I've wanted a Strael for a few years and finally ordered a Strael v3.0 in December not realising a v4. 0 was on the cards. Fairlight upgraded me for free so a top bunch and can't wait to see it and ride it.
congratulaions! Its not everyday that someone's really striving for excellence, cares for details and creates something beautiful, and even more so when they are already established!
I was pondering on getting Strael probaly since v1, finally pulled the trigger for a frameset in spring last year, built it in September. If i knew v4 was coming so soon I would have probably waited. No regrets though, it's a beautiful bike and rides like a dream. One slight complaint I hope they improve upon, that radically bent chainstays make it uncomfortably close to modern allroad 45mm deep 32mm externally wide rims that I have mounted - hopefully I don't break a spoke :)
Eh, exciting video - but what are the actual detail changes for the new version? New tube set, it would be good to nerd-out and the specifics! Hell we all love 853
Same here. If new madrels were needed it must be some unconventional shaping and butting. I'd like to see "taper" conical tubes make a comeback. Reynolds made tapered 531 main tubes seventy or so years ago, as designed by Selbach and Granby, and later used by Gillott and a couple of other marques, but only in small numbers for custom frames. Thorn brought it back courtesy of Reynolds, for a short while, about twenty years ago to make touring frames with the right balance of stiffness and compliance. Tapered main tubes make great sense. Anyhow "the Gnome" never disappoints. New tubes will be ace.
Quite disappointed that the only colours available are black, white, and ochre. Such a beautiful bike, but would be amazing to have other colours like green/red/orange
@@nickyburnell Erm, Taiwan's official title for international trade, according to ISO, is now "Taiwan, Province of China", (you'll notice this on new product labelling) when it used to be "Taiwan, Republic of China." The world is changing. China calls the shots. There's no escaping their reach.
I always fancied the Strael. I guess my only issue was that I thought the BB drop could have been increased and maybe accommodate tyres up to 38mm. That has me leaning Secan although I ride only road, including really bad roads, but little or no gravel.
Nice to see behind the scenes. Lovely bikes

Good to know. I've been holding out for a 4.0 for ages!
Reynolds 853 is great tubing. Lovve my vintage Kona Explosif with 853 converted to a monstercross bike

I still have several "Dom era" Genesis bikes, and they're all great. Big up the gnome!
This was lovely to see! Nice work!
Well I’m sold. I have a 13 year old Genesis Equilibrium with Reynolds 725 steel. This will be a lovely upgrade.
Love to see manufacturers working so tightly with suppliers.
This really illustrates the manic attention to detail that goes into the design, a fascinating insight 👍
Finally I can place an order, waited 16 month for this to be released 😆
Nice sneak of the new colour way there
As you can tell from my name, I'm a fan. This is exciting!
Such a cool brand. Next bike.
Awesome video
Big Yes I'm Reynolds through and through 🤙🤙👍👍
Can't wait to see what the product looks like when it's released
Please release it in red though!
Aw man! There goes the piggy bank! ❤😂

love this
Can we have colours other than black or white ?
Black, white, and.......mustard?
@@jamesdoolan8040 Just seen it - oh yes that's the mustard ! - I'm saving now

Who shot this? Looks great!
Oooo when is the 4.0 coming? I've been thinking about buying a Strael for over a year.

Amazing work! Is the Strael 4.0 frame being manufactured at the Reynolds factory in England?
Reynolds doesn't manufacture frames. Only tubes. AFAIK, @Fairlight are made in Taiwan to the highest standards.
Taiwan is a democracy so excellent. Absolutely no need for China. ❤
@@fotografamos4083yes, 853 will be manufactured in England then shipped to Taiwan, I’d have thought

I'm guessing Dom uses Maxway in Taiwan. He will have built a relationship with them since the Genesis days. Great factory.
853 fork would be perfect
I just wish there was a Strael small enough to fit me.

I think the tyre clearance may be increasing 👍
Up to 39mm on the new version!
@@hermes987 That is great news. Couple that with a 75-80mm BB drop and it is THE bike.
