Don Henley has been no said to have been lipsynching to his concerts while charging hundreds of dollars per ticket. So much for a (cl)ass act. 😡
Don Felder is still a member of the band, and gets paid like he was a member but does not tour or record with them, plus he won a huge settlement. Henley is a good song writer and singer, but Henley is a control freak and a Narcissist, and even complained about the shoes a band member was wearing during a performance, what they could say during interviews, and what they could play during interviews and talk shows. He was livid when Felder wrote the book Heaven and Hell, because Narcissists hate more than anything when something is perceived to make them look bad.
He gave Henley what is referred to as a Narcissistic Injury.
So ironic that they didn't prioritize brotherhood while singing such beautiful harmonies.
I so love Felder.
Felder is not a member of the Eagles. Get your facts straight Sir.

I mean he’s the leader of a band. That band has a reputation and a facade to uphold. Entertainers are like “magic”. What good would a magician be if he allowed wires to be shown during his tricks ? :P
Other Reasons to hate Henley and Frey too. After the Eagles reformed and they had in their contracts an even 5 ways split among the band that Henley and Frey came to the conclusion that they should be paid more. so they had it the contract changed so Felder Walsh and Schmidt would be paid less. now this is also when as they came back they jacked up their concert ticket prices way up. so there was millions more for Henley and Frey to gain but there was so much money there was NO REASON to do this. now remember 2 members of the Eagles had quit by this time. Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon who had enough of their crap. well this didnt sit well with Don Felder but Walsh went along and so did Timothy B Schmidt who was just glad to be in the band. Felder gets kicked out of the band for this and he was the reason the Eagles had gotten their rock edge with his guitar playing especially with Already Gone a huge rock song for them and he wrote the music to Hotel California. this is all uncovered in the Showtime Doc history of the Eagles and in Felders Book Heaven and Hell My Life in the Eagles. going back to the documentary Glen Frey could not have looked any worse here as a real asshole as he rips Felder for not taking this pay cut and a take it or leave it attitude. Felder just keeps saying a deal is a deal and Walsh's silence is heartbreaking as he should be backing up Felder here.
I don’t think that is totally true, Joe has talked about this and said it went to an earlier contract and that he and Timothy were not full members of the Organization
Frey and Henley were just lucky they met two guys like Walsh and Schmidt, who have a lot of talent and little self-esteem

But you never did anything enormous in your life unfortunately we don't even know what you look like. It takes a lot more bravery to be a successful person. I'm pretty sure you'll never know what that is but I'm also pretty sure you're young and dumb and either don't care what other people think. And made them happy back in the day. So confused about your own proclivities about how people should live no one really cares a fuk about you anymore you know why? Because you have no personality and no ability to go back into time and listen to something that is different from now!!! Think about how your older generation didn't know these things and love the music made love to the music forget about all that, just concentrate on right now and how unhappy you are with your own life
Not the first people to say this about the awesome Don Henley. It is just so true that I might never stop laughing. Love his music. Love the subtlety. That voice should have sang every Eagles track. But he really is, and was clueless when it comes to what other people think and feel.
He is one of my all time favorite singers! But he's also an insufferable jerk nozzle!
I don't understand why people like his voice. It's all head voice with him. He rarely sings from the diaphragm. He has to practically deepthroat the mic to be heard.

Perhaps, no in fact, there are two blemishes on Eagles, "The" is not to be used as a prefix, that have and will continue to limit their legacy- the egos of Glenn Frey and Don Henley. Apparently Henley, especially, has this paranoia that someone other than himself and Glenn's estate might earn a dime on their efforts to the extent that he has completely outlawed usage of anything to do with their material. In fact he has a whole army of attorneys who troll the airwaves in a way reminiscent of Gestapo radio-location specialists to insure that no one is secretly using their songs without prior consent. Never in the history of recorded music has a performer been so diligent at limiting his and their exposure to the world. It's ego over common sense; his efforts insure that the least promotion is to be accordingly given to their songbook.
Don and Glen couldn’t have done it on their own! It was a collaboration, it’s a pity they didn’t value the other band members. Timothy had a beautiful voice, better than Glen’s, Don Felder was an amazing talent to! Those two just thought they were they were better than everyone else.

Henley is an activist, he read the constitution and took it to heart. Freedom of speech and he speaks his mind about what he feels is important. You can judge his personal relations and business tactics as you wish but the only way to judge his music is nearly perfect.

I think it’s actually a pretty cool idea.
Cause music is a pretty powerful force for change and in 1976 we were all “yay, America, we made it!” Without thinking much about our complicated and troublesome history. Gotta keep growing and changing even after 200 years. Think how far we’ve come since 1976… did Hotel California have much to do with that? Mmmmm, probably not a bit, but it was cool he was thinking about it.
That being said, I agree he’s a dick.
Henley is a bitter soul. Nothing he does or any amount of money he makes can change that.
I think the Eagles wouldn’t have lasted that long if it wasn’t for him and Fry because they ran it like a business

@@ClassicGuitarRockJFL Why? He was right. 1976 was OK but much more needed to be done. We've come a long way since then. More always needs to be done. Hotel California may not be as important as he thinks it was at the time (which I'm not sure if there is even any info to say otherwise), but I'm from overseas, in Australia and everyone knows his music and the Eagles music. It's a staple at every party or BBQ in the country & it has been since then, even though I was only 6 when it was released. I bet it is pretty much every where else in the world too. Now the copyright issue that some TH-camrs have a problem with may be a different story but I don't know the full details of yet.

Rock, soul and folk artists are the successors to what poets like Wordsworth, Tennyson and Whitman were in the 19th century. With Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Marvin Gaye, the writer of music lyrics had effectively claimed and made good on the right to make global political statements. Henley took this up. Questioning his right to do so in the context of rock is a waste of time. The place of the critic is to interpret and assess the value of those statements.

Stop it , there was not one thing wrong with that statement except the way you read it , I understand exactly what Henley was talking about in that statement, you need to read the whole interview to get the right context, I love Don Henley and I loved Glenn Frey , most people hate them that don’t know how it really was , I know I’m not sure myself , but I know to this day Felder never says bad things about them , and he always talks about the good music they made together over the years , and I’m thinking he’d love to be back in the EAGLES I know I’d love it . Mojo Nixon (rest his soul) wrote that song Don Henley Must Die , but Don got up on stage with him one time and did the song with him and was a good sport about it and I’m pretty sure Mojo interviewed him too , imo most of the hatred comes from them being so good and so successful, but hey they saw so many bands get screwed by the music industry, that they hired Irving Azoff and like Henley said “ He may be Satan but he’s our Satan “ and together they were able to keep the suits at bay and pretty much run it their own careers and bravo for that .

It's just a unique and fortunate platform to have and it shouldn't wasted writing songs about gang banging. Jackson Browne is another true patriot and poet.

The problem with your analysis is that Henley's prescriptions for this country are exactly what is bringing this country down. Yes, he may have been correct that the country or the world was going down the wrong road -- the problem was that Henley was not looking at the right road. He got it totally backwards. HE is the corporate shill. HE is the denier of free speech. HE is the promoter of anti-market policies that destroy the wealth of the middle class. We are losing all the things he feared we would, but not for the reasons he states. In the end, like those 60s hippies, he joined forces with the tyranny of the surveillance state and the warmongers all the while acting like he was disgusted by such things. What a freaking fraud!
