Exactly this. The family got a young, highly active dog and aren't up to giving her the exercise and stimulation needed to keep her happy. They have no space for her to run in and aren't active people who would run/hike with her, always going at a short slow-paced walk. Their idea of playing is sitting on a couch and lightly tossing a ball. Even when Victoria was doing the agility training, they did not seem happy, like "Oh no, do we have to do that?" They should have gotten a little couch potato lapdog, if anything, instead. At least they made the decision to re-home Marley, despite it showing they had zero intention of doing anything active or proactive.
I hope maybe Victoria can help with finding a home for it too. I am sure she knows more places to look. If I was the family though, I would look for a dog walker that could take her out solo. Even if it's 1 walk a day for awhile that will probably help. Since I would think the mom works & kids are at school.
I have a staffy cross lab, and she was energetic like Marley, we used to make her run with the kids to burn her energy. This family had no clue on how to care for her. Research is key before getting any dog
I have one now. He got neutered 13 days ago, then broke the top layer of his nail to the quick today. Those sad lab eyes can get ya every time if you let it.
Ya. And why doesn’t Victoria say that to them???? She’s supposedly the “expert” She should tell them that they need to re home the dog, for his own well being

I am glad they were honest enough to say she needs more exercise than they can give which I can respect. Too many people just drop a dog off at a shelter without seeking additional help first. I loved the wobble Kong, but my cattle dog would pick it up and drop it like the normal kong trying to get the treats out of the wobbling fast enough. But I am definitely going to try the copy training.

I have a Staffy. They are very high energy dogs but also complete cuddle buds. They are best of both worlds. From wanting to run and run to thinking they are a lap dog a sleeping on top of you.
We own a Staffy who is really strong and active. Raising a dog takes love and patience, it takes time. My husband plays with her at least one hour, and she also has her daily walks everyday to release energy. She combines tug-war (she exercises her mandible and shakes her head) along with catch and throw games. Always having the proper care to protect her teeth, gums and body. Every puppy has a destructive anxious phase but with proper attention this stops. You don’t need a large house or garden, what you need is to give your dog a proper, dedicated care. All family members have to be involved, both me and my husband are involved in her care so she loves and obeys both. She also gets well along with our Shih Tzu and are always together, she learned how to handle him so she is not harmed.
I had a pointer mix with staffy mix for sure He was a great protector and great to run with. A lot of energy. I had bought him dog bone that he chewed every evening which helped with the energy stimulation bit.
This is they type of dog that needs to have been properly socialized as if she was dog friendly going to the dog park would be a great outlet. But she is not. And living in an apt... this dog needs an owner that is a runner, owner that has a large 1 acre yard, or a job. Like bombsniffer, agility, protection work, something.
I definitely agree she needed to be socialized especially from a young age. But I’ve heard way too many stories of dogs getting attacked or learning bad habits from other dogs at the dog park; which could lead to reactive behaviors. But one on one in a controlled environment with a friendly dog growing up would have been amazing for her.
Having another dog does not equal social. The other dog becomes part of their pack. My dog is very social, she is a Staffy, she goes to the dog park n an off lead beach. She loves to play with the other dogs. I just have to watch her with little dogs as she doesn't understand that they don't want to play with her. She has been chased by little dogs at the dog park n just runs away from them.
I think they should have been thinking harder on type of dog. A staffie need alot and you should know from the start that any dog need your time and some more than others. The cat might be a better option for them 😅
I dont have a dog, but have an energetic cat, and i can tell without even watching the whole video that it is not the dogs fault but the owners. Owning pets is a responsibility. You have to accommodate them according to their needs. If you have an energetic pet, you exercise and play with them extra its simple, get that energy out of them
14:39 that’s really good but once you leave the likelihood, the owners are going to take their pets out to that kind of facility or park is very very low. So you need to make it as easy and as convenient as possible. It has to be right next-door and it has to be free of charge. And even then, it’s still very unlikely that you’re going to successfully get people to keep up with that kind of training regularly. Even people that are home all day are unlikely to do things that are outside of their normal daily activities. No matter how much it’ll help their pup.
It would be nice to do a follow up and see if they were able to rehome the dog. My guess is that they ended up taking her to a shelter and she was probably put down.

If you do not teach them right from wrong starting from day 1, you are at a huge disadvantage. Yes I did extensive research and knew I needed a toy dog and a lower energy one with lower end grooming needs. I can do casual walks, but over that? No way!
She seems more excited to play and curious to see the cats than aggressive with prey drive. I have had many dogs and have a Cane corso, staffy, and Pyrenees rn and all had this type of energy until they were desensitized to seeing cats. It was hard work with a dog tolerant and savvy cat working safely but it was worth it.
Staffies are the best dogs, but they do have A LOT of energy especially that young. My boy was constant hard work for about 8 years keeping his mind and body active. Now he is 15 and an absolute couch potato. Wouldn't trade him for the world. If you are thinking of adopting a staffy but this looks too hard for you, consider getting an older one. You won't regret it once you experience the unconditional love of a staffy.
