I have 6 cats that are living in my backyard for 3 years now. The mother cat had 5 kittens, 4 girls & 1 boy. We borrowed live traps from a non profit cat organization. We trapped them and brought them all to are county animal shelter. They spayed and neutered them, gave them a rabies shot and tipped their ear. I my husband made 3 wooden houses for them, which we have heating pads in the winter. They are able to be petted and one comes in our house some nights. They make beautiful pets.Thanks for giving them a home Janey.❤

Are you guys going to move or raise your hummingbird feeder now that you have 3 little killers? I had a cat for 15 years that was a super hunter and he used to stalk my bird feeders.. I was leading poor defenseless birds to a killing field so I had to not have any birds for years until he passed.
Why don't you start with the higher zones since they are further along. The zone 3s are probably just starting to go.

Loved the Show Me Your Gardens last time! Just a suggestion… start with warmer zones first. Those of us with gardens in the north and shorter growing seasons need a little more time, while those in warmer zones have fully in bloom gardens already.

You need the owls! Without them, you will always have a rat infestation. They keep the population down, so please lose Lance and other props to deter owls. YOU NEED THEM.

You need an owl box. They will catch rats and gophers at night. Works great.
I just wanted to mention that zone Three gardens aren’t at their peak yet and so if you reversed order your submissions it might be better. I have a relatively new Zone Three garden and would be totally embarrassed to show you my progress compared to your progress even though I started one year before you did. We have long days but a much shorter season than those of you in higher zones. I can almost see my edible pea pod plants growing each day right now . Our trees are so happy as we’ve had a much cooler spring and more rain. I get such pleasure out of watching your channel even though we’re at almost opposite ends of the zones. Every morning like many of your viewers I watch you, Jamie and Laura. Luckily I’m retired or who knows how early I’d have to get up.😂

Hi Janey , your mother totally inspired me to start my own journal. I treated myself to the “RHS gardeners five-year record book”. It has sections suited to how I want to organize my notes ! Zone 10a. I now keep a journal because of your mom. It helps me identify plants that looks the same in our "winter" since everything looks green. She is brlliant!

Hi Janey, Your lucky to get two cute barn cats. I think that they would like more soft surfaces in their cage. A blanket and pillow would make them feel more secure. If you and Robby tour nurseries during Cultivate please say hi to Lindsay and John at Benkens nursery. Benken’s is a small family run business. Lindsay is the owner and her brother John is the grower. Lindsay’s daughters Olivia and Rachel work there as well. Olivia is on the floral design team. You won’t meet a nicer group of people. The nursery is located in a residential area. They supplement they’re plant business with special events. Weddings on site, yoga classes, craft booths… It would be great to have you come and talk about your garden!

Phew. I was so upset that I had upset her. I love her book idea. And now have a fair few of my own. I know she doesn’t like showing it. But I would love to see how she writes it all down. What sections etc. how often she refers to it. I feel there is a need for this 😂

I keep a journal too...sort of. There are basically notes all over. My plan was too draw the plant and create small info about it. I too would like to know what she writes.
I Wish I would keep a journal but I know I would be terrible at it. Kudos with anyone that does it. I would give anything to now have something like that from my mom. It would be priceless.

I would love more information on growing ranuculas. I have tried several times. They sprout, get about 4 inches tall and then die. Zone 7b. Could it be too hot for them? Also, I've recently gotten obsessed with calla lillies. More info on growing them please.

My Great Aunt kept a garden book/journal. It was stuffed full of notes, pictures, sketches and information on growing tips and what worked and what didn’t, etc. I should ask my Mom if it’s still around-my Great Aunt passed a few years ago but is still very much alive in our shared passion of gardening. 🌱

Since we built and moved into our house in 1996, I keep a 'sort' of a journal with maps of the yard and plantings, etc. And it's all in/with my Sunset Western Garden Book, that I even use for reference here in France😊.

Please profile heliotrope. I found 2 this year and I am smitten. I found baby blue but I want more types. We have had 12 days of triple digit temps, no rain for weeks. They are still beautiful and fresh looking.

Yes, I love the plant profiles. I never thought I would enjoy Elephant Ears in my garden. My neighbor gave me a bulb. It took a long time to finally sprout. Every day a new leaf! So fun to see the progress.
Straw is really good for barn cats too. It helps insulate from both cold and heat. I have a couple of ferals I feed and 2 houses with straw.

Maybe you should consider doing the garden zones backwards, starting with the higher zones ? The reason being is that zones in the lower climate zones haven’t had as 4:54 much time to develop coming out of winter and it may give the lower zones a couple of more weeks to develop? Just a thought ? 💐💚🙃
Janey, love you, but maybe ask for zone submissions in the opposite order? As a zone 4 gardener, I know very well that what's looking beautiful in your zone 9b for example, or coming to its end, will be just beginning it's flourish in my zone. Ie, my foxgloves are just now pushing their blooms. Our last frost was merely weeks ago, meanwhile southern zones are pulling spent blooms. The only spent blooms here so far, for example, are the hellebores.

I have several plants coming in early next week so I will get my video in by mid week. My garden is so far from finished but honestly are we ever finished with our garden. I started my gardening in the fall of last year and have added a lot this year. I can’t wait to see everyone’s garden.
I suggest you do garden tours starting zone 10 first to give the lower zones more chance to grow

I saw one on line; it was so cost prohibitive if it got shipped to my place in 🇨🇦😢. One vendor mentioned a nursery that ordered bulk but it would take me hours to drive there. I’m crossing my fingers that if there is enough demand another nursery nearby will have it.

I have a question. I bought the hoselink retractable hose. If we mount it front the front of post, can I position it to stay left or right side of post or does it swing back to front of post. We put post next to walkway and I don't want to mount on front side if it will swing to rest in that position only. Thanks for you answer in advance.
Hi Judy! If you mount the reel to a post, it will swing 180° and will stay wherever you leave it. Glad you got one, you’ll love it!
Genius, maybe I can convince my husband to get a barn cat! 😊 Janey, is there a bag or brand of compost you can recommend? I have very clay heavy soil and compacted soil. Im hoping with the right compost recipe and a bit of patience i can turn that around for my garden. Thanks!
You may get compost from your local dpw for free! You just have to lug it home.
