    “The culmination of love is grief” and “To grieve deeply is to have loved fully” are two of the best and most beautiful quotes I’ve ever heard in any piece of media. It reminds me of something Andrew Garfield said in an interview once about grieving his mother after her death.
    "I hope this grief stays with me because it's all the unexpressed love that I didn't get to tell her.”
    Faye will always be a part of Kratos because the grief of losing her will always stay with him.

    • @Cangaca777
      @Cangaca777 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Those lines essentially changed Kratos and how he approaches life emotionally. that's why he said to Atreus later at the gates of Asgard: "- I was wrong son, dont close your heart to their suffering and desperation, open it! that was your mother's wish and now it's mine too."
      Kratos character development is one of the best ever created in videogames!

    Kratos talking to Faye in his dreams is the most relatable part in my opinion. My mom died 8 years ago when I was 19. Since then she has been a constant in my dreams. I can recall almost every dream I have with her in it.

      My mom died when I was 18. About 10 years later I told my GF about how much I dream about her and she told me "Aw. You're still looking for her! She's okay!! 🥲" The most comfort I've ever been given over losing her. I'm grateful for them both 🙏🏽

    When Freya showed up with the noose, I couldn't help but notice how similar her dialog to Odin was to what Baldur had said to her at the end of the 2018 game.
    Baldur to Freya: I've spent the last 100 years dreaming of this moment. I practiced everything I would say to you, every word. To make you finally understand exactly what you stole from me...
    Freya to Odin: I've spent many long winters thinking about what I would say to you, as I watched you take your last breath.
    Baldur to Freya: But now I realize I don't need you to understand anything. I don't need you at all.
    Freya to Odin: But now I realize there is only one thing I need you to know. You have no hold on me anymore.
    The scene is also similar because both Freya and Baldur tried to choke the person they were talking to, to death. And at the same time the person being choked is telling the person choking them that they love them.

    • @sirweebs2914
      @sirweebs2914 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      yea they were certainly related. Good thing that Freya had something in her that Baldr had not.. "Forgivness".

  • @stonecoldku4161

    That last dream with Faye is the only one where Kratos doesn't wake up in a panic. With the other two he's worried about one thing or another. Worried about the future, worried about fate, worried about his son, worried about losing his family, worried about becoming the monster again. This last dream he's probably worried about the battle, but he is ready for whatever comes next. Even if it is to die.

    I literally stopped and immediately clicked on your video once I saw the notification. Your playthrough of this game has been one of the best out of all the others I've watched. I can't express how much I love how you get so immersed into this whole game. I especially love how emotionally attached you get to these characters. Like that dream scene of Kratos and Faye was definitely hit in the feels and was so powerful. And I also loved the whole fight scene with Thor and Odin. So epic. This game is truly a masterpiece and I can't wait for your reaction to the next part. Thanks Miranda!!

    The truest form of art is not in the shape it takes but how it evokes something in the one witnessing it.
    It doesn't matter if you think you're thoughts are a bit jumbled, it means that the game evoked something deep in you and that just speaks to how beautiful a piece of art it is.

    33:37 onwards might be one of the greatest pieces of art I've ever seen. everything in this game AND the previous one building up to this moment story wise, coupled with the absolutely STELLAR music by Bear McCreary, the sound of Gjallahorn itself (which could not possibly be more epic than they've made it here), the explosion of colour that results from it and around the temple, and the charge into Asgard...
    THIS is why we love video games, because moments like this are so special

  • @ShireenPlays
    @ShireenPlays ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You are 100% correct, this game is a work of art!
    I've experienced a lot of grief in the last 10 years and I've always had a hard time dealing with it, but hearing Faye say "To greive deeply, is to have loved fully", we must embrace death and we need to talk about it. Even when it may seem incredibly unfair and especially when it is completely unexpected.

    33:56 This is hands down one of the greatest moments in the history of gaming; the culmination of an entire series beginning in Ancient Greece and finishing in Ancient Scandinavia boiled down into a single clarion call by Kratos "Free Peoples of the Nine Realms, rally to me now! Ragnarok is upon us and our time has come at last! Hear the roar of the Gjallarhorn! Alfheim! Helheim! Svartalfheim! Midgard! Vanaheim! Muspelheim! Niflheim! We go now to battle! To bring about the end of Odin's reign! Stand together! Fight as one! Not a step back! TO WAR!!"

Mostly because of your fascination with Norse mythology and how much you geek out over hearing about/seeing certain Norse characters and places like MCU fans like do over references and name drops from the comic books. God of War 1-3 showed a ruthless monster who did whatever it took to reach his goals, with essentially no compassion to any living being, including himself. God of War 2018 and Ragnarök showed a Father, a Teacher, a Friend, a Husband, a Brother, a Leader, and finally, a better person. Kratos developed from a monster to a hero, and we were with him every step of the way, watching him grow and become what he is today. I used to hate his reckless violence and bloodshed, now I respect him as a warrior, a true hero. These games are very well designed, hats off to the creators and Miranda for playing them so well. A late comment, I know, but I am only watching them now, so the response.

Red dead 2 is still my favorite over Ragnarok, but just by a hair, they are both works of art in their own way. In the 2018 God of War, I thought the best story section of that game was from when Atreus passed out from Raging at Modi to when Kratos used the Blades of Chaos for the first time in that game. The dialog, pacing, music, acting, everything was done as well as it could've possibly been done. It was perfect.
    This game's best story moment was from when Kratos entered his tent to sleep the night before Ragnarök until the moment he woke Atreus up the next morning to head into battle. The dialog, pacing, music, acting, everything was done as well as it could've possibly been done. It was perfect.

    Miranda, have you ever played a game and thought it would make a great movie? Which actors would play which characters? I do all the time. Take care. 😊

    Movies, and especially video games, can still get a bad rap today, but the truth is they are, or can be, our modern day medium for telling epic stories the same as books and plays do. GOW and RDR are fantastic examples of this. That is why so many, such as myself, take how they are told so seriously. The accuracy, consistency, and sense of how they are told. And, of course, the messages they portray.
    I think Kratos telling Atreus to open his heart might be a pinch misunderstood in a way.
    Kratos spent his life, like many in the real world do today, concerned only with propagating his own side of things at the cost of those he saw as his opposition. There were no innocents in his early years, except perhaps children. But by and large, everyone that wasn't his target was either in his way or a potential tool for him. He really was indistinguishable from a psychopath with very rare exceptions. But of course, he was likely raised this way as a Spartan or at least that's how he interpreted Spartans lessons for war.
    Kratos's lessons on closing one's heart for Atreus were designed in how to see one's enemies, which is actually, to an extent, a legitimate thing to teach. One cannot feel for another seeking to kill them and hope to survive if the need to defend oneself comes.
    But thankfully, what Kratos did realize is that in war, there is your side, there is your enemy, and there are innocents that want nothing to do with the fighting. And if one seeks to live for justice, then one must seek to protect the innocent whenever possible, even if it risks one's ultimate victory.
    It is not to Atreus and Kratos's enemies Kratos advises we open our hearts to, but to the innocent. To those that are not the target.
    Kratos never wished to stamp out his sons goodness. Far from it. That is why he never raised him as a Spartan. But he did still need to make him ready to deal with threats.
    There are times one must close their heart to survive threats. But yes, the rest of the time we should open our hearts. Otherwise, we have no grounds by which to care, empathize, and help each other at all

    To the point of Kratos basically imposing certain traits on Atreus : One of the most repeated things that Kratos says to him until Atreus leaves for Asgard is "You are my son" and I interpret that as "You are who I want you to be" and Atreus as a teen's obvious response is "F this shiz I'm out"

    Just so you know the revelations are not over just yet although you probably already know that. I'm still so bummed out that this game didn't win Game Of The Year. I mean I never really payed too much attention to Elden Ring and what it had to offer, but God Of War has had me entranced since the God Of War 2 days on PS2. Kratos's entire story arch is just so epic and gutwrenching all at the same time. There's been hints within Ragnarok that point to the next mythology being explored is Ancient Egypt which so exciting for me because it is the first historical civilization that I got extremely interested in. Kufu was the original architect and builder of the Great Pyramids. I'm really excited if they take the series in that direction.

    Try to play Greek Saga of God of War and then, I'm sure you'll not to say "Be Kratos". I've seen your reaction to Kratos history but when you doing what Kratos did for Olympians - it is different way to get story.
    Your playthrough and reactions are still best for me (as I'm a big fan of GoW series).
    Thank you for your emotions.
