3rd generation Smith & Wesson are awesome guns, and are still a steal until people realize how good they really are.

The 5906 my first 9MM auto, it was a police trade in excellent condition paid @ $300 for it. Still have it and would never get rid of it.

Nice! Its a solid gun that will keep on shooting for a long time thats for sure. I sold mine to free up space and money, it was just not accurate enough in my hands for shooting competitions. Thanks for watching!

    That's a solid pistol. I like S&W. I have a S&W SD9VE myself.

Other than the original grips its pretty bomb proof! And for me it has been totally reliable, which I think it pretty good for a pistol from 1992. Thanks for watching!

Nice catch! They seem to be very reliable pistols, only thing you might want to get is a set of houge grips for it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Great pistol, I own one for a few years now but today I field stripped it and was putting the slide back on pushing down on the 3 little levers and somehow the slide locked solid I think because the long one on the right side popped up. So I had to take the grip off, hammer spring out, took the spring with attached pen out the left side that also pushes on the slide release and then took the hammer out and the 3 levers that need to be pushed down .... get the slide moving again and off the frame. Still do not know what made it lock. Put everything back in reverse order but somehow managed to forget which lever on the right side was closest to the hammer .... so had to google for a good closeup video of the frame. Hence that brought me here ;-) Now I am all up and running, thanks.
I did replace the plastic grip for a nice wooden one which came from Turkey, a weird place to get Smith & Wesson grips ....

Guns can lock up the strangest ways, and putting them back is not always that easy either. Still not sure If I have my ruger Mk3 put together right, so many small pieces... works fine tho hehe! Does your grip have a steel pin to hold the spring like the houge or does it rest on the grip like the original?

    • @mpspuij

@@ThePreparedNorseman I find the 5906 not that used friendly in field stripping, but then it was not intended to be a military gun but made for the US police. I find a Beretta F92 or Sig Sauer P226 much easier. I do not like the way the Glock needs to be field stripped. The new grip on the S%W 5906 is the same as the old black plastic grip. Replacing it by taking out that pin that holds the hammer spring. If you search on eBay for Smith & Wesson 5906 grip then the Turkish seller pops up. The stel pin goes the same way true the frame and grip as the plastic grip does. Old movie of my 5906, youtube blocked it because of it's music. th-cam.com/video/lEPVKvMCUcc/w-d-xo.html

Are the gloves to keep your finger oils off the Firearm? Nice example of the 5906 all stainless plus the bladed sight...

I guess gloves are more for keeping the firearm oil and other gunk off my fingers rather than my fingers off the firearm hehe! Thanks for watching!

@@ThePreparedNorseman my brother being very honest with you over here in America black people simply aren't treated the same and there have been people who have done videos on shooting and firearms and the police have come and raided them when people who don't look like me have done much more and nothing ever happens. So in truth it is safer for me to keep the majority of it out of the Forefront. Is truly is different over here in America with racism
