These days a super speciality crop called “MICROGREENS” is gaining popularity as one of the best immunity boosting food through media and agriculture scientists.
Agriculture Scientists in India also gave microgreen mantra during lockdown.According to scientists MICROGREENS are nutritional powerhouses that are full of proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients etc and also they are more nutrient dense than fully-grown vegetables.
In a study published in journal of AGRICULTURE AND FOOD CHEMISTRY & RESEARCHERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, microgreens contain between 4 to 40 times more nutrients by weight than their matured counterparts.
Eating just a quarter cup of MICROGREENS provides all the essential nutrients needed for the day.
They also they add taste and flavor to dishes.
So we must seriously think to incorporate them in our daily diet. My main aim of this video is to encourage all of you to incorporate micro greens in your daily diet.
So all of you will be curious to know what exactly are “MICROGREENS”?
In Indian culture, we are more used to eating sprouts (example - gram, moong) or baby greens (methi leaves, spinach, etc). MICROGREENS is the stage after sprout, when the 1st true pair of leaves has fully opened and turned green. In other words, “MICROGREENS” are bigger than sprouts but smaller than baby greens
.
“MICROGREENS” can grow in soil, soil less or hydroponically and they need sunlight at least 4-5 hours daily. People typically harvest them after 1-3 weeks depending upon the type of plant. Basically MICROGREENS can be grown from almost any kind of seeds of vegetables, spices and herbs with a range of tastes like spicy, sweet, earthy, crisp, tangy and mellow.
Beginners usually grow MICROGREENS easy to grow like moong, fenugreek, gram, mustard, radish and sunflower. Most flavorful MICROGREENS varieties are peas, corn, beetroot, mustard, radish and sunflower.
BENEFITS OF GROWING MICROGREENS:
Microgreens are easy, quick and convenient to grow in small spaces, requires small investment (small amount of soil, water and seeds), can be grown all the year round (sunlight is available for 4-5 hours daily) and requires low maintenance.
So growing microgreens is very practical and economical way to get a continuous supply of fresh, organic nutrition zero mile greens at home.

Reduces chronic risk diseases, improves overall health and boosts our immune system.
b. START MICROGREEN BUSINESS:
One of the most profitable crops for small-scale growers. Low investment will fetch a high price.

We can eat them raw or in salad, garnish them on breakfast dishes or on meals, add them to soups, raita and stir-fries. MICROGREENS may also be blended into smoothies and juices.

Hello madam , First of all ,congrats on making a very simple and easily understandable video , I am an ex media person ( definitely not anymore in any form) . but now into , library self employment .
I already am a follower of the organic movement , here in southern India. As you already know plastic is a very enviro - anti material , so even if you grow micro farming with all the nutrients won't the plastic have a negative impact on the seeds , as the soil is in contact with the plastic ??
An important doubt for you to find out if required ? Please clarify so that I can confidently pursue this also

Fantastic explanation! But I wonder what do you do with of that potting mix soil after harvesting microgreens? Do you regrow seeds on them? Or do you use it for composting?

I recently tried growing mustard microgreen growth was very good... simultaneously I grew wheat grass....both in water...tray used had drainage holes...took care of it very well ...very excitedly harvested both wheat grass as usually tasted very good...but...mustard taste was a disaster it tasted full if chemical not at all edible...I have tasted mustard microgreen earlier in different places but the taste were little spicy and it was really good but what I grew was tasting horrible I don't know where it went wrong...good quality water,tray,maintenance and wether was also good...same method n condition I grew both...I first doubted water but it proved wrong ....I used daily cooking mustard seeds was that a problem...

You are most welcome, Its a one time harvest, only wheatgrass, peas, chikpeas and gram microgreens can regrow 2-3 times.Soil can be used for making compost or throw it.
