  • Welcome to HurryUpPinball - a show where I teach you how to work on your pinball machine. This tutorial will show you how to install the Pinsub SPIKE Subwoofer Kit from Pinnovators (Spike and Spike 2 systems). This kit will allow you to add a subwoofer to your pinball machine as well as capture direct audio for streaming or recording gameplay.
Important note: when installing the 3.5mm cable between the backbox and the cabinet. Make sure to leave some slack in the cable to allow you to raise and lower the backbox head. If you do not do this, it is possible to rip the PinSub board off of the connector when lowering the backbox head and potentially damaging the PinSub board or the Stern board.
Below is a link to the subwoofer kit that was installed in this video (Spike) along with the PinSub Mixer that allows you to connect up to four pinball machines to one subwoofer.

Great video, thanks! Question for you though: when running the Pinsmx mixer, is it okay to have two or more machines running at the same time even though they're hooked up to the same subwoofer? Obviously if both machines send a signal/noise to the subwoofer at the same time you're going to get a garbled output/sound since the subwoofer can only handle so much simultaneous input, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to cause any issues with the sub itself, or just sound bad in general.
I have a very nice Klipsch home theater sub I'm planning to use for this so the sub will be pretty robust in my case. But if the intent/recommendation with the Pinsmx mixer is still to only ever have one pin turned on at a time, then that would kind of kill it for me. Sorry for asking this here but I couldn't really find a clear answer on this anywhere else.
Thanks in advance for any experience you can provide!

I’ve only really used it when playing one game at a time while others weren’t playing the other games that were hooked up. I would recommend sending an email to Pinnovators regarding that question and how it affects the output through the single sub. Unfortunately I don’t have a clear answer for you on that one.
