Presented by Harmony Korine and Mark Scala
In the Frist Center’s exhibition of paintings by noted artist and filmmaker Harmony Korine, the spontaneity of outsider art is given a psychedelic twist. Through his use of raw and distressed surfaces, unpredictable layering, and checkerboard and concentric patterning, Korine disrupts perceptions of topography and space. In this hour-long discussion, Korine will share his sources of inspiration and artistic process with chief curator Mark Scala.

i like this interviewer actually. he asks about assumptions he has and is willing to be wrong and is being himself and not pretending to relate to harmonys artist vision like some interviewers.

I don't agree with the flack lots of people here are throwing at the host/interviewer. The venue is what it is. It's to be expected. And not gonna say it's because of the interviewer or his abilities but this is the most lucid and engaged I've seen Harmony nearly ever. Maybe it was a good balance. I enjoyed this.

I enjoyed the interview. Good on harmony for chatting with the local arts institute. Respect to all.

Get the feeling that this pompous curator was expecting Harmony to be verbose and to give some bullshit articulation on the theory behind his art, and ended up being disappointed and annoyed. A skater kid invaded the arthouse film festival and then the big visual arts museum. I love it. While I get that a lot of people find Harmony's art to be pretentious or just bad art, there are certainly pretentious people that love what he makes, and then are confused or upset when they realize he's the real deal. He doesn't posture as a "creative-type", he just is one. He's an eccentric 90's subculture kid with a great artistic intuition and with not much to say about it.

Yeah I think he's trying to be like Laurence Krauss from this interview with Johnny Depp.
