Love the work you do on these and the examples of feathering. That helps me out so much. Thanks
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Loving the Hive Fleet Kraken videos very useful, keep'em coming.
Thanks, will do!
The blending! Did not know it could be that simple! Or is that feathering? Whatever. Super easy! Paint and use the water to draw it out. I would love to see more of that technique!
Yep it really is that simple! Feathering is the term I've always used, but I'm sure other people may call it something different. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely amazing work! The paint job is so cohesive, that it just looks *right*
Thank you very much!
Great work yet again!
Thanks!
WOW. Thanks master, that wing method is straight to the point.
I'm glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
This is really great! Would love to see your take on the Leviathan style
Great suggestion! Thank you!
looks great!
Thanks!
Everything about this video is fantastic. The quality, the skill and the instructions are top notch!
thank you!
This might be my favourite tyranid colourscheme man, damn
Love your stuff.
Thank you!
Nice video, great skill and easy to understand explanations! Looking forward for more!
Awesome, thank you!
@@MattsHobbyHour You are welcome. A short question, you use for your dry brushing a paper towel, but your results don't look, like they have a chalky finish. Is there something I been missing? Did you also work with a light moistured brush and compared the results?
@@the-ixam I use a lot of pressure when wiping the brush off, so there is barely any paint on it. A little bit of moisture from the paper towel works its way into the brush too, but that's minimal. I don't add any water. The trick is to make sure there is almost nothing on the brush, then drag the brush in a bunch of different directions, or circular motions, on the model. The softer the brush, the better. There are some drybrush-specific brushes on the market but I don't use those. Just cheap craft brushes. Hope that helps!
@@MattsHobbyHour Thanks for the details - it helps!
@@the-ixam you're welcome! Here is a good guide by Artis Opus th-cam.com/video/kxuY2NXeI2M/w-d-xo.html which you may find helpful. Good luck!
I wasn't sure how I wanted to paint my leviathan set tyranids. You've just helped me make up my mind. I only just came across your channel and you are already one of my absolute favourite painting channels. Love the music, the tone and the absolute value you are providing. I have no doubt your channel is going to grow exponentially very soon.
Thank you! Working hard at it. I'm glad the videos have been helpful!
I just got the leviathan box and wanted to go with hive fleet kraken. This is perfect! Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks for watching. I have a few more Leviathan Tyranid videos posted too. Good luck!
really love the way you did the wings
Thanks!
Excellent work!
thank you!
Awesome looking model. And very Well explained, even for newbies.
Thank you so much!
This is awesome
Thanks!
Nice vídeo, thanks
Thank you for watching!
You make this look way too easy. Great job, buddy.
Thanks Steve! Hope you're doing well
Wow, the finished model is incredible!! A really good explanation as well, it makes me want to get into painting Warhammer models! I'm excited to see how the other Tyranids look as well, do you have any ideas for how you'll design them?
Thank you! I have a few more tyranid painting videos on my channel. And should have some more posted over the coming weeks. Tyranids have a lot of options for color combinations, and I think I'll stick with mostly bone, red, black, and purple for mine. Thanks for watching!
Love your tutorials definitely trying them on my nid box’s set. Was wondering if you’d every tried a genestealer in the traditional purple and blue scheme?
I actually haven't painted them in that scheme before. I bet it would be a lot of fun. I'll have to track down some genestealers and give it a shot some time. Thanks for following and good luck with your tyranids!
Absolutely beautifully painted model paint! A piece of constructive criticism: it seems like during your rotational display at the end, your lighting is maybe a little yellow? It actually looks more amazing during the painting sections than the display section, I wonder if a whiter light would help? Amazing work mate!
Thanks! Yeah that's a good point, i've noticed it too. I'm still new to cameras, it must have something to do with the blue background and white balance settings. The lights I use are the same for both sets of footage. Lots to learn. Hopefully I can figure it out soon. Thanks for watching!
@@MattsHobbyHour No worries bro! I reckon it will definitely help the channel, I saw the thumbnail thinking 'that looks pretty good', then after actually watching the video I was like god damn haha it looks amazing!
Hi this is a wonderful tutorial. How woukd you paint the carpace for hive fleet leviathan?
I haven't tested a scheme yet for Leviathan, but I'd bet Luxion Purple mixed with a little Black Templar would make a great basecoat. You could highlight the edges with Phoenician Purple followed by Genestealer Purple. Good luck!
Hello fellow Matt. Im trying to figure out contrast paint, seems like i either have too much and it floods the model or i have barely enough.
That's probably the most difficult thing about painting this way. The amount of paint on the brush is really tricky. I'll try to include more info in a future video. One method you might try, make sure you're using a palette. Load up the brush with paint, then wipe the very end of the brush on your palette (not a paper towel), it should take enough of the paint off the brush so you dont get any flooding issues, and it should be loaded enough for a good coat on the model. Hope this helps and good luck! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
Maybe can you do a tutorial about the wings of the hive tyran?
Good idea! If I end up getting one I'll make sure to record the painting process. Thanks for watching!
Please paint battletech mechs!
Thanks for watching and for the suggestion! I'll probably be sticking with Games Workshop models for the channel, but maybe some time down the line.

thanks!
Wow this makes me really embarrassed about my Prime. It looks hideous next to this lol
Nothing to be embarrassed about! Just keep painting and keep learning!
Oils!
Good idea! I will make an oil video some time soon!
