I was anxious that the Miku wasn't there, but you came through in the end. It certainly seemed like one of the most fun pedal demo's you'd ever done. And I am a huge fan of Devin's Ocean Machine - I need to get one of those on my pedalboard one day.

I bought the Plasma pedal immediately after your video on it, and I watch said video at least once per week. The sounds you guys made that day inspire me like no other. Thank you!!
The Rockbox Boiling Point is absolutely amazing…. I picked one up back around 2011 after seeing it on Proguitarshop, and it has never left my board. No matter what new OD pedal I get, they just can’t replace it.
Ahh nice! I didn't expect to see the Ocean Machine, even in the honorable mentions. I love the dual delays and reverb combination in one unit with the ability to save and recall custom settings. I also love my Dunlop Rotovibe.
The Immerse I bought on your review Rob and it's never been turned off while I'm playing! Tend to stick to a certain setting with shimmer and its gorgeous!
Omg im dieing at the end of this this video! Lmfao!! What is that effect at the end? You and Lee losing it made me laugh so freaking much! Thank you i needed that. Great video as always. Ive been a fan for years.
My favourite is Revv G3. Took some time to adjust but it's like a full-blown preamp in a pedal. Works like magic when plugged into power amp or even into IR modeler. The real metal machine!
Some awesome pedals Rob....it seems we are going through a gear renaissance, it's gonna be interesting to see what companies bring us within the next ten years.
Honestly, I had forgotten about the Miku. But when it came on at the end, I nearly spit out my coffee. For me, that video was and still is the funniest video I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. And great retrospective of some really great pedals, btw. Furthermore, I liked the AI thumbnail. It was colorful and caught my attention in a good way. Cheers!
Pretty much anything from Walrus audio is a winner, but the Big Daddy of pedals is(of course) the Empress Zoia. It fits perfectly near the start of the signal chain, and nearly any pedal used after it gets a touch of the Zoia mojo. Limitless possibilities.
Agree, Eventide, Strymon, Empress, OBNE, Earthquaker, Walrus, Meris, Source Audio, Hologram, Chase Bliss, and maybe very roughly in that Timeline, are the gods of the 2011+ pedalverse. And recently, Darkglass have dominated, if you are coming from the bass end of sound. Pick one pedal from each, and you'd be getting close to the best of the last 20+ years. Even if it might cost 3000-4000+! Some from older manufacturers too, that look to the past but are pretty takes, like the Boss DM-101 is a great idea.
When I met you years ago in Cleveland, you recommended a Mr Black Thunder Claw. That is an awesome pedal. Suprised it didn't make the cut. But finishing this video with a Miku... I pull out that pedal for laughs!! So much fun
I would love to see Rob a year-by-year recreation of his pedal board from, say, 2010 to the present. So much of my pedal board was influenced by his reviews.
I bought the Red RoX because of this test and it never disappointed. Although I gotta admit you unknowingly chose again the most expensive pedal there, Rob.
My TOP 10 list: 10. tc electronic Spark 9. tc electronic Sub 'n' Up 8. Biyang Babyboom FZ-10 Fuzz Star 7. Biyang Babyboom RV-10 Tri Reverb 6. Boss BD-2 Blues Driver 5. Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer 4. Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive 3. Nux Atlantic (Delay & Reverb) 2. Friedman OD-Deluxe 1. Tone City King of Blues
I have my own list. See what you think 1. Wampler Soveriegn distortion. 2. Neunaber Immerse Reverberator (can't find the first one) 3. Jimi Hendrix Mini Wah. Insane amount of throw 4. ISP Decimator II noise gate. Best noise suppressor EVER 5. MXR 10 band EQ KFK signature. 18v of tone shaping with KK's curve. So good 6. EHX Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT. It is a looper/delay but does something to the tone that is just pure magic. 7. Boss DS-1X Distortion. The classic with modern gain. More than you'll ever need/use/want 8. JHS Paul Gilbert PG14. It has this way of shaping the mid freq that makes lead sound dope af 9. EHX Freeze. Play a note, step on the button, it holds forever or gradual decay that's adjustable 10. Boss TU-3W Waza Craft chromatic tuner. Already perfect, somehow made better. Some kind of sorcery I am sure. And the worst, most useless most unmusical pedal ever made is the DOD Gonkulator ring modulator. I returned it, they didn't WANT it back. He told me that they have sold that exact pedal 7 times previous and it's been returned all 7 times. He refunded my money, told me to keep it. I tossed it in the trash can by the front door on my way out. That's how bad a sound it makes. If you want something to sound like a Star Wars laser, get a synth. Do not waste anything on that dogshit device. You have been warned. And anyone who tries to defend it or offer a real use? They're opinion has just been proven worthless and not to be trusted to choose what flavor iced cream to buy. Get a new friend.
Nice one Rob. Not got a single one of those pedals but all sounded amazing. Totally agree on the love for EHX and bought the String 9 as soon as it came out and love it to bits. Recently got the Andy Timmons Halo from Keeley and also love it like crazy. Best thing about "Now" is that, when I was starting out it seemed as though it was BOSS or cheap crap. Now even the cheap crap is great (some of the Behringer stuff is well good). Also, thanks for your review of the Harley Benton Tube15 - I bought one the next day (they should pay you a commission lol) and it's brill. Upgraded the spring reverb from 2 to 3 spring and love it as a great home jamming amp and even used it for a few gigs with no problems mic'd up. Not bought one of your guitars yet, but I love the T-Style models you make so will get one in next 12 months defo. Good luck with the business and keep on rocking. PS: Admire how you responded to KDH who I also follow when he asked Qs about your guitar company. You came across as fair, honest and charismatic as always. I'm certain that you are actually in league with Satan because I know him personally myself and he speaks very highly of you. Catch up with you on the Highway down to see him one day lol 😈😈😈😈
Definitely agree with a lot of these, a friend of mine uses a BD-2 as their main drive sound (which was also their first guitar pedal) and a GE-7 to balance it out and she says that they're some of the best pedals she's ever used (not to mention they're great pedals for any level of player), and it was definitely worth it having the Miku at the end because it's such an impractical meme pedal but you can have the dumbest fun with it. Also here are some of my personal favourite pedals that I've played over the years and fallen in love with (Disclaimer: Most of these are already on my pedalboard but I love all of these regardless) 1. Boss OD-1X (First guitar pedal that I got back in 2013 when I was 14 and it's been on my pedalboard and my main drive sound for the last 10 years, and probably my favourite guitar pedal that I own) 2. EHX Big Muff Pi (My personal favourite fuzz pedal that I bought back in 2016 because my band at the time was playing a Smashing Pumpkins song and I wanted to have that same effect to be closer to the song, plus I've always loved those pedals because of David Gilmour, Billy Corgan, Jack White and Cliff Burton) 3. Boss DS-1 (Same deal with OD-1X in that I got my DS-1 at the same time and it's another one of my go-tos when I want that kind of tone) 4. MXR Phase 90 (Classic phaser used by the likes of Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour, what more can you say) 5. Boss CH-1 Super Chorus (My go-to chorus pedal and one of my favourite pedals of all time) 6. EHX Ram's Head Big Muff (I wanted a smaller fuzz pedal for my board and plus I got into this pedal because of David Gilmour) 7. Dunlop Cry Baby Wah (Classic wah pedal, and like I said with #4 what else can you say about this pedal that hasn't been already said) 8. MXR Uni-Vibe (Instant Dark Side of the Moon/Hendrix Machine Gun tones and I love it) 9. Strymon Lex (I've always loved the sound of a Leslie cabinet after hearing them used by the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin (Plus my one of my college instructors lent an original '70s Hammond B3 organ that he had to my college's recording studio, so seeing a vintage piece of gear in person was incredibly fucking cool) and this is an awesome modern take on that classic effect) 10. Boss CS-3 (Great compressor pedal and sounds fabulous with clean guitar) Honourable Mentions - Boss BF-3 (Had that pedal since 2016 and it's been awesome, I've written a bunch of guitar riffs with that pedal and it just sounds great. Definitely one of the best flanger pedals out there) - Boss TR-2 (Also a great tremolo pedal) - MXR Blue Box (Fool in the Rain is one of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs so that was the primary reason why I wanted to get this one, also it's just a killer octave fuzz) - Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master (Got turned onto these thanks to Matt and Rabea when they hosted the Sounds Like series on Anderton's and it's an awesome dual delay/reverb pedal) - Tone Bender Reissue (Tried this at my local guitar store about a year or so ago and really liked it, I forget the brand but one of the older employees asked if I wanted to try it out and it was absolutely awesome. Definitely see why dudes like Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and The Beatles used them back in the 60s, though it was way too expensive for me lol) - Boss ME-25 (Multi-effects board that was actually my first venture into pedals and I used it like crazy over the years, this was also the main pedalboard I used in college because at the time I didn't have access to my regular pedalboard and it was easier to carry onto the subway alongside my guitar when going to band practices) - Fender Tone Master Pro (Newer pedal that blew me away when I first tried it, I loved that all the patches were reminiscent of famous guitar players ranging from David Gilmour to Jimi Hendrix, Brian May to Eddie Van Halen and even guys like The Cure and Billy Duffy from The Cult. Super versatile pedal and you can make your own really cool patches as well, which is great)
@@RobChappers Sorry if I ended up writing so much but like you said in the video there are way too many pedals to choose from but I do recommend it, it's great. It's been awesome watching these videos through the years to see the different products and stuff and it'll definitely be interesting to see what the future will bring in terms of pedals and stuff
10:41 YES! I was stoked to call that one before seeing it. I have a mk1 and mk2. Cannot beat it, lest you buy that new crazy spendy one with presets and menus!
I've been playing for almost 30 yrs and have done multi effects( still have a mustang floor that I love) and pedals both....my two current faves are the Strymon Cloudburst and Blackstar Dept 10 Dual Drive. The latter (Dept 10) has replaced my Tube Screamer. As a bonus I can gig with it.
Because there was so much difficulty picking I think there should be more pedal videos Top 10 of each Overdrive Delay Reverb Fuzz "Oddball" (Old Blood Noise Endeavors, and Earthquaker types) Synth Octaver Multi Etc. That way we'd have a better, more nuanced look at the massive world of effects over the last 15-20 years.
@RobChappers milking it would be doing every price, brand, plus best Overdrive pedal vs. Best VALVE Overdrive pedal, it could get milked into loads, but if you just did the basic types with the top 5 of each, that would mean you don't get analysis paralysis, because there are probably pedals that you wished you'd added to this one.
An interesting choice of pedals to share with us, and I for one am glad you have a big microphone for good audio, but are not covering half your face with it and sticking it up your nose like so many big microphone owning youtubers seem to do. Never knew about the Devin Townsend pedal - very interesting!
What??? No Dimetrodon Distortion? No Kloned Kentrosaurus??? *lol* Great list - there were a couple in there that I don't have / wasn't aware of - that Red Rox especially seems pretty nice... definitely going to check it out!
I owned a Mooer Ocean Machine for many years. The idea was great, reverb + double delay and many engines. The problem is that all of the engines sounded really metallic, low quality, grainy, and frankly inauthentic. Another huge issue is that eventually every footswitch started misfiring and eventually stopped working altogether. It was easily the worst pedal I've ever purchased.
I met him at NAMM last year, and unbelievably he gave me his phone number - it took me almost a whole year to get the courage to text him, but when I did, he replied, what an amazing guy 🤘🏽❤️
Holy shite man! I remember watching the original video with that last pedal … Miku or something like that. I was cracking up then, and it still gave me a good laugh! Love your playing man, always have 👍
I looked up that Wah pad and it's a cool idea. Kind of disappointed you can't get them anymore. It looks like you could have had a miku on it to just kick in momentarily to accent a note.
Great list of pedals! I was all set to protest not including the pedal that made you and Lee laugh the most, though. Then, there it was! I so wish I had bought a Miku pedal when they were available, since there are some outrageous used prices out there!
Hey Rob since you mentioned haircuts on the last top ten video I’m gonna put my vote in for the Sweetwater Ruby haircut. lol. The shaved head with the longer beard is the look for you bro.
Best for me in no order would be: Chase Bliss Mood MK2, Chase Bliss Reverse Mode C, ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud, ThorpyFX Peacekeeper, Empress ParaEQ Deluxe, Boss DM-101, Boss RC-500, Nightsky Reverb, Boss VB-2w, Nordland ODR-C
It's not that I love digital pedals more, but the best groundbreaking pedals have been from that side the last 15 years. And I guess I go for more clean into time+space pedals. So I'm thinking, Eventide Space, for pedal Blackhole. Strymon Timeline and Big Sky for kicking pedals up in into the stratosphere in quality, Empress Zoia for putting a modular FX system in a pedal (and then modular FX in a modular with the Euroburo), Eventide H9 / H90 for putting studio Eventide power into a pedal. And most recently Chase Bliss Mood mk.II and Meris LVX and Mercury X. On the analogue front, I think Origin Cali'76 for getting an 1176 sound into a pedal, but also just sounding great. With the other analogue pedals, so many of them are refinements of designs older than 15 years. We'd have been just fine with the original designs. I'm pretty amazed with what MXR got into the Poly Blue Octave too; a booteeq pedal outfit would have charged 350+. My runners up would probably be coming from left of field, weird and wonderful things like Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water. Or pedals from the dark side of the frequency spectrum. Things like Darkglass Hyperluminal or Microtubes, Alpha-O etc ... I feel like some of that forward thinking approach, but with one foot solidly in past good sound, needs to come back into guitar analogue shaping - on the compression / drive / fuzz side of things.
I researched a lot of reverb pedals. I picked the Neunaber Immerse Mk-II. I liked it better than the 1st one. Laugh all you want at that Korg Miku pedal... the price has skyrocketed on it. It's a collectible now.
I still think to this very day the if you ever get more than one person that plays guitar into a end of year reunion, a Miku pedal will make the best Xmas party ever!
The Andertons Miku video will forever be the greatest pedal review of all time
Every time I see them both laughing, I literally can't stop myself either. Just too damn funny :)
I was waiting for Rob to say, "One of my biggest vocal inspirations...is Hatsune Miku."
Devin Townsend and Chris Cornell

It’s a good idea but I do t want to milk it to death… I’ll give it some thought.
@@RobChappersMilk it Rob!
Came for 1 reason and 1 reason alone and Chappers delivered.
What a fantastic video rob have a good day also do you have regrets when looking back in life ❤😊
I've got the DigiTech Whammy Ricochet. Really cool pedal! Tracks great!
brilliant! been looking for an octavio fuzz, that mxr hendrix is killer!
An interesting choice of pedals to share with us, and I for one am glad you have a big microphone for good audio, but are not covering half your face with it and sticking it up your nose like so many big microphone owning youtubers seem to do. Never knew about the Devin Townsend pedal - very interesting!
Was that Don Carr at 3:15?
i was so glad to see you throw in the miku pedal. that's actually how i found your content.
What??? No Dimetrodon Distortion? No Kloned Kentrosaurus??? *lol*
Great list - there were a couple in there that I don't have / wasn't aware of - that Red Rox especially seems pretty nice... definitely going to check it out!
Were the silver devils horns intentional?
I owned a Mooer Ocean Machine for many years. The idea was great, reverb + double delay and many engines. The problem is that all of the engines sounded really metallic, low quality, grainy, and frankly inauthentic. Another huge issue is that eventually every footswitch started misfiring and eventually stopped working altogether. It was easily the worst pedal I've ever purchased.
Totally worth it just to see Capt. Lee's face around the 18:30 mark again! 🤣
The waza bd is great! But i still secretly play my waza mt2 and love it sĥhh😮
Got the blues driver db-2w a couple of days ago and I’m loving it!
Surprised the Deizel VH4 wasn’t chosen. I thought Rob loved that Distortion.
Huge props for the Hevy Devy mention - he's an absolute legend!
Also yeah, that Korg Miku was truly a saga... I ALMOST bought one just to experience that level of joy.
I met him at NAMM last year, and unbelievably he gave me his phone number - it took me almost a whole year to get the courage to text him, but when I did, he replied, what an amazing guy 🤘🏽❤️
What about the Notaklon!?
Love the shirt man
Best videoseries ever 🙏
Much appreciated bro ❤
Holy shite man! I remember watching the original video with that last pedal … Miku or something like that. I was cracking up then, and it still gave me a good laugh!
Love your playing man, always have 👍
Some interesting choices that's for sure.
Love seeing those old clips Chappers. I remember watching those & they were hilarious but also cutting edge at the time. Take care mate.
I miss the way you and Andertons was together the way you guys was so funny together both channels just ain't the same as they was
Was that LTD the one you modded in a competition against Lee one time? Where is it now? Remember enjoying that video.
Apart from plugging straight into an amp, the boss graphic equaliser is the best pedal I've ever used.
No Plimsoul?
That last 18:14 - 19:38 nearly killed me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I looked up that Wah pad and it's a cool idea. Kind of disappointed you can't get them anymore. It looks like you could have had a miku on it to just kick in momentarily to accent a note.
Oh man!! That would have been great ha ah… you could mod a Mike to give it a momentary switch!
Great list of pedals! I was all set to protest not including the pedal that made you and Lee laugh the most, though. Then, there it was! I so wish I had bought a Miku pedal when they were available, since there are some outrageous used prices out there!
Oh man! Can't believe the Cali76 didn't make the honourable mentions.
Hey Rob since you mentioned haircuts on the last top ten video I’m gonna put my vote in for the Sweetwater Ruby haircut. lol. The shaved head with the longer beard is the look for you bro.
good that you didn't forget about the Miku....apparently it's a collector's item now and they are crazy expensive
Good list of pedals….That miku demo will go down in history. Recommend watching this with a drop of Monkey Shoulder. 🥃
oh that pedal actually sings
Can you do top 10 kebabs of the last 15 years next?
😂😂
Don’t test me, I’ll do it
@@RobChappers do it
Nice Minion’s pedal at the end there!😂
Your hair that you apologized for was your least ridiculous hairstyle lol
Best for me in no order would be: Chase Bliss Mood MK2, Chase Bliss Reverse Mode C, ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud, ThorpyFX Peacekeeper, Empress ParaEQ Deluxe, Boss DM-101, Boss RC-500, Nightsky Reverb, Boss VB-2w, Nordland ODR-C
Thanks Chappers. Big fan. Nobody has your "ear" for tone.
That Miku Pedal conquered the hearts of an entire generation of Guitarists xD
So who makes the ruby
Universal Audio
Waiting for the guitar video....SUSTAIN FOR DAYSSSSS!!!!!
Blues driver... all you need.
14:00 - Dude, Morley wahs have been providing this functionality for decades now.
Thank goodness you included the Miku! If the Minions made a guitar pedal, the Miku would be IT!
I researched a lot of reverb pedals. I picked the Neunaber Immerse Mk-II. I liked it better than the 1st one.
Laugh all you want at that Korg Miku pedal... the price has skyrocketed on it. It's a collectible now.
How many pedals!
I still think to this very day the if you ever get more than one person that plays guitar into a end of year reunion, a Miku pedal will make the best Xmas party ever!
Are you interested in testing our brand's multi effect pedal?
What about that mesaboogie pedal where the vid was only briefly? Surely the worst?
No Purple Plexi?
I was literally thinking "What? No Miku" and then JOY!
I was getting so pissed off watching this thinking “WHERE’S MIKU?”
It's the Fuxx Fuzz at 9:41 just the best, I've been thru 2. And,, Pitchfork > Richocet
