      I did that off camera. As well as blowing out all of the sawdust with an air compressor.

    I have the same model (dcd771) it's a pity the whole motor needs to be replaced when the brushes go... which mine just did.

    Hey there, I have the selector for hammer drilling that tends to shift in while drilling without percussion. Do you know if this can be fixed? Thanks!

    Hello. I have a question-problem. The “Forward/Lock/Reverse” button on my Dewalt drill is VERY loose and flimsy, floppy. How can I correct, repair this? Is it easy or difficult? Please respond. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

      The forward/reverse button can be replaced through dewalt for around $5 usd. However if the problem is in the switch assembly, the entire motor and switch needs to be replaced for around $120 usd

    How did you know which tab to solder the red and black wire to?

    • @switchjv
      @switchjv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The tabs are color coded. The red wire goes to the red colored tab and the black wire goes to the black one..

    How did you rule out the switch wasn’t bad? I have the DCD780 and its switch looks exactly like yours, however I can clearly see my brush ring assembly needs to be replaced. So I’d like to know how to test a switch just like yours for continuity. Please help!

    • @switchjv
      @switchjv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I knew the motor was bad. Because qhen I was doing a job, the motor started smoking and locked up.

      @@switchjv Thanks for getting back to me. I know how to use a multimeter. The problem is there are soooo many nodes on the bottom of the switch, I don’t know what response I should get testing each one. When the battery is on the drill and I press the trigger switch the light comes on for 10 seconds or so but the drill doesn’t make a move. I am thinking the light might be wired in there parallel to the switch which makes diagnosis of the switch difficult for me to understand.

      @@tameralaskaris6909 I would put some leads on the motor to see if that's not the problem. If the motor works when power is attached to it, then it could be the switch.

      @@switchjv disconnecting the switch terminals from the brush ring assembly, I put the battery on the switch. As I pulled the trigger I used my voltmeter and measured 20V between the switch leads.

      @@tameralaskaris6909 so the switch works. Now connect leads to the motor, bypassing the switch to see if the motor works. Also, the speed selector switch on top of drill is in between speeds 1 and 2. Make sure that the switch for the speed setting is actually on 1 or 2.

    When I mate the chuck back up to the motor the gear switch is stuck

    • @switchjv
      @switchjv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine did the same thing when first put it back together. The selector has be lined up with that prong exactly or it won't work.

    Is the motor the same in the 18v version? Looks identical just 18v

      Not sure about that. I don't have an 18v.
