Another tip? If you have a doc on your team, and you don't NEED the medkit, let him have it. It refills his medstation.
And his heals (with a couple perks) will out do what you can do for yourself if you don't have any healing perks.
@@louishansetiv7016 Recon synergizes pretty well with Docs as well, once you unlock it. Both of Recon's drones offer some minor healing and damage mitigation that'll supplement a Doc's healing.
You could even go ultra defensive with forming a fireteam out of a Tech, Doc and Recon.
@@MegaShepardsPie Yewah, but it really doesn't make sense to bring both, you lose out on a lot of potential group utility and raw damage output

Also fun fact when a Drone appears on the Motion Tracker it appears as a Teal/Green Blip, when you see it call it out, your teammates will thank you later. Also you maybe able to prevent your own tackle,pin, beatdown at the drone's claws which may save your ass as your team will know the ugly b-stard is there.

Aliens is my all time favorite movie, EVER!! After Colonial Marines, I was concerned with any new game in the universe but after playing through a few levels, yeah this is no Colonial Marines. Absolutely loving the game. It's just about what I wanted for an aliens game that mimic the amazing action of the movie and this game nails the look sound, atmosphere, feel of the movie. Is it perfect, no, but close enough as many of us have been waiting decades for an Aliens game like the movie.

You said it man, we've traveled the same road to get here - almost a decade ago I opened a gift from a gf : Colonial Marines Collector's Edition ! 😐 (you know how the rest goes). But this, this is a fantasy compared to CM 👍

Also, demo's radius perk will instantly get any xeno type off of your allies. Good way to keep AI alive in solo play, as that's mostly how they die.
At 9:45 I disagree that Use of Cover being pointless in the first Act, or against Aliens in general. Aliens cannot melee attack you through cover (not even Warriors or Drones. So "taking cover" both allows you to shoot at point blank range "over the cover" but also shields you from those Aliens immediately in front of it. Aliens need to climb over or run around your cover to attack you. It's useful...
Why not stand even further back from the cover?

note for reference for conversations with others: 'xenomorph' is just military for 'alien'; it's not a special term for these critters, and just means 'strange shape'.
It's greek, not military, and Gorman used it in Aliens because he was one of those muppets who think using big words makes himself seem smarter. Aliens suggested that the Colonial Marines referred to any alien lifeforms as Bugs (With the exception of Acturian Poontang), given one of the squad asks if the mission was going to be another bug hunt.
@@Satsujinki1973 It's USA-style military talk using Greek, a standardised term, written by a back-room officer who needed something cooler than 'alien' to have in battlefield reports. Standardised military terms like this, not the same word the public would use, exist everywhere.

No, it was a line delivered by Gorman to show he was a pretentious clown who thought he was better than the Grunts under his command. But then fools latched onto it thinking it was the name of the species which is why they always capitalize it. And it spread through the fandom. The actual grunts use "Bugs."
At the time Gorman uses it, he hadn't even encountered any of them, and had no idea what he was dealing with, only that it was not humanoid. And that a woman in her 20s had killed one while in her panties after it had killed her crew.
He's like those guys online who try to impress people and talk down to everyone by using big words, and half the time get the usage wrong.
The word xenomorph existed long before Aliens was even a twinkle in James Cameron's eye.
Also, please stop saying "USA-style military." The US Military system is a copy of the British Military system which is a part of the greater European military system. Which all existed long before the US military.
What are you guys talking about? Xenomorph is not military lingo. It literally is a name made up for these critters, that happens to be a combination of two greek words. The same way humans are 'homo sapiens.' Homo is latin for 'man'. Sapien is latin for wise. Nearly all scientific classifications use greek/latin words.

Here’s a tip it’s not doable solo on Extreme or Insane difficulty you will need real players to help you plus finish the DLC so you can use rockets and upgrade your abilities and perks that’s very important. Rockets are a life saver on harder difficulties.

As a solo player, that makes me bummed about team ai. Still excited about the game though as I love the Alien franchise.
Believe me the AI is fantastic. They do a brilliant job of laying down fire, detecting and reacting to threats, covering your back, reviving. Although any mission objectives you have to do yourself.

Seems like a case of 'about time', finally something getting into '86 Aliens territory.
Looks ok but some of the weapons seem really goofy, nerfed and too much like CoD. A lot of AR-15 clones sounded like the pulse rifle too?
Flamethrower is unlike the canon one but different model I guess?
The Dark Descent game seems to have the edge over this one for me.
Just do intense mode level faster than standard. But if you like the drag then standard is the way

Two questions:
How do you unlock the Recon loadout?
And what is the point of the overall level given you have weapon and loadout levels independent of that overall level?
1. You beat the game on one playthrough
2. Leveling unlocks your perk grid, and you can activate more perks (not sure if it buffs your character as well)
@@jonathanchew913 Levelling classes unlocks the Perk Grid. But I see nothing yet in regards to overall player level which maxes at 20 I think.
Still haven’t found any ‘ thinking human beings” go play with….. always says server is full and on Xbox, there’s no looking for group bit. That I’ve found
Yea the Xbox version is apparently bugged when it comes to matchmaking so they might have pulled it until they do a fix.
Sure would be nice if I didn't get stuck in an infinite "looking for players" screen whenever I play this. I can't get a full team so I have no choice but to kick people then go with the crappy AI synths.

Why in the future there is no night vision goggles?
I was completely on board and then men with guns somehow became involved and now I'm extremely conflicted.
I thought so too but it's balanced. These are combat androids and working Joe's and you only fight them 2 or 3 stages out of 12stages total. Even then when that happens you still have Xenos who will fight with them and you. I thought the same way when I first saw this back some months ago. In other words they don't over stay they're welcome. Then the next chapter you will fight pathogen enemies which is very cool and a break from the same enemies over and over again. Then after that you back to fighting Xenos and bigger badder Xenos at that.
The AI really isn't that bad on the lower difficulties. The bots get the job done and they rarely take enough damage to go down (they do heal themselves when they get low on health).
As soon as you want to move on to Intense or higher difficulty, they probably do fall a bit short, but the game does warn you that playing with Synths isn't recommended at that point.
Seriously? I've played 4 hours this morning and had to turn around to revive my Alpha and Beta several times making it extremely aggravating to run a mission solo
@@Xander_Park I completed half the campaign on Standard and had to revive Beta once because he got overwhelmed by a Warrior and a bunch of smaller mobs.
Try taking some of the pressure of them when they're getting low on health so they have time to "bypass damage" and they'll heal themselves up to full when they can. Make sure to get involved when the bigger threats show up as well and they'll do fine.
Obviously human teammates are always going to be better, but I've found the public matchmaking to be the most frustrating part of the game so far. Had a hard time finding a fireteam yesterday.
@@Xander_Park I beat the game on standard with my AI teammates and they did fine. They did so well I thought I could power through the intense difficulty but I was sadly mistake.

Yep you can
It can be. You can toggle floating damage meters on and off as well as the X marker. The latter is a visual aid to confirm kills, but it's completely optional.
I turned it off, as well as the damage floaters. Much better.
Installed today (waited to see if this would be worthy - I've only just healed from the PTSD caused by Randy Pitchford and his Colonial Marines 😐)
First thing I'm noticing is that walking slowly results in only a few animation frames and the rest is a dopey glide - I wish I couldn't see it. Maybe I should run everywhere 🤔 (nitpicky perhaps, but I'll be looking at the model the whole game so it'd be nice if it was properly animated or at least with some cleaner key frames)

The way that the classic drone and warrior aliens take far more damage than in the films puts me right off this game, it just doesn't feel like Aliens for me because of this.
What? They warriors and drones in the movies are insanely strong and durable.

Look, it's a video game. If that's the case you shouldn't like any of the Aliens game because they all take more hits than the movies. We want a challenge and giving them low health like the movies will have people who are good on the mouse or controller run through the game. Call of duty and Battlefield enemies or even players in multiplayer take more shots to kill than movies and real life. Let's stop looking for reasons to hate this game. I grew up on Aliens and I and many others can tell this does feel like a true Aliens game. If you want to take down Xenos easy then put it on easy. They also have challenge cards that can make you do extra damage, so combine those two things together and get your movie accurate Xenos. Cold Iron devs consist of only 40 devs so they're really an indie studio who was on a budget. This is they're first game and they did a great job with it and it's only 40 bucks.
Exactly, tanking all that damage when in reality pulse rifles so a lot more damage in canon. The Smart Guns do even more damage too.
Aliens Dark Descent sort of has the damage just right but even there slightly nerfed.
@@dope8878 Center of mass hits fck them up in canon Aliens lore from pulse-rifles etc. The damage they are dealing in this game is like from SMG gunfire (colonist weaponry).
