I regret to inform you all that I must have definitely been living under rock for the past 9 years, as I had not seen this until right now. Val Kilmer was a legend before he was even born. As specially for doing this. And shout out to everyone who was in this movie. It is one for the books in my mind.
I think people are giving this film way too hard a time. Like Harmony says about midway through this video, he's not sure exactly what this is but it's something he hasn't done. Not all movies have to have a purpose or a meaning, I'd prefer there were some that didn't. When you listen to a great piece of music you don't try to extrapolate it's meaning, it has it's own contexts and settings and foreground and background and plot development and climax. I get that in film people feel a stronger need to make sense of the narrative in a traditional way, but I personally don't think it's necessary.
What a great filmmaking approach...truly an emporium of collaborative self-expression. It's so nice that an American filmmaker can go to this level of freedom. Keep pushin' the walls out Harmony.
Love these guys, sounds like Val is channeling a touch of John Malkovich during the bike/homeless scene. I love that sort of anything can happen at any moment kinda feeling that potential craziness can evoke.
He is but it's not this short movie that will prove you that Val is a great actor. Also it's not the one that will prove you that Harmony is a great director. HINT: (IMO) Val: The Doors. Harmony: Mister lonely.
I don't care what anyone says, I thought The Fourth Dimension was awesome, and to now learn that Harmony directed the first part makes a lot of sense. Harmony and Val rule
I agree with Stephen Dedalus: not all films need to have a purpose or meaning. And they don't have to actually make a profit either. . .well. . they kind of have to make $$$ or do something besides being art. Because if they don't . . . no person with the $$$ will continue to throw the $$$ at an art film director. His last "Beach Bum" was an unqualified disaster. "Relentlessly Terrible" was the review on imdb. But what do reviewers know? Bitter. Sardonic. Negative. Reviewers are nasty. But I think this review got it right. Unlike the ponderous meandering disaster that the lead actor will have to continue to explain for the rest of his life.
I'm not a big Val Kilmer fan. I think I've seen 3 of his movies. This short film is pointless and dumb. No plot, lousy amateurish acting, and a pretentious aura. This is the kind of movie that arthouse movie buffs love to slobber over. Oh, a foreign director, an impromptu setting, and a pseudo-mystic setting. This film exemplifies the downward trajectory of Kilme'rs movie career. Go to IMDB and check out the box office and reviews for the past 15 or 16 years. They are almost all bombs!

well said Stephen
Korine is a true auteur
Are you happy about using extrapolate today?
I love Val and I love Harmony.
Two heroes

What a great combo, Val and Harmony
Harmony's films come off as a form of escapism. They venture away from the mainstream and get lost in the clouds.
Spring Breakers was like being in a dream. So I agree with your comment.
first time ive seen someone out-weird harmony

I love Harmony, what a weird guy.
I love Val Kilmer.
I'm so sorry that he was essentially forced to finish filming Tombstone while his father died and missed the funeral.
have no doubt, Korine is still the amazing artist from gummo
Say what you want but Harmony Korine rules.
This is great.
I thought the movie was real. I'm now convinced that Val is a great actor.

HINT: (IMO)
Val: The Doors.

My brother was the one who said he lived in his van.
Harmony is my hero
val is the man
Holy shit this is everything. Too funny. Harmony does this in his interviews. Like fifth dimension.
This has actually been way better than the actual film.
Val and harmony are like father and son
Is the dude with the white shirt and fedora hat Shane Smiths brother, he sounds just like him. Val is a fucking talent.
Favorite movie ever
what camara is used on this shorfilm? i know the lens are anamorphic, just want to know the camara model!
tnx
You can't even spell 'camera'.
Great stuff. Glad to see harmony is not so full of himself anymore.
I totally get Harmony. We are from that skate nerd 90s forgotten youth misled dreamers
how nice of you, much appreciated chubs :)
Was that shot on the F3?
You seem angered, even as you almost certainly accurately describe Korines' pioneering and amazingly unique film.
that's the point, it's very surreal.
Who?
Does anyone know what camera was used to shot the short?
was trying to figure that out myself
is this related to val kilmers preformance with the black lips at fun fun fun fest a couple years ago?
This is like Val's portrait of Morrison in the 2010's had he not died
Big boiii!!!
The Fourth Dimension had me trippin. Especially towards the end when the last part was in Polish, I speak it. I was like Vice.....you're so awesome.
I now know that Velvet killed Elvis
... what is going on? Val reminds me of a young "Dude/Lebowski" here.
is that val kilmer or sam kineson?
"It makes you so happy, you're almost insane."
Pass the pipe.
very true. i think it was all val's new-age talk that struck a nerve :)
With whom?
val kilmer as the dude from The Big Lebowski
Val & Harmony probably spend about 14 hours every day.......talking to each other about their "vintage" Supreme collections.
Just sayin'.
The Dude... returns
it's on this channel.
It's like an hour and 48 minutes.
What do you mean by that? "The movie has no lines between fiction and actual life." so?
"That's correct".
oh damn what am i gonna do, not the upside down thumbs!!!!
His head is biscuits.
Awsome secrets!
great now i understand it like 5% more
