Korine’s paintings at once attract and confront viewers with their distinctive aesthetics of perversity, opposition, and grit. Often working with materials found at his local Salvation Army store in Nashville, Tennessee, Korine combines subconscious impulses with objects from everyday life, resulting in what he refers to as “mistakism.”

I love his disconnection from mainstream art and his mockery of it. He takes anything mainstream and turns it upside down.

I know a few people around H-villle. Got family there and a few car guys I know live there. Jimmy Mann, GMC Typhoon owner and a guy named Joe that also owns a GMC Typhoon. Pretty rare trucks. Only 4998 made, IIRC.

To me this is Attitude Art that expresses a a love of the materials. That is noticeable in how he enjoys using the materials he picked. With the attitude comes out a lot of himself and he seems ok showing that much. I like it but I would not buy this for myself if I had the money. I see this more on display inside an academy of arts or an institution. After all, he is part of History. Like it or not.

Why was it easy for him to succeed in the beginning, relative to most people? Try to sell a screen play, see how competitive it is.
The mind he had combined with the people he surrounded himself by. You can do nothing but flourish when you simply don't give a fuck about pleasing anyone. It comes with time.
