Victoria I love the energy of your newer seasons. So much calmer and no drama with owners who genuinely want what's best for their dogs and are willing to listen! And I love how much your training methods evolve with the years when you learn of more compassionate, force-free ways to train and communicate with dogs. You have just as much compassion for the people as well as the dogs. You've helped me train both of my dogs. I've been watching your show since it first aired and you truly never disappoint :)
Yup. That is the only think that I hated about her from her early episodes is now she was too harsh without enough understanding for some of the humans. But now, yes, she is a lot calmer with the people. Now she is pretty much perfect😇
I'm a dog behaviorist and can tell you there are many, many with similar and worse issues. I'm busier than I've ever been. I went from average 20 clients per month to over 150 and still growing.
Aw, they are like chips, you can't have just one! :) I had 5, my last one she's so quiet she doesn't even bark at the doorbell! But, I show leadership yet a lot of love and may activities. Owning a dog, even small one like a Doxie they need life enrichment, outings chasing squirrels and bunnies. It's a lifestyle, you need to be in shape to own a hunting dog.
Glad to see Otis getting less stressed and adapting better. At the beginning of this episode though I was crying. I just wanted to get on the floor with him and pet him gently and say "It's okay! It's okay!". I admit, I am a big softie for dachshunds.
I am so glad i decided to check this channel out again. Some of the ones posted 2 years ago I saw, but all these other ones I have not, at least so far.
@@elenasalvatore832Our old Basset Hound had his own stroller. He had spinal surgery, and also became very arthritic in his old age. He couldn’t walk long distances. But he was very gregarious, and loved being out and about. So we would put him in his stroller and take him to the park.
She makes the dog fear their owner that's not good training. Training need time and partnership between the dog and the owner she makes the owner superior and the dog to fear their existence.
The dog is in constent distress! Horrible!! Parents do the same with their kids, screaming and crying too. People need to take responsibility for them.
Our dog is a massive chewer and breaks every toy! It's gotten so bad that he chewed through our internet cables. What's the best way to positively redirect his chewing energy?
When adult dogs chew everything it's often a sign of boredom and severe anxiety. How to combat that I'm no expert but I suppose you could look up on more of her videos on how to combat anxiety and boredom. She did one about 2 years ago of people in the US I think it was a pitbull that destroyed everything from chewing watch it!
I would say first thing to do is to give way more exercise and stimulation to the dog, and another thing is to fill up kong with treats or something yummy and buy some super hard chewy toys for the dog to safely chew on. Usually a dog chewing is either bored or anxious. If it’s anxiety then it could help to work on building confidence.
@@lizalawsky3055 yes that dog called Scooby I think that’s the one you might be talking about thou I still haven’t come across the full episode of that
My grandpup daushand has a cat bed similar and loves it. I tried buying him a bigger bed. I felt so badly that he didn't had alot of space. My daughter wasn't happy because she told me he likes the small one. She was right, never went on the big (expensive) cushy bed gram bought him lol
Our old Basset Hound had an Amazon box that I painted, and put a pillow inside. It was meant to be temporary until his new bed arrived, but in the end, we couldn’t separate him from his funny little box.
brooo, i got a long haired doxie like a month before lockdown, he got little to no socialization so he has a lot of behavioral problems. He doesn't like when we have guests around and he HATES other dogs and has tried to jump a bigass pitbull once while we were walking. I feel so so guilty and i have tried everything but he's just a paranoid, nervous little man :(
Adorable little pup, hope with him being able to go out more he's able to lose that extra weight, being overweight is extra bad for a dog if it's a dachs (because of the short legs + long back).
I've got a malinois who is 5 months and a pitweiler who is 8 weeks, ace my malinois has so many issues because she was never socialize before I got her my pitweiler Kaliden I'm doing a lot of socializing and exposure training they are dealing with fireworks because of the new years and both are doing amazing and just sleeping through them

Your pups will learn to ignore dogs in shows. The only time mine are now sometimes tricked is with squeeky toys but then they notice it's from my phone and not realand give me the biggest stink eye.
you may want to try acting like your gonna go out aka get your coat, shoes, etc and then go to the door, then touch the door handle, then go and put everything back and do the steps over and over a few times a day so the dog gets used to seeing the normal signals and realizes that they don't always mean that you're gonna leave etc and then trying going out for literally 1 second, then immediately going back in and acting like its nothing at all and SLOWLY build up the time. just my thoughts. hope this helps a tiny bit.
@tanyasobsessions2131 yeah I've seen Victoria do that. I can try. When his momma leaves he stands by the door all day and sometimes all night. It's sad
Try rescue remedy, you can get it at either a chemist or health food shop. It comes in dropper form so buy the bigger bottle, and all you need to do is put a full dropper into his food bowl at every meal. It's great to use for anxiety and you should see results within two weeks at the most. Good luck.
These people need to buy ramps (not stairs) for the couch and wherever they jump. Trust me you don't want your Doxie to become paralyzed or have to go through back surgery! yeah I saw someone saying they missed seeing more with the families but IMO it was too much reality tv drama
There’s something really special about these new seasons. I like the old episodes, but I also love the type of owners they have in these new seasons.
What are some of the “forceful” techniques that Victoria has discarded?
@@imalwaysrightI was wondering that myself. What I’ve always liked about Victoria’s methods is that she doesn’t use force.

I’m wondering how many people with lockdown puppies have had similar problems with a lack of socialization and exposure.
I'm a dog behaviorist and can tell you there are many, many with similar and worse issues. I'm busier than I've ever been. I went from average 20 clients per month to over 150 and still growing.
My friends got a second dachshund during lockdown, and she is so much less socialization has so many more issues with people other than her owners.
I have 2 dachshunds. Both are lockdown pups and we struggle with some of these exact issues.
Haven't met my friend's dog 'cos of that! She even throws up at public places D= She gets really scared D=
As a vet tech, it's a thing! We are trying to educate our clients on socialization as much as possible!
I cant really blame the dog on this one. I hate it when I have to leave the house too

A dog in a stroller? Is that even a thing? Never seen it before...
It was actually in one of the episodes of this show.
@@elenasalvatore832 Yes, it is a thing. Dog strollers are common for dogs with disabiities or older dogs that have lower endurance.

1 problem of Dachshunds, they can't jump, due to their long backs, they can injure their spine, and end up in a dog wheelchair.
They CAN (and do) jump around five times their height (it's impressive to watch). But yes, this behavior should be reduced as much as possible.
