There are 31 maps that can appear after the first map (the first has a lower pool). But not every map is equal, shrouded moor is slightly higher. To account for this, I changed the numbers to be roughly 1/29. The reason the first map doesn’t count in the probability is because I didn’t pick shrouded moor before I started. So any map I start on, the odds of getting it 4 additional times in a row is (1/29)^4

Quick question: Can you make an updated guide for the achievement "with friends like this". I struggling with this, because the grotesques don't one-shot the group (at least not with me), and I can find almost no help online that isn't more than 5 years old.....
Now this makes me wonder how many rare occurrences if any I might've experienced without even realizing as a player with far less knowledge of the game lmao
Any 5 specific floors have the same chance. It's only rare to notice a specific pattern

I did noticed 3 in a row once but I did not check further cuz I kill the rg right there but it got stuck in my head cuz never happened again
@@apet1572 yes but that's because you care about that pattern. Any specific 5 floors is equally as rare.
@@sandcastledx Of course but now calculate how many combinations of 5 maps sets there are and how many of those sets are 5 times in a row the same map and you getting one of those sets its what's special, come on dude.

is D3 endgame literally just that? i was thinking about getting into the game but never played past the demo so far.
@@monkeytown1239 There are a couple dozen different map types and end bosses so essentially once you get to end game rifting you are playing a random mix of randomly generated maps with random mob types on each floor and then a boss at the end. Some maps and mob types are a lot more desirable than others but yes you are grinding maps over and over for gear and to level your legendary gems.

@@monkeytown1239 Well the whole of engame begins after the campaign, there is quite a lot to do, especially if you are new. You select a build you like and you try to collect everything you need, then you start min maxing in different ways, you upgrade your gear and try to reach the highest you can on the leaderboard or do whatever you want. The end end game however is indeed just doing rifts and farming paragon levels while you look for stuff like this or some insane lucky clear whatever. People usually hate on diablo because of this, but other games have no batter loop at all, if you enjoy it you will play just to get a bit stronger or something, look at any competitve game, you basically do the same thing everytime.

When GRs where new, i had one that was in the sewers. It was one long hallway that NEVER ended. No turns, no allies, just straight to the left.
You walked 47 miles and only saw 3 enemies thinking maybe you cleared that floor already

I swear this could have happened to me multiple times without me giving it much thought. There were endless maps of the same area, seemed like the randomizer got stuck or something
stars align this season. I had something interesting going on couple of days ago too, just not GRs. I was doing bounties in groups. I've came across a rainbow goblin, cleared the rainbow level, carried on finishing bounties. As we were done, I've left, re-entered to open another public bounties. I came across another rainbow goblin. Finished rainbow floor, finished bounties. Entered another game, started doing bounties, another rainbow goblin. Same process. Started another session of bounties, another goblin. 5 Goblins withing 5 ''enters of a game'' for bounties, in row.. how? :D
To clarify. I usually get 1-2 rainbow goblins per season, so getting 5 in row was something unheard of for me :D
On this note... I've had back to back nephalem rifts (maybe 5 in a row) with goblin hordes. Some weird-ass shit has been happening this season haha. (T16 Seasonal Hardcore)

I thought this was a game mechanic before this video, i started playing again 2 months ago with a friend and it happened 2 times that we had the same map 4x in a row and more often 3x.
So we thought sometimes the game gives you the same map every layer so we didnt check 5th floor.
Interesting to know that this was extremely rare, we were just pissed off at it haha

In 1980 I rolled up 3d6 about 200 times, recording each set of 6 stats for potential D and D characters. When I used a set, I crossed it off the list. I had the sheet to show the DM to prove I had rolled it. Never got all 18s. My best was 1 18 and 2 17s in a set. I think I got a total of 3 18s out of 1200 rolls.
Old school gaming. (I rolled and recorded the numbers in my high school library. True story.) 😉
I never really got into D&D, but I did make a character once with some friends who were really big into it. I tried to play, but it just felt weird. True story, my first two stat rolls were 18. Back-to-back 18s. My buddies were freaking. Unfortunately, of the next four rolls, the highest one was 7. So I had two amazing rolls, and four terrible rolls.

@@Max_Griswald 18 18 is Strength 18 and Intelligence 18. The rest of the numbers make your character extremely weak though... ah well. As my brother often still says even today. “Roll the dice, take a breath...”. He thought there was way too much dive rolling in D and D.
@@redelfshotthefood8213 - The group I played with, you rolled for stats, but you could choose which set of dice you used for each stat, so I picked strength and constitution for my 18s, the 7 was dex. I had 6 charisma and 6 intelligence, and 4 wisdom.
My character was a half-orc, and the joke was that the other half was a rock. My character's mom was an orc, and "Old Baldy" (A granite mountaintop) was my character's dad. Obviously not true, but that's what the mom had told him, and he believed it.

Lowest odds thing I've had happen in a blizzard game was in Heroes of the storm, playing on random with only support disabled I got Varian 8 times in a row. We have to assume that the odds here aren't even for getting any given hero, because with 86 heroes in the pool that would make the odds on that 1 in 2,992,179,271,065,856 , though even with the odds not even it seems to be phenomenally rare.

Well, statistically speaking, any combination of any 5 maps have a 1/25^5 chance of occurring.
Getting the same map 5 times in a row with a pool of 25 maps.. pretty impressive odds
yeah, but they have no significance. It's like that with any kind of data set, you look for the ones that have significance, not just any random point. Any specific order of coin flip in 100 flips has the same chance of occurring as having it be head or tail 100 time in a row, but those 2 cases have significance and are noticeable, the rest doesn't.

This makes me wonder if the generator is broken or doing some weird things. People have been mentioning specifically the rolls on affixes for elites seem to be off. Getting waller/reflection way more than usual, and I myself have count like 11/13 elites in one rift with waller. Other people saying other random things with crafting and rifts. I don’t usually pay attention to that but when so many people say the same thing you have to wonder. Either way it’s still cool. Good to see lightning impale getting some love, it’s a fun variant and works well for speed.
Raxx wasnt even this excited when he got Cosmic Wings from the gifts last season.

I'm about to start a DH but I'm still upgrading the gem of ease for a quicker start. I already have 3 sets of Bastions of Will, just missing the shoulder and wrist set along with squirts necklace according to maxroll.
Sometimes Diablo 3 surprise with that kinda things. Last night i run GR 105 to test my necromancer build and Ramalandi's Gift dropped three rifts in a row.

Yesterday on a rift i got a map like sewers, that just kep going forward. strainght, no curves, forward path. The lenght, maybe 1/3 of a rift bar. A LOT of single tunnel. Had to scroll mini map twice to go from 1 side to the other.

Had three desolate sands back to back this morning, didn't check for a fourth.
I always get plague tunnels. Its a common occurance, if i have plague tunnels on my first floor, the next 3 floors will be plague tunnels. Same as the graveyards, if floor one is a graveyard so will the next 2 be. I always assumed this was a mechanic.

I play alot, but never seen anyone get three goblin group spawns in a row till I did. Three of those big groups of rewarding goblins back to back seems more rare then just the level type.

For 1 rift map, the same texture and structure repeated for 6 screens. It was funny seeing it on the map
Watching this reminded me, of how shitty a turn the franchise took. I just want real RPG experience, nail-to-nail isometric battle with a big demon, tactics, spells dodged and thrown, nervous potting to see if I can get him and then being in wonder about that Duriels carapace, and knowing it matters and it wasn't all for nothing. Man, my strafe build is so dang slow compared to this one. Btw, I've faced a few goblin shrines this season. I've never seen those before. I also had a rift with 9 or 10 levels this season and I've never seen that one yet.
Just have fun and don’t compare your build and speed with guys like this. He plays for a living. Try to emulate builds and strategies, but do the best you can. Impale is strong, and you should be able to do 100+ quickly even with a base build and guardians set. He was using lightning here, which will ricochet and kill trash easier while running by, which also helps.

I'm having quite a lot of fun this season. I'm paragon 900+ on Switch and 600+ on Xbox. This is a fantastic season. Quite a lot of fun, indeed.

Before this season, I had only got ~9 primals ever in seasonal. I'm a casual gamer 6-10hrs a week is all I get to do. Now this season, I've gotten 5 primals when upgrading rares and all of them go with my build... fishy.. lol
next video you should go for 12 ancient primal drops from a GR
This is probably not as rare as that math claims it to be just because computer's can't actually ever produce true random. There is a major problem with trending results. Its why you see a lot of the same item drops sometimes in a relatively short period. This would still be pretty rare though.

Once I've spawned 4 pylons at the range of one screen map without any shenanigans, just playing the rift normally. I'll post it later on, when I'm back home, guess that the odds of that are similar or even lower that what you did there.
