It was really a dumb counter offer against cuban. He literally just made same offer as cuban just 5 grand more. In reality, 5 grand is nothing for those sharks. In a partnership like this it is redundant for that type of money to have a meaning, because the action of injecting the company with money separate from the initial offer is to be expected.
