I have enjoyed learning so much about Russia from your channel! I work in a hospital here in the USA, and I currently have a very sick patient who is from Yakutsk, and speaks very little English. I was able to discuss all of the things I’ve been learning about her home in Russia, and it made her so happy! I could tell it meant a lot to her to feel connected to home. I showed her your channel and she is grateful to you for spreading good information about Russia. Much love ❤️

@LukeMartin0001would you say something similar to a Russian that said they wanted to experience the desert weather? Because it feels to me that you’re discouraging someone to have this experience, based on no information whatsoever. Almost like trying to keep him “out”. I hope I’m wrong.

@LukeMartin0001 then it’s a good thing it’s not up to you where or what country she gets to visit. Your feelings about her staying in her country and not visiting places such as this because you’ll like to “keep her out” is 100% your problem and your issue to deal with not hers.

So refreshing and cold. Then quickly back in the warm steam room. Blessings to you and the wonderful people in Yakutia!!! Would love to go there some day!!! Thank you Eli! Coldest place on earth? Lol dunno about that. I'm in Canada near the lakes. Last winter was soft as a pillow but the one before that was cold. Feb kicked off with two -43c days in a row. Didn't matter if I had the block heater plugged in, still had to double cycle the glow plugs to get the truck started and barely at that. Come spring found a bunch of dead varmints that didn't make it through winter.
I ain't even where it's real cold like the territories or the Alaskan interior.
So cold there you'll wanna spend the night at the bar you've been drinking at lest you freeze to death doing the stumbly-bumbly home.

How interesting. I wonder if they are related to Samoyeds.
Samoyeds have little to no scent, they shed UNGODLY amounts of fur, in the west they are always white (because the Iron Curtain went up just after the Samoyedic people were contacted by I believe English explorers - 9 dogs came out and all were white), their fur can be knitted into wool. (Nearly) all Samoyeds in the West are descendants of just those 9 dogs.
Samoyeds had 3 jobs - pulling sled, herding reindeer, and sleeping with children to keep them warm at night.
Samoyeds in Russia can be white, black, or red and they are a bit thinner than the ones you see in the west. The Nenet's version of a Samoyed looks very similar to a Yakutian Laika dog. If they are scentless, and have EXTREMELY fine hair, I bet they are related.

Do Yakutian Laikia's have similar personalities?
BTW - you probably already know this but I always tell it to people. If your Samoyed ever gets a "hot spot" a fungal infection, it's LIKELY because you didn't entirely remove the soap from their coat in their last bath. I used to bathe mine, rinse them out, and refill the tub, and rinse them out again. I'd fluff their fur on every inch of their body on the second rinse to make certain everything was out.
Their hair is so fine it's difficult to entirely wash them out.

Amazing, in my town Winters -20°C min. And max. +40°C in Summers in Germany.
Thats a temperature Difference of 60°C.
My wife is from another German region where Winters only go to 4°C and summers max. 42°C so she is scared about how cold other regions in germany can be especially near Alps or Black Forest at more than 1000m.
But most times its raining or cloudy between 8°C and 20°C.

There's a hypothesis that people must better cooperate in colder climates in order to survive and as a result, sociopathy is far less common in areas that require community for the group to survive.
The reverse is that people who have evolved along the equator or more temperate climates have less need of cooperation so sociopathy is more common.

@@youtubehandlesareridiculous It depends. Latin populations are reknowned for their tempers, just look at Italy, but it is hard to paint a broad brush. Your last sentence about travel is so true. Thank you for the love, care, and understanding your channel spreads throughout our whole world. Spasiba, citizen of Russia and the world!

My friend once told me that when she lived in Russia, she had no place to put her milk & other groceries that needed refrigerating. So she would just keep them inside the garage because it was so equivalent to a refrigerator with the air. Her milk was just fine!

I study in St Petersburg. When I moved here from my hometown I lived in an old dormitory, where we had no fridges. We used to put our food in plastic bags and hang it outside the window. However, we couldn't keep the food for many days during summer and early autumn. So we found some girls, who would give us an old fridge for free, if we could clean it ourselves. Ironically, when we finally cleaned the fridge, almost all the students were moved to a new dormitory with a modern fridge in every room. Still, the old refrigerator served us well for few days.
By the way, the coldest temperature I have ever experienced in my hometown (Vologda) was -46 degrees Celsius. It was quite unusual, because before that the temperature rarely fell below -30 degrees. Nevertheless, in russia all the houses in cities and towns are connected to the central heating system, so that wasn't a problem at all.

Nice video, except for the fact that Russia is now killing innocent people in Ukraine. Men from Yakutia and other regions are going to Ukraine, killing people and stealing washing machines. Go to the streets and stop Putin.

This is a really beautiful video, Eli! Here in the South of Eastern Canada we get very cold winters as well but not THAT cold! We consider -35 degrees cold. Here are also people going ice bathing and life definitely doesn't stop in winter. But up in the North, the winters are like in Yakutsk and the people there, the Inuit, also cherish their traditional way of living. Yet, I admire the strength and joy of life of the Yakut people because I myself, coming originally from Europe, find the winters here very long and I miss the beautiful spring I am used to. Continue to prove us wrong about all the places you visit.
