"Ace exploring sound with his guitar is like Picasso exploring a canvas with his paint." This is exactly why KISS can never be KISS without ACE!!! It isnt a matter of whether or not there are better guitar players in the universe. It is a matter of KISS grew into the KISS that rock-n-rollers all over the globe went bannanas over in very large part because of Ace's free spirit and disregard for playing it "right" and exploring "live" KISS (Ace, Peter, Paul and Gene)Were the Real Deal!
KISS best album is Creatures of the Night and Ace did not contribute. Kiss best album of their formative years was Destroyer and Ace wrote zero songs and didn't contribute on at least three songs. Ezrin even wrote the solo for Detroit Rock City
Did anyone ever play the guitar with so much passion? Ace put all his heart and soul in it 100%. It's raw, it's cool, it's all "Ace" spirit. That's the part that can not be replicated even if the notes can.

It took me to outerspace for sure when he started the part where the guitar lights up. Ended up making me sick and threw up outside. The bouncer wouldn't let me back in lol. TH-cam doesn't give you the true experience. This dude rocks big time in person.
Whenever I get discouraged at my guitar skills after 18 years of playing, I come back to this video. It's the video that I saw as a young child and said " I want to do that"
ACE's slumbering swagger, his laid back approach and trailblazing riffs are what made him my favorite all these years. I fixated on him as a kid on stage and when they reunited, an adult.
I think he's one of the most underrated guitar players in the world hes no blackmore or page but he's got all the right shit. I love him. He's pure rock n roll .
You can not even picture a Les Paul and not think of Ace Frehley! He was THE brand, THE sound of real KISS, and the heart and soul of their 5 decades of tours. If you went to the farewell tour, it was the sounds of Ace's guitar phrases that made the magick work
i believe when one is truly deep in their art and passion for something, at moments their souls leaves their body and is free. i love watching ace's solos because i can see it. drugs aside - he is so deeply in love with music and you can tell.
I was a serious KISS fan when I was 6 years old after hearing the Hotter Than Hell album at my cousin’s house. I had my walls covered with those giant posters you could get at Spencers in the mall. I started to collect all their vinyl. I was an obese child. Largest in the school. Listening to KISS, in particular Ace because there was nothing uncool about him, and pursuing my love of rock and roll, I lost all my weight and was inspired to this day. I’m 55, a drummer, guitarist and vocalist and have spent time in several bands. Ace was by far my favorite of the band but Peters killer drum kit made me want to learn that first. I can’t say enough about how these men of KISS really helped me as a young and insecure round boy. They fueled my imagination and showed me the possible impossibilities and I love them for it. However, when I heard RUSH for the first time. That, was pure inspiration on a higher plane of consciousness. Ace is the best of KISS though just to nail down the point of this comment.
johnny Sic Exactly, tge thing that makes Ace great is that NO one plays like him (famous except for Thayer), when you hear that sound, you know it's him.
I really wish Kiss would have made a concert film back in the 1970s. Something akin to Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same with backstage footage and fantasy sequences to accompany the music.
Paul was not Eddie Van Halen, but then Eddie was no Paul Stanley, struttin' around the stage and singing those high notes in Heaven's on Fire. I'll always have a soft spot for KISS, having grown up with their music as a little kid, along with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. Great time to be a kid. I still love the boogie Rock n Roll, with the hard punch, and great choruses (Shout it out Loud, Rock & Roll All Night, Love Gun). I'm more of a Jazz guitarist, but I love Ace Frehley.
Ace Frehley and Angus Young in my opinion are the greatest guitarists of all time and by far the most underrated, these guys are by far more entertaining on stage than anyone else and have influenced so many of the guitarists from the late 80's into the 90's.
Tommy Thayer is an excellent guitarist, and I won't deny that. But one thing's for sure:He ain't no Ace Frehley! At best-Tommy Thayer is an Ace Frehley wannabe.

This is exactly why KISS can never be KISS without ACE!!!
It isnt a matter of whether or not there are better guitar players in the universe. It is a matter of KISS grew into the KISS that rock-n-rollers all over the globe went bannanas over in very large part because of Ace's free spirit and disregard for playing it "right" and exploring "live"
KISS (Ace, Peter, Paul and Gene)Were the Real Deal!
3:19 guitar god
My first rock ‘n’ roll concert was kiss in 1976. It was kiss live tour the good old days.
Same here, as a newlyborn 12year old i saw KISS in Sweden 76 and then my life Changed.
Whatever all of todays Wiser allknowing clowns thinks, Ace and his Guitarplaying/Show was something mindblowing when the world didn´t even got Computers or Cellphones..
He has Inspired John5/Dimebag/Slash/Friedman/Myself to play the Guitar..
Not bad for a "shitty" Player in my opinion..
So to all of you haters/clowns/wiser guys..Keep up the flag of this guy if you can..🤣🙏🤘

Most of the people complaining about his playing don't really understand guitar playing. They think you have to play shred (super fast nonsense noise) or it's no good. They don't understand where rock guitar and blues guitar playing came from, and how feel and attitude are just as important as notes.
Ace whaling guitar is the heart and soul of kiss. Nobody has that sound, very unique. Kiss records and song still sound heavy and modern still to this day.
Still have never heard some of the cool sounds to this day, that he played in this solo. That echo and delay are so cool.
ACE is Still the best guitarist EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and without ACE & PETER, KISS=PISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree! Sign the petition!
www.change.org/p/kiss-bring-back-peter-criss-and-ace-frehley-as-full-members-of-kiss-for-their-final-tour
untrue, but i appreciate the sentiment
Proves you don't need to be musically literate to be good.
i guess
maybe
+Tyreek Murillo not an I guess, it's simple yet sounds good, showing you don't have to play yngwie classical music to be good
^ My man.
Sure helps though. Imagine how much better he would’ve been if he was?
This. Right Here! The reason I became a musician (and an Artist)!
Ace maybe wasn't technically proficient but that isn't what Rock N' Roll is about is it? It's about feel and playing from your Heart (and Groin) and Ace is/ was just so frakkin cool!
I still get goose bumps when that Les Paul starts to smoke!!!
out,
t
Awesomeness, I would have loved to get to see this as a kid
This stuff made me crazy - I was 16 years old in 1977, and Kiss was *the* band to see live. Rock-N-Roll!
One of the all time great solos!👍
One of my first guitar heroes.
You gotta love him!
I saw Ace at Ritten House Square in Winston Salem a long time ago...I was playing pool and watching having a good time. I was lit. Ace started his solo and by the end I was getting dizzy. It took me to outerspace for sure when he started the part where the guitar lights up. Ended up making me sick and threw up outside. The bouncer wouldn't let me back in lol. TH-cam doesn't give you the true experience. This dude rocks big time in person.
I'm still an Ace fan. Every Halloween. I love his solos.
Whenever I get discouraged at my guitar skills after 18 years of playing, I come back to this video. It's the video that I saw as a young child and said " I want to do that"
ace is just one of the greatest guitarists EVER Thanks for upload ! ....
Best Ace solo.....recorded it on cassette when it was on HBO, and listened to it over and over.
Ace was and is the sound of Kiss period Legend .....grew up in the 70's .....listening to ACE ..
You can not even picture a Les Paul and not think of Ace Frehley! He was THE brand, THE sound of real KISS, and the heart and soul of their 5 decades of tours. If you went to the farewell tour, it was the sounds of Ace's guitar phrases that made the magick work
This is one of Ace's very best solo spots! Brilliant and so fluid in every way!
I saw them in Canada in 1977 also..... loudest concert i ever attended.... and the energy was insane.
Ace is the friendly hardware place!
lmao good one👍👍
i believe when one is truly deep in their art and passion for something, at moments their souls leaves their body and is free. i love watching ace's solos because i can see it. drugs aside - he is so deeply in love with music and you can tell.
Thank you a million times over for posting this! "Space Ace" is an inspiration to us all.
How can someone not like this video?
That is some real rock&roll!!!
I don't like it.
@@thekinarbo I'm with you. Thank gawd for Akira Takasaki and Eddie Van Halen, not necessarily in that order.
Nothing but greatness 🙌
In my opinions .... among the 10 best in rock .... great guitarist 👌
What a flippen awesome band they were back then. Happy to have grown up listening to all their music as it happened. Bless them
Ace specifically said that he only got a les paul because Jimmy Page had one.
Without a doubt Ace is my favorite guitarist. Style /technique and stage presence go along way.
johnny Sic Exactly, tge thing that makes Ace great is that NO one plays like him (famous except for Thayer), when you hear that sound, you know it's him.
Although Ace couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
***** You're trolling right? Lol.
***** I don't see Les Paul, I see A Gibson Les Paul custom.
I really wish Kiss would have made a concert film back in the 1970s. Something akin to Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same with backstage footage and fantasy sequences to accompany the music.
Wish I was old enough to see them in the 70's wow ACE is the BEST
Paul was not Eddie Van Halen, but then Eddie was no Paul Stanley, struttin' around the stage and singing those high notes in Heaven's on Fire. I'll always have a soft spot for KISS, having grown up with their music as a little kid, along with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. Great time to be a kid. I still love the boogie Rock n Roll, with the hard punch, and great choruses (Shout it out Loud, Rock & Roll All Night, Love Gun). I'm more of a Jazz guitarist, but I love Ace Frehley.
Saw Kiss in Minneapolis in 1977 as a 14 y.o. kid. I was never quite the same afterwards..
Kiss rock and roll Army forever!!!
Same I was 7 lol my sister took me to my first concert changed my lif
Yep, I saw this same act in Seattle '77. Never get tired of it. My favorite band of all time. KISS Rocks!!!! 🤘 May 2024!
Ace Frehley and Angus Young in my opinion are the greatest guitarists of all time and by far the most underrated, these guys are by far more entertaining on stage than anyone else and have influenced so many of the guitarists from the late 80's into the 90's.
Incredible stuff!
This is how Legends
become Legendary
Okay Dime, I see what you mean now.
I downloaded this solo to listen to on the way to school
The REAL Ace Frehley. Not the imposter.
there is no imposter , ACE chose another path..💙
Tommy Thayer is an excellent guitarist, and I won't deny that.
But one thing's for sure:He ain't no Ace Frehley! At best-Tommy Thayer is an Ace Frehley wannabe.
What it's an outrage, I want my money back.
I want the fake one, I demands it ese vatos locos forever putos locos tacos head gasket chumps cheese dip caca cabron mamados hot
In 1977, I was in Junior High listening to the Beatles. Then, I heard KISS - Alive II. That’s when I picked up the guitar and then, blew my father’s stereo speakers. Their Double Platinum vinyl LP -gifted to me by my HS GF is my all-time favorite rock album. I am 62 and I have the Epiphone Ace Frehley Budokan Limited Edition Les Paul Custom guitar #758.
Ace #1 hands down. Keeps it bluesy none of that prog rock fluff.
After all these years what's so wonderful about Ace is that he's at heart,a blues player.
One of Ace Frehley`s Best Solo`s ever !!! Just Perfect his Gibson playing
back then - brilliant Les Paul Tone !!! I am very proud to be a Fan since my
Childhood in the 70`s ! Ace Frehley is still too much underrated for what he plays
in the 70`s ! His Gibson Les Paul playing is one of a Kind and one of the Best ever !!!
His Solo`s were Magic back then ! Great Feeling !!!
he is a great experienced and sensitive guitarist
he was my model in 70's
i play guitar since 1976 by his influence on myself
love Ace
4:54, hammer-on?
I had a bad case of rock n' roll Pneumonia this morning... I watched this and now my symptoms are gone. thank you ace.
One Of My Favorite Guitar Payers Of All Time!!!
Ace with a great solo Part. Fantastic
he is one of the best guitarist of the history!
Really? Better than Eddie Van Halen? Better than Randy Rhoads? Better than Yngwie Malmsteen?
OF THE 😂 (HISTORY)😂
Let me put it this way, Ace Frehley and his skills are perfect for Kiss.
I just met Ace, got an autograph, and shook his hand literally 5 minutes ago at his book signing! Long live the Spaceman!!!
