You should add water wheel plants.
There underwater plants that eat mosquitoes and are very sensitive to pollution.
You can use them to see if your fish are in fresh none polluted water and you'll have less mosquitoes too.
    There also beautiful plants too.

Hey Kev! Love the pond and the new coop! Just wanted to share some advice I was told once about picking up your chickies in case it helps you; it may help them feel more comfortable if you hold their feet when you pick them up. I don’t remember all of what I was told as I was very young, but I do remember being told that chickens don’t always like their feet not being on solid ground, so it helps to hold their feet. Just thought of sharing that with you! The girls do look beautiful and I can’t wait to see them all grown up!

I would love to see a series on plants/fish in the pond and maybe even try some sort of aquaponic system in the pond.
Edit: A plecostomus fish can control that algae. They are very cheap at pet stores.

Lovely new fish to be with the babies 🐠 the water in that pond looks so clear and refreshing, I can see myself with my feet in it. The chicks are getting so big and cute 🥰 what do you think of the name Galaxy for the white and black? More videos, please 🥹

Congratulations on your new baby koi! That's awesome! You gotta start naming the fishy. Haha. 🌟
an idea, you can add an outdoor security camera such as the "ring" camera (or whatever camera system you already have in place) to monitor your chicks while your away. Another set of security and peace of mind. 🐓💕

I live in San Diego also, so I advise to put a net over your pond. I've had oppsums, skunks, racoons and all sorts visit my yard. So best be careful of predators.

Nice pond. Now you need a few hundred Mosquito Fish to take care of the Mosquitos and gnats, etc... If you start with 9 females and one male you should have plenty in a month LOL.👍 If you have a dog make sure it puts its scent around the pond often to help keep the raccoons away.

  • @lukewilson3271

I think the chickens will love the new feeder, but I probably would have been tempted to leave the legs off for a week or 2 until they got use to it. Chickens are VERY curious so I'm sure they will find the feed any way.
full disclaimer: I raise quail not chickens so I'm use to shorter birds.

4:20 at this moment, having dysmorphia between "homesteading" in the traditional sense, versus the amount of $$$$ a lot of the things on this channel cost. $40k+ pond, contractor'd chicken coup $2-8K?, fancy feeder, etc etc. (i still love the channel. it's more of a.... idk homesteading for rich people? versus what you'd do out in the real world, the homesteaders in the days of yore, or those who bought a plot of land and are doing this with natural resources, very limited cash, etc.)
