Finally!!! Someone makes a great demo of the actual usable sounds this thing can do instead of making electronic fart noise music, I’ve been looking for a standalone synthesizer sound source to use with my Keystep 37 instead of lugging a laptop. Well done!!!
Sh*it finally ! -- someone reduces my bank account, since I just need such a thingy for pure pleasure and like you as a standalone synth, but for an old masterkeyboard. A bit too well done ;-)
@@sendalunar2974 Anything that produces that techno babble because them rascal kids and there boom, boom, boom just all sounds like that. Real music is now taking over the MC-101. Move over techno rats, listen to the sweet sound of classics.
This is pretty much the perfect little box to make all sorts of 80s synthwave and 90s techno. These sounds come directly with the MC 101. This is a no brainer and a guaranteed buy for me. This thing comes with 3000 samples. Insane.
The perfect demo. Convinced me to use these 80's and 90's synths on modern pop. I won't have any success with thatm but well, at least have some fun :D
Excellent idea to have the MC in the foreground so we can read the patche names! One remark: you should have used the "Pizzagogo" patch to play Enya! lol
Thanks ever so much for showcasing the great sounds of this unit. I have a Roland FA06 but I am tempted to get the mc-707 for my desktop/live performance.
One of the things I use on the 707 a lot is the patch randomiser. Sometimes you get utter shit, other times gems. It's a very capable sound engine for not a lot of money.
I didn’t realize the 101 comes with all these natural sounds. They sound pretty good to me. I also dig the Pure Moods Soundtrack being played when a preset gels. Great demo!
@@rawalshadab3812 Nice, my friend ended up getting one and he let me borrow it. Sounds are amazing on it, but while I had it the learning curve was too steep. Would have to practice to get used to it. Kinda like the Digitakt I own.
@@thedeepblueskys Oh sweet. I'm considering getting it just to have some classic Roland tones. My current setup is missing something with good natural instruments since my Korg Krome broke down and instead of buying a full synth I was considering hooking this up via midi for when I need it (and would be nice to have something to noodle around on during the work commute). Since you had it for a bit, any idea if it's friendly for that or was the midi workflow also a bit wonky?
I like how to this day they still include the Philly Hit, just in case someone wants to, I guess, cover some old Hip Hop or that one Savage Garden tune.
Excellent stuff! I have the MC707 (big brother of the 101) are the sounds named the same on there? I don't find the sound browser 'that' intuitive on the 707. I do recognise some of the names, I think, so hopefully so. :)
Love it! Can you record your playing into the 101 as notes for later playback and further track layering, or are you restricted to exporting your playing as audio in real time?
Hi, yes you can record midi data on all 4 channels. When you’re done editing, you can record the 4 channels as separate audio tracks via usb into your daw.
Hello from Tallinn 🇪🇪I very interested in Zen core engine and want to know are there the differences and quantity of sounds and patches between Roland mc 101 and mc 707? Thank you for your channel
I noticed no one replied to this so apologies if this is super late I'm just now seeing it. I think the 707 has the same number of presets as the 101, but it can support different external sound sets and I think it's easier to edit sounds on the MC 707 There are a lot of downsides to the MC 707 versus the MC 101 though like it's not portable you can't run it on batteries etc but you do get four more tracks etc.. I'm not sure if you get more polyphony, if you haven't already made your mind up I would get the MC 101 i have one I love it
Nice example of what is possible. I have the same keyboard and have ordered the Roland MC-101. Have you tried to split the keyboard into 4 separate MIDI channels?
Nice, i am looking for a hardware midi soundmodule and was already thinking about a MC groovebox. How easy is it to connect a basic midi keyboard and xontrol the sounds?
@@thephoenixchant It's not relevant anymore, 'cause I sold it. But now I got a Fantom 06 with DAW control for Logic Pr 11. Logic Pro 11 is extreme cool with new Session Players ✌🏼
Then you want a electric piano not a synth, or a romper that has samples of these instruments , the DX7 is an awesome synth , it’s not meant to sound like a sample based cruise ship gig type keyboard

Hands down the best demo of the mc101 on the web...in fact I got mine because of this
Twin Peaks theme is always a heartbreaking expérience but so beautiful! Thanks Badalamenti 🙂
This proves the point that the player is what makes an instrument sound good. Excellent demo by a real player.
Very nice! So rare to find videos showcasing the MC-101 through a good midi controller!

I think this is what a lot of people want a rundown of the sounds on hardware .. Thanks buddy much appreciated
Love the james Brown is dead at the start.
I'm nervously watching videos about the 101 while I'm awaiting mine to be delivered

This explains the price of about 410 €. Cant wait to get mine.
thank you for your demonstration.
I always enjoy your demos! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe!
I’m gonna go ahead and say it , 80s synths > 90s synths. It’s amazing that digital stuff sounded so cheesy back in the day
Merci pour cet belle vidéo 😁👌👌

It has the Roland Zencore module, which contains a lot of legacy roland sounds,

twin peaks!

You can set up 4 splits in Komplete Kontrol.

Hi can you key map user imported samples and trigger them off a midi keyboard?
Yes
Amazing video man!...is there any way to assign filter knob to some expression pedal?
When you load a tone track that “INIT TONE” is there and it’s a saw, can you edit that and make it a pulse?

With this NI controller, how do you play MC-101's other tracks without changing 101's midi channels and complicated templates?
Can I record what I’m playing on midi keyboard and it will be on the mc101?
what song are you playing at 8:10? great demo! :)
Hi, thanks! :) It’s Ten Sharp - You
The big frustration is that the MC 101 receives no Pitchbend and Modulation signal. Grrrr .Yeah, I've got also the Komplete Kontrol S61 ✌🏼

I reply for the others ;-) Since firmware 1.8 I think, pitchbend, modwheel, aftertouch etc. are recognized and can be sequenced too !
Which song is the lead04 playing. I recognize it so much, but cant put my finger on which song it is.
Hi, it’s Vincent De Moor - Fly Away
Is it velocity sensibility sounds?? Thanks
Masked crusaders!
how do you acces the internal sounds menu
90s music synth
Thank you for doing this but my god why do their electric pianos have to sound like that :( we want a wurli/rhodes sound, not that silly DX7 stuff

is it possible to layer and split sounds?
Hi, you can send the 4 tracks to different midi channels. It depends on your midi keyboard if you can layer or split the 4 channels.
No bass sounds? What?
Mais musica e menos demonstração.
