Beautiful Modern Home Built with 4 x 40ft Used Shipping Containers - FULL TOUR

- Tour of a 1,280 square foot modern prefab shipping container cottage built with 4 x 40-foot used shipping containers. Built all on one level, this modular bungalow has an open-concept kitchen, living room, and dining area, as well as three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the hallway, there's a large mechanical room and a laundry room as well.

The home was installed on a helical pile foundation, it has a Posi-Slope roof with an EPDM membrane on top, and 3 styles of exterior siding to add character and dimension to the look of the home - metal, vinyl, and Maibec. There are also two great decks, one at the front and a covered one at the back to optimize time outdoors.
To prevent condensation from forming on the metal walls, they are insulated both on the interior and on the exterior. The home is heated with two electric mini-split units as well as baseboards and an electric fireplace.

How many years could this last for ?
Be very careful where these shipping containers have been and more importantly WHAT they carried . Did they have anything dangerous to human health like radioactive or chemical toxins? I rather by new than used shipping containers for peace of mind . Please don't get me wrong I am 100% all in favor of shipping containers made into homes . Nice work please show videos of how you assembled and insulated it . Best wishes from Canada 🇨🇦

Cramped? It is two containers width wise. If it was just one I would agree with you,@@goury but that is not the case. They ended up with a huge open area there that does not provide extra seatings or storage.

@J R ummm... this costs as much per square. and isn't saving shyt.. trading trees for pollution .. containers aren't leftover.. every container used in non transport just means it got replaced by a new one and the one you built a hippy cabin with isn't getting recycled into the steel cycle so raw materials are needed... nothing is free and nothing is zero anything environmentally.
Also you can use engineered wood materials.
@@OntarioBearHunter shipping containers do have a life span and get replaced regardless... There is a shift - at least in the United States - to having smaller homes. Instagram and You Tube showcase many individuals and families that want tiny homes that also utilize solar power. As for cost per square foot I'm not sure you are correct.

Wow. I LOVE THIS. I would live in place like this. One level, seems like pretty good storage. Love the master bath. Love how spacious it is.
Beautiful home, loved the fact that this company knows and addresses all the problems a container home could have.
They didn't address even a fraction of those problems.
Just because they aren't saying there are problems, doesn't make em nonexistent.
There are better, faster and cheaper technologies for building amazing houses, but americans tend to buy whatever crap salesmen advertise.
I love the idea of adding the picture lights, and I could really visualize putting beautiful pieces of colored glass on the shelf in the hallway.
This is one of the best storage cont. layouts that I’ve seen.

Sorry, but if the cost is on par with conventional builds, I would take a conventional build any day. The whole point of container homes is that they should be a great deal cheaper.
They aren't.
Even if the construction is cheaper, maintenance isn't.

Since I have worked on semi trucks since 1985, a container house would be an appropriate retirement home for me. The outside could have all my favorite logos, Peterbitl, Kenworth, Freightliner etc, displayed on it.

Stunning gorgeous tiny house that would suit alot of families. That's the style we'd love to have for ourselves as we have 2 dogs and 3 house cat's and there's plenty room if our daughter come's for few night's or when we watch and our granddaughter has sleep over's

Thanks, this looks great! I have a question about the insulation. You mentioned that it is both on the interior and exterior of the steel, but I see some exterior steel walls. Could you explain a little more about how this works?
They use decorative siding that looks like corrugated steel, it's been said somewhere near the end

Loved everything about the build, only thing i would add is solar panels on the roof and battery backup for when the power gets shutdown due to weather or other reasons. Wonder if that would be possible with this build or would they have to add a small container for that as well.
There might be an economic turmoil but there is no doubt that this is still the best time to invest.
Best time to invest? that's funny though because in the last four months I have lost more than $47,900 in stock market which is the biggest I have loss since I ventured into stock investment.
you could be right or wrong . i once had similar problem but now its a different ball game for me because I was lucky to have met FLORENCE YAGODA , a financial manager and stock expert, I have made more than $165,000 in 6 weeks under her supervisions

Gorgeous home and design! I would change a few items though. I would want a big claw foot tub in the master bathroom, with a smaller shower. In the living area, I would want a wood stove to help with heating, possibly instead of base board heating. As well, I like the idea of an island in the kitchen. Fir the outside, an idea came to me to add on slightly off set, and connected via a covered walkway and deck, another smaller unit to use as an office, or as a art studio!

SO MANY grumpy comments here! It's info to take or leave, which may inspire your own alternative living. Even if you find it expensive or big, it is easier to place in a remote location than it often is to find a quality, affordable contractor to build out in the woods or mountains.

The best use for shipping containers, is to be shipping containers (or melted down and reformed into new shipping containers). Consider that if you build your house out of steel, it requires iron ore pulled out of a strip-mine (google it, it's horrifying), then smelted to steel (steel is estimated to be 11% of annual greenhouse gas emissions). It is better to use wood that can be sustainably sourced.
