Alphas Air Stream Custom Upgrades Installing Drag Clicker

Quick explanation on how to upgrade the new to the channel Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom or ACS as some call it now.. picked this reel up in a deal from a subscriber along with the Silver Creek .. didn't plan on getting this reel but since I have it I might as well make it right by adding a drag clicker and the bearing on the worm gear..

The "looks like carbon disc"s are drag washers cut from "carbontex". You can buy sheets of that on aliexpress as well, ideally together with a "circle cutter". That way you can cut your own brake washers (for all kinds of reels..) that usually go for tremendous prices. Before the carbontex days, plastic discs and before that leather and even cloth were used. In case you ever get "the feels" for old spinning reels go grab yourself a german "D.A.M. Quick" model (from the mid of the last century) and throw carbontex washers on there - the old Quick models are built like tanks and together with the modern brake washers you create a reel that performs state of the art and can be passed on to future generations by how tough they're built.

Excellent "how to" video. Interesting to learn how to de-anodize aluminum.
I am worried though about the Bass Baby replacement craft. It will be hard to find a narrower beam boat that has thae awsome stability of the bass baby. I used to design small boats, and when you loose even a few inches of beam it really hurts the stability. Extra length doesn't help much, especially since it typically doesn't increase the waterline length as much as it does overall length. Hopefully you can get some good info from subscribers on what works well.

Yeah there's a few I've been looking at but any 2 man bass boat is more stable than a yak..lol

Thought about a trailer and maybe at some point like when I'm older and just not able to load the boat up and in a truck but for now just the extra cost and hassle of trailering something doesn't seem like the best choice for me.. who knows though..

Thought the Air Stream Custom had aluminum gears...

I did to but mine are definitely brass and smooth
