These are my takeaways from the video: (1) Another home run for Wes. The man is a magician, the Harry Potter of Northern Illinois. (That was for you, Hufflepuff) It’s not only his knowledge, but the fact he’ll take on virtually any challenge that makes him so interesting to watch. Add his sense of understated humor to the mix and we have a Must See Video. (2) Hufflepuff is totally adorable. She brightens up any video simply by being in it. I love the fact that Area Diesel sent two sweatshirts and caps. It’s obvious they know her and her love of swag. Go Hufflepuff.

My father was a mechanic starting late 50's back when labour and shop rates were low and part prices were high.
The mechanics were the ones to do the actual repairs, or install the rebuild kits instead of off the shelf remans.
Alternators, starters, brake master cylinders...all that stuff.
Predating the epoxy coated tank repairs, he used to braze rads and fuel tanks.
The dealership was next door to a felt factory for boot insoles.
There was a huge steam boiler in the factory and the mechanics would steam clean the gas tanks with live steam off a 2 inch pipe.
(far different from steam cleaning" with a hot water pressure washer)
    Apparently that worked.
I did throw an "empty" gas tank on a fire pit once. It burned and popped all day like a pulse jet.

Alternate name suggestions: Watch Westie1 Work? Seriously, you and Mustie have an alternate but parallel set of abilities to diagnose the potential of seriously tired iron; mumified, mousified proto junk and bring it back to life. Don't be such a doubter!!!

Reading all the horror stories below makes me realise how lucky one of our workers was. He just slapped a patch over the hole in the petrol tank, and hit it with a WW2 arc welder. Didn't do anything to prepare the tank, just left it 1/4 full of petrol. 60 odd years later Bob is still around, and that ute (complete with amazing fuel tank repair) lasted into this century.

Just for future reference, I have repaired gas tanks with fiberglass. Tanks much like the one you repaired. Just clean the area with sandpaper, then coat with resin and cloth. Never had any leaks.

There's not a lot of point in getting her to this stage, then leaving us hanging. It would be great to see stuff getting forked and lifted, maybe another tin of yellow paint too.👍👌😁
    Cheers for now,🍻

Good work dude 🤘🏼 nothing worse than welding rusty thin contaminated metal. Did you seal the inside with anything? If you mentioned it I missed it! I did a video on a fuel tank today as well and had good luck with a 2 part epoxy sealer I used. Fixed up some pin holes with no problems
