THERE ARE NO UPDATES FOR 2024... HERE'S THE REAL INFO: That chassis is based on the previous mercedes GLS platform. Nobody really expected it to keep selling as well as it has, but it kind of just keeps going. Reason being that it DOES drive well and is overall extremely reliable (shocking for some people to hear, but it's true) because they've had 13 years to fine tune and dial in all the components made by their suppliers.
That being said, let's talk about the LACK of updates that the video eluded to but kind didn't explain fully.
Dodge's parent company (now Stellantis) has a newer platform being used for the 2022 and up Grand Cherokee, which can be used to make a new generation durango. But at the moment, that's made on a different assembly line. Meanwhile, the parent company is doing what they can to keep jobs at the factory where the durango is built until they can get a new long term product to assemble there when the current Durango finally goes away.
The irony is that it's currently unclear what exactly they're going to build since the parent company is still trying to consolidate a dozen brands or so and rationalize global operations and line up long-term projects.
In short, the durango may actually get up to 2 years extension, so long as the sales keep going strong.
As far as tech updates go, the uconnect system is honestly very comprehensive and very easy to use and adding bells and whistles just for the sake of wow factor currently goes against the plan of selling a car who's engineering was fully paid for years ago.
And that's really the thing here. The durango might not be the most cutting edge, but it's still very safe (overall), very reliable (despite what grandpa says about Dodges) and they're very rewarding to actually DRIVE and have a presence that goes contrary to all the plasticy generic looking mom mobiles in the mall parking lots.
Oh last thing, the parent company stopped making the optional 5.7 V8 and many expected that to kill durango sales, but so far, even that hasn't fully done it in, so again, Chrysler (I mean *Stellantis*) is going to ride the durango out a little longer, because every one that sells puts more money back in the bank. Other automakers WISH they could get so much life out of a platform but for the most part, only "Chrysler" has ever managed to do this so well.

I don't think they stopped the 5.7 V8 production. Durango production was supposed to end in December.

Just got a 2024 durango R/T premium for $48k. Loving the Hemi and the ventilated seats. Perfect fun car for the family.

I prefer the old school more powerful look without the need for the V8. For this old war veteran and his group of overweight fisherman this unit works as it's large enough for us to all pile in, hook up a small trailer and enjoy our yearly trip of which has been happening since '96. Great review because it feels like you're speaking to me, not simply trying to sell me a new vehicle.

Can you add fog lights using the 2023 assembly?

They added the air curtains fir increased aerodynamics in place of fog lights. LED headlights are standard so it's not bad without the fog lights.

I'm surprised at the no NHI recognition. My wife hit a Toyota CRV and it destroyed it whereas our 2016 Durango was barely damaged. We are considering buying another Durango due to its reliability and safety. Good review though.

Me and the wife just bought a new 2023 model same color on the outside but we have the brown seats. Ours also come with the 9 speaker alpine system and subwoofer. So far so good with it. The stereo system kinda bugs out at times but other than that it’s a nice vehicle

No disrespect to the channel, and plus knowing you’re a dealer that’s why I guess I can’t really comment. But you should definitely be able to list pros and cons!

I see the uconnect 5 navigation screen is still stuck in the dark mode like the 2023 Dodge Durango! I guess they don't plan on fixing that!

the acceleration was not "impressive". It's the exact same drivetrain as in the Grand Cherokee, but in a much heavier vehicle. Even in the GC that engine, while adequate, is not impressive. If the Durango lost the V8, there's no more point to it, the GC is simply the same vehicle but slightly better

The one in the video is a 3.6L v6 but the Hemi is available in three tunes : 360 HP in R/T, 475 HP in SRT 392, and 710 HP in SRT Hellcat Durango.
