Vegan leather, all day everyday. BTW the Hermes mushroom bag still has leather components on it, so it's not vegan.

I'm vegan and I'm also interested in designer fashion, which mostly means Stella Mccartney, but there's been quite a lot of new things coming out- Desserto cactus leather, Stella Mccartney recently released Mylo leather- made from mushrooms in her most recent release. But I think it's a misconception that "real" is better than fake in terms of sustainability, especially when it comes to how much the leather industry in India is harming the people who work there, and even the tanneries in Italy face quite a lot of the same diseases. There's a new documentary on Waterbear for free called "Slay" which goes into depth about the use of animals in fashion if you're interested in watching.

You don’t seem to be at all concerned about how cows, crocodiles, alligators etc. are just treated as commodities, for humans to use as we wish. And I sense no concern about the inhumane and violent ways we treat them both while alive and while being slaughtered. You show some respect imho for the planet but not for the creatures that live on it. I’m glad you tried to be evenhanded in your arguments, but empathy imho was missing.

Real leather smells disgusting after a while… like an old unwashed biker. Faux leather nowadays is fine, it does the job and is often more durable

yes, that's true, faux or vegan leather doesn't last as long. However, while you're pointing out all these items that last for decades, do you really think that that is what is most important to consumers nowadays? I think that's probably the least important. Most people want more now, and who cares about 50 years from now. But it doesn't matter. Let's talk environmentalism-how about stats with regard it being bad for the environment? Do you know how horrendously detrimental animal agriculture is to the environment? I'll tell you-it's the NUMBER 1 worst polluter of our environment. Your argument is essentially a bunch of opinions, short on any true scientific data, and TOTALLY forgetting the fact that billions of animals are being tortured and killed. I'm in disbelief that you could use a clip of a living thing on fire and then go on and on to talk about how much better the skin of an animal is compared to vegan leather. Do you have any idea how many harmful products you actually purchase and use in a day? If you're really concerned about the environment, I ask that you think of it in a bit bigger way and PLEASE rethink your advocacy of leather over non-leather alternatives.
