastic option
Does the empyrean have any flipping issues at high levels ? Would it be similar to the lcdx? The x does not clip ever, and I tried so hard to get them to clip. The CLEAR MG unfortunately clip on certain low end type songs even at 75 to 80 for me.
@@ConvinceMeAudio thanks for clarifying. I'm just suffering from PTSD with the Focal clipping lol. It's really making me wonder if the other "flagship" headphones have that physical limitation like they do. I was starting to assume that the LCD series were the only phones that never clipped ever.

@@bryce74 go for the silver plated cable, empyrean is very warm and pure copper just makes them too warm.

Very good review. I bought the Empyrean and I am using the upgrade cable. I also much prefer the alcantara pads to leather ones.
I did not unfortunately shoot the cable, but I did get the $500 upgrade cable which was stunnning
