@@ReidStefanMusic i mean too me the sub sounds more Audible doing this approach. Ofcourse in a more subtle way, but it remind me allot of compressor bass sound, when u use compression to make bass louder. I agree! Alkane has the best graphics of any distortion. I find myself creatively drowning in all the menus and complexities of FabFilter and Izotope distortions, whereas alkane is simple and musical to use
Here’s an overview of all the “how to’s” in today’s tutorial if you got distracted by that beautiful sounding distortion plugin 😉 1. Experiment with your song’s key using pitch shifting on your master as a shortcut. Waves soundshifter works great and costs under $30 2. Use your bass notes as a guide to find which key pronounces the best in small speakers. You don’t need to spend money on plugins to apply this tip 3. Use EQ to low shelf some of your sub bass down, while boosting the mids at 1k. I like FabFilter Pro q 3 but any EQ does filtering like this. 4. Use EQ to filter your intro to make it sound like it’s already in small speakers as a special effect. Again, Use any EQ for this you like 5. Use saturation to slightly distort either your drums or your whole master to add aggression and grab people’s attention on social media. Use my promo code “reidstefan” for 25% off Alkane. 6. Use track panning, or the autopan within your sampler to add width to every percussion/sample/instrument that doesn’t need to be centered. Center your lead vocals, kick, snare, sub bass and sometimes lead synths
Thanks ReidStefan. I have a question. Which matters more, LUFS loudness or true peak? I usually keep my mixes -9 to -11 LUFS and keep my true peak at -1 dB. What I find strange is that sometimes my mix sound a bit quiter on social media, I'm assuming because of loudness compression, which makes me debate whether I should go with -9 LUFS or-10 or -11. I don't do any EQ on the master except just cutting bass frequencies if I feel they're too strong, but I probably should get in the habit of EQing fully

In most situations, People wanna hear exactly what they “fell in love with” when they go the extra step to listen on Spotify. But there’s loads of songs that’s use extra distorted versions like “Milliom Dollar Baby” VHS tape Diatortion Version in every tiktok. People also pitch up and slow down songs for attention too
my only problem is when i play my mix on mu iphone at full volume the high end of the vocal sounds crackly but nothing else and any other normal speaker sounds fine car etc
If the vocals crackle during loud bass heavy parts of your song try reducing more low shelf in your master. If the vocals are crackly during softer parts of the song then apply more de-essing 👍

Daaamn I havent been here in a minute. Nice stu Reid!
I need hear this beat complete! It's gold.
Pushinh the bass down to increase loudness is actually very smart 😅
Yes! sub bass doesnt contribute much to your perceived loudness, especially thru phone or earbuds

Love this puppit dude. always rocking the best vst's to get
That beat slapping 🔥🔥
Especially with the added distortion 😍
The realest puppet is back. Please make more vids.
Great tips and the beat is super fly!
🔥🔥🔥
This thing is awesome but the price is simply eye watering. I know it’s top shelf plugin but sheeeeeeeeeeesh.
Great topic! Appreciate it
Very useful information and the graphics are beautiful👍

good stuff 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I see you Reid having fun making a Californian G Funk Beat for that Kalifornia Dynamic plug (pun intentended) 😂😏
Oh the pitched version fits awsome
It’s a great trick to quickly experiment with different keys for your song
That alkane plugin sounds freaking amazing , the price though, 300 😢
so i guess this video was pretty much a low down sales pitch for the saturator that is 299 hahahahahahaha

Neither, don't use those metrics they're terrible in practice irl. Make it as loud as you want it
How do you know which key the artist you're working with is sing in?
So at the end you realize it was an ad.
His career is to demonstrate plugins & gear 👍🏻

A minha mix soa bem nos phones, telemóvel, carro e monitores, mas nos meus ear buds da Xiaomi a mix soa abafada e bastante diferente. Alguma solução?

Nice tutorial but no mention of earbuds which I think would be quite different to phone speakers 😥
I treat things similarly for both
❤
What about mixing through iPhone speakers
There's apps that stream audio straight to your phone like Muse (which is free) and AudioMovers
A regular (western) musical key has seven notes in it, note eight.
True! I count the higher octave of the root note as 8 but many people don’t
Good morning, from my end
Early Gang 😎👍
I have a song can i please send it to you so it can be fixed please
How make?
When i think of mids i think of like bubba kush
does the puppet fart?
Yes

Hey Reid, What do You think of My Upcoming Theme Music that I’m making called Classic to Remember ?
300€,thanks but…NO! 😂
It’s definitely an end-game quality distortion plugin sonically & graphically! It’s Not another basic VST coded by a beginner developer 🔥
Lmaoo exactly just get spectre 😂

just use good speakers
Nobody is carrying “good speakers” around with them in their day-to-day life
@@ReidStefanMusic that is theire problem , why should you degrade you music for them
@@Manjarowbecause you want your music to be easily consumable by the masses, unless you plan on being a hobbyist forever (which is perfectly fine)

I'm using AirPods for so long that I must mix on them otherwise the mix sucks. (it sucks anyway)
Me in 2020: I will never master for TikTok 😤
Me now: phone mix is priority 1🥲
Gotta make a good first impression if you want people to notice you
