Developed by Apex Computer Productions and published by Thalamus in 1992
Clyde Radcliffe returns once again, rescuing more if his Fuzzy friends from a fate worse than lunch in this awesome sequel. The version on show here is the EasyFlash cartridge release, which packs in some additional screens not present from the tape version, plus removing loading times complete.
The decision to remove the side-scrolling sections meant that some fans were torn as to whether they preferred Creatures or this sequel, but there's no denying that Creatures 2 is just a stunning achievement.
John and Steve Rowlands, assisted by Andy Roberts, put together a game that oozes quality. The production values are unparalleled, and include the same trademark humour that made the original so special.

A superb sequel and one of the best C64 games ever made - check the video description for time codes!
One of the best game intros I have ever seen. Stunning!
Amazing game, used to play this when I would go to my grandparents place every Sunday dinner
The true genius in Apex - for me - was Steve. His gfx, music and sfx were and remain world class. Not that I'm disparaging John by any means.
The level of creativity, art and engineering is insane. And the ending with chainsaw and spraying blood was awesome.
All within 1 mhz cpu power and 64 kbyte of memory. Amazing game,
Will never get bored of the very best GET READY screen out there.
this game is indeed one of the best optimizitation of software development on C64 ever realized together with Rainbow Island... it is incredible how good the animations are and how detailed the graphic is... amazing use of the colur palette of the machine and an amazing soundtrack too... Hilarious the intro screen made in Terminator 2 style...
The get ready music is my ringtone ! 😎
What has always amazed me next to the music how the game could move 8 sprites at the same. I mean the movement phases, the explosions and additional elements are changing so rapidly that they have maxed out everything from the C64.
Superb game, GFX animations, MUSIC
"With the critical and financial success of Creatures, a sequel
was inevitable. It was easy to recognise that the most innovative
elements of the original title were the torture screens, so these
would naturally form the backbone of the sequel's design.
A departure from side-scrolling levels allowed us to add several
different types of sub-game, resulting in yet another massive
multi-load product and another 'Gold Medal' from Zzap!64."
-- John Rowlands, co-designer and programmer (Creatures II, Thalamus, C64)
this is an excellent game for the c64, I didn't appreciate it enough back in the day
Imagine if the Commodore company would have made arcade machines... The C64 Hardware was absolutely amazing....
the arcade machines came out packed with lots of chips....
I love this game on my old C64!!!
One of my favourite C64 games back then when I was a kido xD
This game is so difficult! It took me 30 mins to get past the first screen. Then I got a game over and it sent me back to the start lol. Wonderfully designed though. They don’t make them like this anymore!
I remember having a playable demo of this as a kid. Was the level at about 10:20. I was blown away by the graphics and the bassy sound. I never owned the whole game, unfortunately..
One of the best games I ever played
How were those bosses created? Theres got to be more than 8 sprites there including all the other stuff going on. Still amazes me.
WOW Didnt expecting this !!
Great game, great graphics and music
Music and Gfx was top notch for it's times !
Hahaha one of the best C64 games ever!
08:15 Enter fullscreen. Pick and focus on any snowflake at top of screen . Follow it as drop down to ground. You'll also see other snowflakes overlap your snowflake as it is faster.
Pixel perfection, if you ask me :-)
6:52 - Look what your greed has done.
I'm sure he won't mind - it was for a good cause 😆
Who name your friendly cartunish game as "Torture Trouble" lol
This is a great game, and this is coming from someone who generally isn't a fan of cutsie platform games
I remember reading a full walkthrough for this game in Commodore Format! Really weird cheat to get infinite lives or something, wet your finger and rub one of the joystick ports?! I used a flannel
At the fuzzy fountain (3:58 in this video), Lick your finger and touch the pins of joystick port 1, How did John Rowlands discover this... and what was he doing at the time? The Mouse from Summer Games appears in black n white and waves arms when you touch the port, when he turns colour, u got infinite lives. Worlds crazyest cheat code. I would love to see Cartridge versions of the Creatures and Mayhem Games. (or all of them plus mayhem megamix on one super-cart)
I spent *forever* trying to find those bonus screens on the tape version!!
(thanks for the vid!)
(no indication *whatsoever* given that they didn't exist, same hints about being in 'the right place at the right time' in the manual!)
Great video, thanks! And cool thing to include the deaths in the end of the video. I remember Mr. Chainsaw continued his work a bit longer at 1:00:04 before screen cut off. He made several rapid motions in the end. Anybody remember seen this?
this whole game looks like a shitpost in the most affectionate way- Not one part of this is understandable; the dancing creature; the levels being called 'Torture Screens'. Perfection
36:40 'lol shrug' :D
How you get the bird to carry you up in stage 3
CRT plz this amazing game deserve it.
This should've been rated M because of how Gory this game is
I remember I never finished stage 3 cause I was too stupid for this xD
This is game MASTERY!
4k? for better details ? xD
4k would actually detract from the experience these games were meant to be played with crt scanlines
Weirdly creatures on the Amiga was pretty garbage. But the c64 versions were awesome.
the c64 system
run perfect very heavy games like this enforcer turrican 3
but it has lag with a super mario. baaaa
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giana_Sisters%3A_Twisted_Dreams
4k from C64? thats have sense? real fom C64 thats 160×200 and 16 colors!
not sure it's as good as the first one, i can't even get off the first screen, and then you've got a very long winded interlude stage, probably better off if i don't get off the first screen.. lol
Too difficult for me. It's all too fast.
