    Some people don't realize right away that the super soldier program discussed in The Incredible Hulk was referring to Captain America & that Blonsky was being injected with a modern attempt to recreate Cap.
    Banner's work was meant to take things to the next level. He believed that if he used Gamma rays instead of the Vita rays used on Steve Rogers that he would have better results but turned himself into a monster instead.

    • @bustedsim
      @bustedsim ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I actually noticed that after Steve was injected with the serum, the shot of his face grimacing and his eyes dialating looked exactly like the shot and facial acting when Banner was about to transform in Stern's lab. Not 100% sure, but I think so?

    If no one has mentioned it yet.... the scene where the grenade is thrown - if you notice, its not just Steve Rodgers that runs towards the grenade. In the background you can see Agent Carter running towards it. She's also a great character in this.

    The serum overall increases your stats(strength, speed, memory, speed, cant fatigue etc) to peak human(but Steve has trained to become beyond any peak human just like a body builder trains to become peak. Some neat things about the serum are also that he can't get any disease or illness.

      Kevin Fiege doesn't like the response from the fans about the current state of Marvel so he delayed all projects that are still in production plus the head of the cgi team left and she was causing a lot of issues so the fact that he's actually listening and giving writers/artists more time to make the films/shows consistently great again is a good thing.

    3:58 Tønsberg has the worst luck. This is the same viking village that got decimated by the Frost Giants in Thor.
    12:06 You actually got to see what it did in The Incredible Hulk. Blonsky received a version of the super soldier serum before his transformation into the Abomination but it was a bad batch since it drove him crazy. Even Hulk was a failed version at replicating what Dr. Erskine did. That's why Steve Rogers is such a rare crown jewel because no one has successfully created another like him.
    23:10 Seriously?! C'mon it was obvious Red Skull wasn't scared about the prisoner escape. He was fleeing Captain America. One super soldier is equal to a small army.

    Cap America was in fact my fav comic book hero. I was born in the early 60's and knew a lot of WWII vets around my small town in NH. The barber shop I went to with my dad and grandfather was run by a vet and his two best friends, one Navy the other army were there every day it seemed. Over against the wall was a table with reading material including vintage comics. Especially several 1940's editions that were donated. I started reading Captain America comics that were printed while WWII was in full swing. So cool they did this movie right and started with his origin.
    Yes, the comic had him wearing wings on his head piece/mask.
    The tv series Agent Carter was pretty good, as well as Agents of Shield that keeps up with the Marvel movies that came out.

    Something I only just noticed watching your reaction is that, because the Hulk was birthed out of an attempt to reproduce Erskine's Super Soldier Serum gone awry, when Steve is in the pod about to transform into his new physique, there's a shot of his face straight on, his pupils dilated and making a grimace that is pretty much exactly shot the same way as Bruce Banner was when they triggered the Hulk in the lab in Harlem - creating a visual link between Banner's change into the Hulk and Rogers' change into Captain America.

    Just a bit of background on Captain America's comic book history - the character was created in the 1940's during World War 2. On the cover of the first issue, Captain America is literally punching Adolf Hitler in the jaw (in the movie there's a nice shot of some kids reading a Captain America comic book that shows the actual original comic book cover). A few years after the war ended the comic ended. In the early 1960's, Marvel comics began publishing a lot of the super hero comics that we know today and they decided to bring back Captain America. So, they came up with the idea that he had been frozen in a block of ice at the end of the War and was floating out in the ocean where the Avengers found him and revived him.
    The movie does a good job incorporating all of the character's history. For instance, the cheesy looking costume with the triangular shield that he wears when he's selling war bonds is a nod to his costume from the early comic books. Later when he is fighting Nazi's alongside the Howling Commandos, his costume looks more like his costume from more modern versions of the comic book. They were able to take a character that's been around for about 75 years and take different aspects of the character taken from various iterations and incorporate it all into a cohesive story.

    "He's human plus some"; that just about nails it. He can't do things that a normal human couldn't do, but he'll do almost everything better than a normal human would. - run, jump, lift, punch, you name it.
    In some ways he's the opposite of Tony Stark, or Thor. They both started out with power (or brains in Tony's case), and they were both arrogant, entitled, and irresponsible; they had to learn to act like heroes. Steve was ALWAYS a hero, he just didn't have the power to go with it.
    You might also notice that when he jumped on the grenade in training, Peggy Carter was only a couple of steps behind him; and when he went after the assassin, she was a couple of steps ahead. She's a lot like him, just as courageous and self-sacrificing. You might check out the "Agent Carter" series, and the first episode of "What if ?" which shows what might have happened if Peggy had gotten the serum rather than Steve.
