Vinnie's solo is excellent, he's not cloning Ace's style but added heaps of his own flare. Vinnie was adding so much new energy to the older Kiss songs and with Eric Carr on the drums it was a refreshing change that Kiss needed at the time.

I dont want to disturb Ace's fans but the original solo sounds like a guitar pentatonic exercise and Vinnie gets It sounds more powerful and faster , It sounds a mix between Randy Rhoads and Vinnie Vincent style

I don't know but that was way better than expected. Some of those note choices were surprisingly good. And a suggestion: slow the speed down to 75% and it gets even better! 🤘😁

When you hear whatever Vinnie played on his own, you can tell that he was under surveillance in Kiss and thanks Paul and Gene (or Michael James Jackson) for that, specially on the records (Lick it up and a few songs from Creatures). In VVI everything is fast and meaningless. You could switch the solos from song to song without noticing it. He did a great job in Kiss, no doubt about it but it's obvious that he need someone to tell him "shut up" once for a while. This live solo is pretty cool by the way keeping some of the spirit adding some of that 80's flashy stuff. Luckly, he didn't have time to fuck it up, hahahah (just kidding)

I'm not a kiss fan, but I've listening to a lot of their music over the last few weeks. It's my opinion that Vinnie was the most technically able guitarist that Kiss ever had. It's a shame that his personality didn't fit the band, as I think that they could have done a lot of great things.

When we were 13 and 14, that pentatonic run was the shit and had to learn it. Foundational lead. Vinnie shreds, preferred his solo stuff.
pretty fitting that Vinnie uses a Jackson Rhoads in his performances, the guitar obviously being commissioned by the late randy rhoads
