  • In this video we are finding buried treasure at the Gibson Road Occurrence in Tory Hill, Ontario. Most especially it is titanite and apatite in the corroded calcite seams for which the area is so famous.

    Fabulous finds. I wish you'd shown some "after" video of cleaning them and showing the finished product. :-(

    How do you clean them? I hounded a bunch of fluorite/calcite in wilberforce.

    Damn I wish I had your skill at identifying where good holes will be. I can't even practice on the mine dumps up here in copper country.

      You'd be surprised at how many failures I have. The video shows the highlights. I usually dig in several spots before I settle down to one specific spot.

      I wouldnt be surprised at all, given how many failures ive had.

    Great stuff! Amazing finds with the monster Apatites you pulled out of there, impressive. Too bad we missed you, we were there a few weeks ago. I would really like to see some titanite other than a deep brown come out of the ground though.

    Beautiful pieces! Even fractured, I can appreciate their clarity and colour. Hard work, but it pays off! Thank you for sharing with us.

    Now that was some good Rock hounding! I was there on Thanksgiving day. I didnt manage to find any Titanite that day either. You found some amazing Apatite, nice job!

    Nice finds. I think this will have to be my next spot to mine. I have a couple question though. I assume you are parked right on Gibson road, but was wondering where abouts and what direction off the road you took. In the previous Gibson occurrence video you mentioned it being right next to the Miller property which is off limits. I want to mine up there, but I don't want to be trespassing where I shouldn't be. Also, to mine here do you need to head into Bancroft first to pay for the mining pass or somewhere else? Thanks.

      No fee, its quite obvious when you reach the rockhound area, Gibson is on the right, Miller is on the left

    Fantastic video. The apatite crystal at 8:20 has got to be the diameter of a coke can!

    • @Caver461
      @Caver461  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - it's pretty large. Sadly the bigger specimens are usually quite fractured and of poor color.
