    If there's one thing I love doing on any 5150 model, it's pushing those resonance and presence knobs higher! They compensate for each other, so generally if one gets boosted the other one does too. With my cab (Orange PPC412) they sound amazing when they're both pushed to 8. It really opens the amp up, clears away the honk, and gives the palm mutes this beautiful blooming "chug". It actually opens up the mids a lot too, it effects the whole tone stack, not just the extreme lows and highs. Great work as usual dude!

      Shit I'm glad I got the combo then because the combo sound heavenly no matter what as long as you don't max the gain it is awesomely awesome.

      @@jessicawalden6072 Yeah I mean it's horses for courses, this is one of those amps that's impossible to dial in a bad sound on. Throw it down a flight of stairs and plug it in and you've pretty much got the best rock and metal tones available for under a grand (or over, for that matter!)

      5150 paired with a PPC 412 is such an underrated combo! I prefer that to any cab!

      I find this works well too, I do the exact same. 5150 II into my mesa 2x12 boost the resonance and presence controls to both 8 and it widens the sound even more with and crank the bass and treble to about 7 and leave the mids on about 5 and it's such a sweet juicy tone you get out of it. Not necessary to push more mids in an amp that's already mid range present, and with cabs voicing as well it's complete overkill. But I find this to be a good rounded rhythm tone.

    No matter what amp I play through I always come back to the 5150/6505+ 🔥🔥🔥

  • @MetalKillsRap2

    The II doesn’t need a boost. It sounds best on its own.

    • @samwilcockmusic
      @samwilcockmusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree, James Brown designed the lead channel to have less bass in the preamp and more upper mids as per Eddie’s requests which is kinda what boosting an amp with a TS9 will do anyway. Love the II, such a well voiced amp. Leon does it great justice too.

    Great Video Man!! I have a question, What kind of pickup do you use in this Video?, I recently bought a Gibson Les Paul 2017 Standard, my first Pro Guitar!!! but I got the feeling that the burstbucker pro pickups are not good enough for Metal or heavy, what you recommencement me? I don't want to modify a Gibson LP Standard because I spend a lot of money for her but maybe I need it.

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LUIS MANUEL MATOS these are stock PRS 245 pickups. Before you change pickups, experiment with overdrives, boosts and EQ. Personally I prefer a lower output pickup (like a Burstbucker) and to shape the tone on the amp and pedal. Changing pickup height can help a lot too, so experiment with that too.
