- 👻 ▼ Full high-quality production remake/cover of Haunted House (Big Boo’s Haunt) from Super Mario 64! This Halloween season, I’ve decided to tackle one of the creepiest tracks in a Super Mario game…Haunted House! ▼ 👻
Despite the simplicity of this song, this one was challenging to remake. At first, I made a version with me singing the choir part and pitching it down an octave…creepy, but not the recognizable synth choir tone of the original track. So, in the end I decided to just create a synth that sounded like a more ‘updated’ version of the one used in the original!

as a kid playing sm64 i wasn't really scared of the piano honestly. i didn't go near it because i didn't want to get killed but the thing that scared me the most in sm64 was the boo in the hallway leading out to the courtyard. i was always so scared of going down that hallway because of that boo

You wake in this castle, a mario toy drops. A star touches it and bring him to life. both you and him run from the boo haunting the castle for dear life,wall kicking and back flipping over cliffs and dodging shots from the eye balls. You and mario grab the star and make it out safely, the star animating him fades and you wake up like it was all a dream

@@JonathanGilmer Many people are working with midi files or scores. There's not a decent score for that track and the mid is quite ugly so it requires some good skills to render it
@@Duhemsounds that's very true! I looked for a score myself to save some time haha. But when I couldn't find one I had to do it by ear. This song isn't easy though, because the marimba parts are pretty much aleatoric (controlled randomness).

@@JonathanGilmer well it is fantastic for a nice horror ambiance, so I thought around 30min to 1h. I've been listening to the song on repeat for a while already but I keep hearing the mario 64 level entry before the song replay and that's why I was wondering
@@JonathanGilmer the level entry is a great touch but when you listen to the song on repeat, every auto-replay I realised the song replayed. I stopped counting after at least 10 replays but I kept listening because I think you got the best remix of this soundtrack on the platform in my opinion
