    Um dos melhores sistemas de suspensão que eu vi até agora parabéns pelo seu trabalho,.

    This is scary, I never realized how horrible this suspension is. I have this same set up on my trailer and it's time for bushings. I now know why it was always making loud cracking noises on acceleration, turning and going over curbs from new. Complete garbage, stay as far away as you can! I'll be looking for a complete replacement suspension before I tow it anywhere. Timbren looks promising.

    This is a great video of how it works while moving. Ours is making a loud clanking noise when we slow down. It doesn’t always do it but when it does it’s when we slow down and it’s very loud. Would you have any idea if that’s just the axles settling? It’s a new fifth wheel also.

    On icy, snow packed...or even wet or dry roads, the last thing I want happening is the front axle on my two-axle trailer lifting off the pavement when I'm braking.

    Way, way too much side-flexing on those spring hangers! Eventually, they will snap in two as mine did. I had to have stiffeners welded to the sides after they were repaired. $900.00!!

    Those axles sure walk around a lot

    That frame should have some crossbracing installed!! It is flexing way too much!!!

      Tom Gough just one oversight by the manufacture, with how much their alignment system adds to the leverage on said mounts, rofl
      and as you said either braced, or the holes need to be redrilled further up, with the bottoms cut off

    The longer effective levers on the frame spring hangers are going to cause problems over time.

    Is the Equa-Flex better than the Mor/Ryde SRE3000? If I am going to try to improve my suspension, should I reinforce the frame too, get better axils?

      The Mor/ryde SRE3000 is by far the better ride

    I don't know about this system, it appears that the forward axle is lifting off the ground under breaking which doesnt seem normal. I would think that taking one axle of of the ground not only renders the electric break on that axle useless, but also forces the weight of the load onto one axle and the tow vehicle. Is there a reason for the forward axle to lift?

    • @brianhaygood183
      @brianhaygood183 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 4:10 the front axle lifts completely off the ground and locks up. This is a terrible design with, as others have pointed out, lousy execution besides.

    Woah the amount of flexing is scary

    are the brakes not adjusted correct between the wheels or does this suspension system cause that weird shift in axle weight upon braking?

    • @consaka1
      @consaka1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That axle weight shift is pretty common when the axles are hooked together in the middle. It is one reason some manufacturers only put the brakes on one of the two axles. Otherwise the front axle wants to slide. Plus it just contributes to the problem so the brakes get setup on the second axle. this axle has a tendency to lift the front axles with a strong anti-dive tendency. Really can only put brakes on both axles when they are independant of each other.

      consaka1 Ok that makes sense.... i asked because i have a triple axle trailer that seems to actually get a down pressure on the front axle when braking (brakes on all the wheels) maybe the dynamics are different with three axles.

    • @consaka1
      @consaka1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Morton Yeah a triple axle is a different animal. The center axle that has floating shackles on both ends will try to force the front axle down. The whole point of the shackle swivel setup of course is to keep equal weight distribution on all axles over rough road surfaces. I have seen center axles jump around during braking and also during maneuvering on soft soil.
      If i was going to build a triple I would do brakes on the first and last axle. I might consider tying them all together on a walking beam type suspension. Or possibly keeping them all independent with a air spring setup. Then I could have brakes on all 3 axles. It is a problem that would definitely keep me awake at nights deciding on.

      consaka1 Wow thanks for the insight, you seem to have a good understanding of all this. What is your expertise?

    • @consaka1
      @consaka1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom Morton Mostly practical experience. Science and physics were my fathers favorite topic. He was a teacher for 40 some odd years. I do some welding and 4x4 engineering now and then. And to confound people even more I have a BSN.

    I`m also not liking the weight lifting off the front axle! and I am also noticing how badly this frame is flexing! if you watch you can see the frame rail move independent of the belly covering. and you can also see the factory spring hangers flexing while driving, this may have something to do with the longer parts creating more leverage on things. over time, something will break!

    At the 4:15 mark the front axle lifts and the wheel locks up. Is that normal for this system? I was considering adding this to my trailer but not so sure now that I've seen this video.

      richamor1995 look in to dexters ez flex much beefier product

      That is normal for ANY tandem axle equalizer. Cast, forged, rubber whatever. It is basic geometry, torque & physics.

    I'm no mechanic, but it's obvious you need some sorta sway dampening system.
