Deborah Cox sings the Christmas classic "O Holy Night" with piano and saxophone at Patti Labelle's house, and is later joined by Patti herself. From December 2008.
This version is one of the few versions that actually made me feel something. Deborah's voice; the TONE, wow, off the chain!! This is straight up, no BS, SINGING. I wish there would be more performances like these on TV, like y'all know back in the day when people like Whitney, Mariah, Patti in the 80s/90s would just sing a christmas song just for the fun of it, and not for promotion or anything? Just with ONE piano, and ONE microphone, and nothing else on stage? Bring those days back!!
My favorite version of this song! This version makes me cry especially at the saxophone break. I feel like my late grandfather is talking to me! And Deborah's singing beautiful!
Debbie does singing. I remember watching this on tv and was blown away and now I can rewatch whenever I want. LOL with Ms. Pattie "If I wasn't horse, I whoooooooooo".
OMG my favorite Christmas song, love them both... But when Miss Patti hits that note, I FEEL IT THROUGH MY SOUL, EVERY TIME, EVERY YEAR SINCE IT AIRED ❤️
Love these beautiful ladies and their angelic voices God bless everyone and anyone that is reading this. No matter what your going through he’s always there your loved and worthy and deserve to be happy please hold on keep the faith and hope ok. Don’t give up x Merry Christmas xx
Let me first start by saying Thank You for the posting. Its an amazing performance thata should be seen!!! I cried like a baby fresh out the womb. Deborah Cox.....DAMN! I had no idea she had it like that. Next, Miss Patti is not a competer. Deborah took her there, and she had to release the music flowing inside. Anyone that sings knows what its like to hear someone sing, and can't restrain themselves. Thank You again for the Posting. Much Love!!!
She sounds a lot better than the ones who are out today! She is SO underrated! And you're right about the pregnant part. For her to be singing like that AND she's pregnant? I would think it takes a lot of strength for that! You have to respect that! I DO! I saw this on TV One and I loved every minute of it!
so glad people have been blessed by hearing this! i saw this on TVone when it first aired and it seemed none of my friends knew what the heck I was talkin' about. Thanks, TH-cam!
Work Miss Patti and Miss Deborah. Patti is a mess. I liked their duet immensely, but Deborah's solo was awe inspiring. She just let the emotion pour out of her. Ki ki@ Patti's "You better sing, girl."
She sounds like Whitney during the Waiting To Exhale Era and The Preachers Wife Era cause that’s when Whitney’s tone got deeper and during the early years like the bodyguard era Whitney’s voice was more feminine then as the years went by her voice started to get that masculine tone which Deborah has
I totally agree. Why many artists like this Lady, are underrated??? When we see on tv and in comercials, talentless people being in front of the medias... it seems unfair!!! Deborah Cox is wonderful! she is truly blessed and when I hear her singing, I can say that definitely, some were born to sing and sing Gospel... MUCH LOVE! and Deborah! Keep singing! we love you!!!!
+Sylvester Graham;Heather Headley does a SOUL-stirring rendition of this on Sounds of the Season Christmas compilation!! But I thought Deborah edged-her out with this rendition here!! I would pay TOP dollar for a Heather Headley/Deborah Cox duet single!!
I saw her once in a festival she sung Nobody's Supposed To Be Here and she FUCKED IT UP and I was like who is that thinking it was a cover or something and it was her the entire time! WHEWWW
I think this is the Most Beautiful song and Deborah Cox made this song 1,000 more Beautiful!!!! The SAX player is just icing on the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most important comment is she is & or * months pregant and can sing like noboby i've ever heard.
that was beautiful... i love the way deborah sang oh holy night...she has that raw talent that very few artist these days have...if you really want to know an artist's vocal ability? have them sing with just a piano and or just a sax!
im such a fan of hers, and her voice has maintained itself so well. its so rich and powerful like whitney. I know people compare them all the time but I think she is in her own class.
Her ad libs are so like Whitney, and her melisma style is also very Whitney-ish too. Nothing bad about that though. She is good! I love how Patti had to cut in at the end just to prove she can hit the highest note though, so funny!
She reminds me of young Whitney(88-92) so much. I need her to come out with something. It could be gospel, r&b or punk rock...idc...I would buy it...lol
Oh but Deborah's hoarse, rugged tone makes the song that much more passionate and authentic. She is severely underrated. She will always be. One of the few singers that can give you a little Whitney and do so effortlessly. I love me some Debbie child!!!
She wasnt hoarse at all. Deborah Cox's voice has a rare sound where she has the ability to fade her voice in and out giving it a "raspy or hoarse" sound. Also, not having a full band and just the accompaniment of just a piano and sax, makes a difference as well. Vocally, the technique is different when singing with a full band. :-)
It cracks me up how Patti was like "If I Wasn't Horse" and then continues to slay! Love me some Patti!
Chris Walker I agree
Yes

I watch this video every year. Deborah Cox is one of my favorite singers :)
My favorite version of this song! This version makes me cry especially at the saxophone break. I feel like my late grandfather is talking to me! And Deborah's singing beautiful!
Remember when ths aired. Deb will ALWAYS be one of the greatest vocalists out here!
Yasss Deborah I feel them Whitney vibes soooo much !!!!
Brotha on the saxophone got me feeling it. Never miss this video, every Christmas a true classic.

Super rich tone of deborah, reminds me so much of whitney...and patti...always amazing...these 2 are powerhouse vocalist.
This woman can sing....Wow, Amen.....Love the sax guy, another massive talent and wow factor..................

Deborah Cox sang this song with so much raw emotion! Patti was right, no one has done it the way she did.
Deborah has me in tears at works and the saxaphone just makes behind makes it so much special!!!...Powerful performance
Debbie does singing. I remember watching this on tv and was blown away and now I can rewatch whenever I want.
LOL with Ms. Pattie "If I wasn't horse, I whoooooooooo".
I missed it that night and watched the next day....🤯🤯🤯🤯😭😭😭😭 That first ”divine” was crispy like the next one (Patti joined in on)🥰🥰

+K J well it sounds like Whitney to me

OMG my favorite Christmas song, love them both... But when Miss Patti hits that note, I FEEL IT THROUGH MY SOUL, EVERY TIME, EVERY YEAR SINCE IT AIRED ❤️
Patti was in the same key as the sax! I've never been a patti fan but her range is sick.

That was WOW!!!! Patti has so much soul, no matter who sings she feels it.
the best rendition ever! love deb voice!
She sounds like Whitney during the Waiting To Exhale Era and The Preachers Wife Era cause that’s when Whitney’s tone got deeper and during the early years like the bodyguard era Whitney’s voice was more feminine then as the years went by her voice started to get that masculine tone which Deborah has
I remember this. Deborah Cox was horse but she was still fantastic to me. A true singer.
I totally agree. Why many artists like this Lady, are underrated??? When we see on tv and in comercials, talentless people being in front of the medias... it seems unfair!!!
