    I want to congratulate Peach for actually comprehending and demonstrating this product properly. I too really dislike dry in your face direct guitar signals and the natural room ambiences and space along with imperfect amp speakers is what makes the perfect tone for recording situations. Loved this!

    For what this costs, there's a lot of things that disappoint:
    - No XLR out for running direct to a mixing board.
    - No headphones out. It would make total sense to have one on this thing.
    - No remote control of any kind. Most will probably default to that A/B + Delay mode because it's the most sensible one.
    - No 3rd party IR support for convenience. Even if it has a lot of cabs, it has e.g quite few options for higher gain players.
    - No EVM 12L option either even though there's one on the Dream afaik.
    - Heavy reliance on the mobile app for the effects. You can't seem to e.g tap a tempo in for the delay so you better have each rig setup perfectly beforehand.
    UA, why do you make good sounding gear yet adamantly refuse to add features that could take them to the top?

    I started with the Golden and Starlight....then I got the Dream 65....not sure if Ruby or Ox Stomp or the Max is next.....damn these pedals are addictive! Sold my Kemper to finance this new adventure and no regrets.....back to turning knobs, love it.

    • @LochNessAnthony
      @LochNessAnthony ปีที่แล้ว

      Golden is good. I don't personally enjoy the starlight. Skip the max, its just the plug with no presets. Preorder the Ox Stomp (or better yet wait for prices to come down by $100's within a year) for now instead of the Ruby. Honestly with the Spring in the Dream and the Plate in the OX you may not even need the golden anymore depending on how you use it. The Ruby is very good but its not gonna be much different or helpful if you already have the Dream.

    • @evanward4303
      @evanward4303 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm an old school amp guy, and I love the Ruby and Starlight for practice and recording.
      Ruby does drive sounds way better than Dream imo. Use the Blue or Silver speakers, volume at 10, cut at 0, crank the treble booster, and you're in Brian May territory. Set the other channel as a pedal platform with Green speakers. That's a lot of tonal options right there.
      I'm thinking about getting the Lion, but I'm not convinced that they've reproduced the low end thump for chords and riffing that I'm listening for. I can't tell if it's the demonstrators or the pedal itself. Might have to hear that one in person.
      That said, I saw a guy play the Dream through an Ox Stomp, and I was very impressed. Dream's onboard speakers sounded good, but Ox Stomp took it up a notch or two. Not sure if I need an Ox Stomp, but I think I want one.

    as much as I`d love a product to tick every box, this product is genius from a marketing stand point. UA doesn´t want it to do everything... UA wants it to be a phenomenal add on to almost every other product under the sun. perfect pairing. or at least, almost perfect pairing. if you don´t use it together with a UAD product, fine, use it with something else. it will always be a win win situation for Universal Audio. Brilliant!!!!!

  • @markclayton4250

    I think this is awesome. It is for players who do not want a bunch of amps and mics and play direct from their board. They do not need an attenuator, and they do not need an XLR out. At the end of the chain you put your JDI XLR or whatever. This is something you can put on your board and have realistic studio sounds coming from your pedalboard line signal, mono, dual, mono, or stereo. I think it is great. I wanted an Ox but did not want a bunch of amps… and wanted the dynamix UA (non-IR technology). Already have Dream and Ruby which have this Ox technology in it. But for a direct in, pedalboard only scenario, this is something for the toolbox. This is for people who are not satisfied with IRs and want studio realism. If IRs make someone happy, great. But if someone wants a more realistic studio experience without amps, this is way more than a cab simulator pedal or IR offering. The Ox technology offers realistic super loud dynamics at TV volume. This is for people who want more than an IR tone - they want the full realistic dynamics of playing in a studio with real mics etc. I think this is great, and I do not think that this compares equally to IRs. UA is in a class by itself with this dynamic response technology. I absolutely love all of it. It gives me the opportunity to study configurations which behave more realistically than IRs (which are merely a snapshot of a sound) which I simply otherwise would not have access too. Big UA fan here. Just because a shoe doesn’t fit a specific use case does not diminish what it is. There is simply only one company with Ox technology… and you get it in the old Ox, this, Ruby, Dream, and Woodrow. If you have one of the latter three you probably might not need this in the chain as it would be redundant. But I need one anyway. I will make a board for it lol!

    • @LochNessAnthony
      @LochNessAnthony ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it’s also in the 55’ Fender which is the plug of the Woodrow afaik

    • @davedraws76
      @davedraws76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No dude. The ruby, Dream and Woodrow don’t cover all the cabs in this thing. This is like and expansion pack for the ruby, Dream and Woodrow.

    • @markclayton4250
      @markclayton4250 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am still learning this gear and so I was under the impression that since Ox technology is already in the Ruby, Dream, and Woodrow that an Ox pedal would possibly be redundant of you are using those pedals for their sounds. So maybe I do not understand how the Ox expands on these pedals. I figured that the Ox would be something for either a clean or dirty pedal or preamp pedal to go into. But hey, I qualified my level of knowledge (And you can throw a bunch of pedals at me with a board and a power supply and I can put together and dial it in - but sometimes I cannot explain in technical depth other than pedal order how I make it sound good).
      So I am going to look into this. If it is true that the Ox will add versatility as opposed to redundancy to the Ruby and Dream (and Woodrow which I do not have), then I want one. I the kind of person who can make it happen with the right parts. So I like what you are saying. I hope that I can see it fit together in my mind and ultimately hear it. At the end of the day it is still one signal at a time coming out the end. I am getting ready to solder, so I am going to figure this out first. Anything you or anyone wants to say about this is appreciated. I am going to keep reading and watching demos and am going to buy one of these, maybe two ultimately.

    • @markclayton4250
      @markclayton4250 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to find out in a way that I can understand how the Ox technology in the big three pedals are not redundant with the Ox. That I fail to understand.

    • @markclayton4250
      @markclayton4250 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think what I am trying to say is that I can see how Ox pedal could expand the tonal pallete for the other three pedals but not necessarily improve what is already there if you are happy with that tone. (except it adds effects and 1176 compression and maybe some more stuff - but I am talking about the Amp/Cab sound you get out of the Main three pedals wo the Ox). Anyways, looking forward to getting one.

    Man I just got the ox stomp and IRX Friedman pedal .. bloody hell I may ditch my real amps for playing live. The OX stomp is a beast! UAD I love it but please make a desktop application for this please. Include usb c output for connectivity stability. Bluetooth is a great idea however it’s a big buggy. On my iPhone it if step away and my phone goes on standby, i have to reconnect the application and sync the pedal. Not a big deal if you save your favorite RIGS in advance. This makes a perfect studio peice and the Friedman IRX … we’ll no need to express that since it shares a similar sound as that power head being used in this video
